Probable female PINE BUNTING seen briefly on private land at Easton Bavents on Saturday 6th Jan 2018.

The bird will be looked for again tomorrow and if present every attempt will be made to try and gain access.

Dunwich - 7 Snow Bunting 300 yards North of beach car park.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull again noted today.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis still present & showing well on flood by bridge. Please do not park on soft verges.

North Warren - 15 Snow Bunting on the beach opposite sluice cottage + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present on Hazelwood Common. 30 Snow Bunting by the martello tower (Slaughden).

Felixstowe - 2 Little Gull feeding offshore from Landguard.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander (1 drake) on the Wilderness Pond Christchurch Park

Tuddenham St. Mary - Juvenile Iceland Gull seen early morning in pig fields.

Tuesday 30th January.

Lowest Area - Glossy Ibis seen at Carlton Marshes SWT from mid morning (Eastbridge bird?). 3 Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery. Female Black Redstart Ness Point + 5 Purple Sands. Firecrest Corton Woods.

Wenhaston - Glossy Ibis reported from Church Farm Marsh for 2nd day.

Dunwich - Glaucous Gull still present though mobile.

Minsmere - Probable Slav Grebe offshore drifting North.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis seen at 09:00hrs though mobile.

Hollesley - 20 Eurasian White-fronted Geese Hollesley Marshes.

Bawdsey - Firecrest seen at the picnic site.

Orwell Estuary - Great Northern Diver seen off Levington Marina.

Ipswich - Raven flying S high over Baylham Stone, (west of Ipswich) at 13:42hrs today. 2 Goosander still on the Wildnerness pond Christchurch Park.

Stour Estuary - Great Northern Diver + 2 Eider seen from Stutton ness.

Monday 29th January.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Westleton - 12 Bewick's Swan still along Lymballs Lane.

Dunwich - Slavonian Grebe seen offshore.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull again on the beach this morning.

North Warren - 60 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Slaughden - c30 Snow Bunting by the martello tower.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery + Black Kite & 2 Red Kite from Priory Lane. 7 Purp Sands at Ness Point.

Westleton - 12 Bewicks Swan Lymballs Lane.

Easton Bavents - 5+ Tree Sparrow seen just North of Easton Lane.

Walberswick - Ring-tail Hen Harrier seen at dusk from Westwood Lodge.

Dunwich - 1st winter Glaucous Gull again on the beach this morning before flying South. 2 Great Egrets Dingle Marshes.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis still present and viewable from the road-bridge. Please do not park on soft verges.

North Warren - 3 Pink-footed & 160 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh + Water Pipit noted from the viewing screen (photo Mark Cornish). 29 Snow Bunting present on the beach opposite sluice cottage

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show well at Hazelwood Common approx 50 yards from the car park + 2 Mealy Redpoll.

Slaughden - Lapland Bunting seen 200 yards beyond the metal barrier then flew onto saltings + 6 Snow Buntings. Jack Snipe on saltings & fem Goosander still present.

Boyton - 1 Pink-footed & 19 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the marshes.

Hollesley - 20 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the RSPB reserve.

Shingle Street - 13 Snow Bunting at the far North end of the shingle ridge.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean, 1 Pink-footed & 10 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the SWT reserve.

Blythburgh - 3 Caspian Gull on the Blyth Estuary.

Westleton - 11 Bewicks Swan (3 juvs) along Lymballs Lane.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis still present on flood by bridge though mobile due to shoot near-by.

Thorpeness - 2 female Goosander on the mere.

North Warren - 161 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh including 2 neck collared birds.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present & showing well at Hazelwood Common.

Deben Estuary - Bewicks & Whooper Swans both remain at Kirton Creek. Merlin over Brightwell House.

Trimley - 5 Greenland White-fronted Geese on Trimley Marshes + singles of Pink-footed & Tundra Bean Geese & 4 Eurasian White-fronts late afternoon.

Ipswich - Redhead Goosander still on the wilderness pond.

Wednesday 24th January.

Minsmere - Both the Glossy Ibis & 1st winter Glaucous Gull were present on West scrape at dusk.

Eastbridge - The Glossy Ibis was again seen on the flood viewable from the bridge during the morning.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander (1 drake) on the wilderness pond within Christchurch Park.

Tuesday 23rd January.

Dunwich - Great Egret on Dingle Marsh + 9 Snow Bunting & the 1st win Glaucous Gull on the beach. Offshore, Long-tailed Duck within the Common Scoter flock.

Minsmere - Glossy Ibis on West scrape late afternoon + Glaucous Gull briefly seen.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis on flooded meadow early morning.

Boyton - Male Hen Harrier, 17 Eurasian White-fronted Geese, Jack Snipe + 170 Dark-bellied Brent Geese on Boyton Marshes South of the river wall.



Felixstowe - 2 Purple Sands on the jetty at Landguard.

Trimley Marshes - 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese present + 5 Pink-footed Geese.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander (1 drake) on the wilderness pond in Chrustchurch Park.


Monday 22nd January.

Lowestoft Area - Rough-legged Buzzard seen distantly on Haddiscoe Marsh. 6 Hawfinch Sotterley church. Red Kite seen over Carlton Marshes.

Covehithe - 1+ Mealy Redpoll along the footpath by the board.

Southwold - Purple Sand on groynes North of the pier.

Walberswick - 30 Twite on Corporation Marshes.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan (6 ad & 3 juv) still on Lymballs Lane.

Dunwich - 1st winter Glaucous Gull on the beach mid morning onwards. Great Egret & 9 Snow Bunting Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull on beach til 09:30hrs then flew North. Long-tailed Duck amongst Common off North wall.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis still on the flood viewed from the bridge.

Sizewell - 2 male Black Redstart by Sizewell B.

Sunday 21st January.

Lowestoft Area - 10+ Hawfinch seen at Sotterley church. Black Redstart Ness Point.

Dunwich - 1st winter Glaucous Gull 400 yards North of the beach car park at 10:30hrs + 3 Great Egrets & 10 Snow Buntings on Dingle Marsh. Long-tailed Duck offshore amongst a small raft of Common Scoter.

Westleton - 10 Bewicks Swan on Darsham Road / Lymballs Lane.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull on the beach behind East hide 08:40-08:50hrs + 2 Velvet Scoter North offshore. Water Pipit & ring-tail Hen Harrier seen from Island Mere late afternoon. (photo Brian Small)

Saturday 20th January.

Lowestoft Area - 14 Hawfinch seen by the church this morning.

Dunwich - 1st winter Glaucous Gull seen on the beach below the coastguard cottages at 14:20hrs. Great Northern Diver South at 11:20hrs + 2 Great Egrets, 20 Twite & 9 Snow Buntings at Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull seen North offshore prior to 10:00hrs + Long-tailed Duck. 4 Goosander (2 drakes) on Island Mere.

Eastbridge - The Glossy Ibis was again present & showing well either side of the bridge throughout the day. (photo Karen Mason)

Aldeburgh - The long-staying Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show on Hazelwood Common 50 yards from the car park.

Ipswich - Redhead Goosander still on the wilderness pond, Christchurch Park.

Stour Estuary - 2 Slav Grebes in Holbrook Bay.

Wednesday 17th January.

Minsmere - A Glossy Ibis was noted North over the North wall at 13:50hrs + 1st win Glaucous Gull South.

Westleton - 10 Bewicks Swan still viewable along Lymballs Lane.

North Warren - Ring-tail Hen Harrier seen this morning.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still at Hazelwood Common.

Lowestoft Area - The juvenile Iceland Gull was again seen on Kessingland levels. A Siberian Chiffchaff was reported from Bungay. Hawfinch seen at Sotterley Dell (15 birds reported).

Dunwich - 40 Twite on the beach + 2 Great Egret & Jack Snipe on Dingle Marshes.

North Warren - 6 Snow Bunting on the beach.

Lowestoft Area - Juvenile Iceland Gull seen briefly at Leathes Ham early morning. 12 Hawfinch seen at Sotterley Wood today. 23 Grey Partridge Ellough airfield.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull on East scrape early afternoon (possibly same as the Dunwich bird?).

Saturday 13th January.

Lowestoft Area - The Waxwing was again present on Stevens Street until 09:30hrs then flew strongly North. Great Northern Diver + Shag on Lake Lothing viewable from ASDA car park. The juvenile Iceland Gull was again seen by Kessingland sewage works.

Reydon - Again no sign of the probable female PINE BUNTING at Easton Bavents but 43 Tree Sparrows present.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egrets on Dingle Marshes + 9 Snow Buntings.

Minsmere - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on South scrape at 09:00hrs.

Deben Estuary - Whooper Swan amongst Mute Swans on Corporation Marsh, Kirton Creek.

Friday 12th January.

Lowestoft Area - Single Waxwing seen throughout the day on Stevens Street.

Reydon - No sign of the probable female PINE BUNTING at Easton Bavents this morning.

Dunwich - Long-tailed Duck offshore + Razorbill noted.

Havegate - Spoonbill & Little Stint seen on the RSPB reserve.

Felixstowe - 3 Hawfinch seen NE over the dock complex.

Orwell Estuary - Water Pipit seen on the village side of Levington Creek.

Tattingstone - Up to 3 Hawfinch seen at around Tattingstone Place today. Please park sensibly and not on private drive ways and vies only from public rights of way.

Stour Estuary - Great Northern Diver viewable from Stutton ness.

Wednesday 10th January.

Lowestoft Area - 5 Purp Sands at Ness Pint.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan along Lymballs Lane.

Minsmere - Juvenile Glaucous Gull still present at 08:25hrs on beach at the end of North wall + Short-eared Owl appeared to come in off at 16:15hrs and land in dunes..

Eastbridge - 6 Bewicks Swan flew SW over village at 8am.

Aldeburgh - 8 Snow Bunting by the yacht club

Orwell Estuary - Shag along the strand.

Lowestoft Area - Adult winter Great Northern Diver still on Lake Lothing. 3 Hawfinch Sotterley Dell.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egret on Dingle Marshes + 36 Pink-footed Geese, 9 Snow Bunting on Dingle beach & Long-tailed Duck amongst the Common Scoter just offshore.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan still along Lymballs Lane.

Thorpeness - Female Goosander on the  mesre.

North Warren - Merlin on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - 27 Snow Bunting still by the yacht club.

Hollesley - 16 White-fronted Geese Hollesley Marshes.

Monday 8th January.

Minsmere - Juvenile Glaucous Gull again off the sluice this afternoon.

North Warren - 156 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh + 3 Pink-footed Geese.

Sunday 7th January.

Lowestoft Area - The adult winter Great Northern Diver continues to be seen on Lake Lothing from the railway bridge + Shag. The juvenile Iceland Gull put in another appearance on Kessingland levels early afternoon.

Covehithe - 3 Mealy Redpoll rptd near the church.

Southwold - Juvenile Glaucous Gull along the harbour wall at 15:00hrs. (photo Andrew Moon).

Dunwich - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on the beach at 09:00hrs. 9 Snow Buntings on Dingle beach whilst offshore a Long-tailed Duck as noted as well as an Arctic Skua that flew North at 09:00hrs.

Hollesley - 6 Parrot Crossbill were seen again this afternoon on Upper Hollesley Common. 

Felixstowe - 3 Short-eared Owls seen at the ferry + Dartford Warbler.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean Geese seen from the viewing platform + 9 White-fronted Geese.

Orwell Estuary - Water Pipit still at Levington Creek. 2 immature Shag seen off Stoke sailing club.

Saturday 6th January.

Lowestoft Area - Adult winter Great Northern Diver still on Lake Lothing viewable distantly from the railway bridge. 3 Hawfinch seen at Sotterley church. Bewicks Swan on Carlton Marshes.

Wenhaston - 27 Pink-footed Geese over at 10:45hrs heading a a NE'ly direction. (photo Andrew Moon).

Dunwich - 3 Great Egrets Dingle Marshes + 21 Twite & male Hen Harrier. c60 Common Scoter offshore.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan still vieable from the Drasham Road + 10 Pink-footed Geese over heading in a NE'ly direction.

Thorpeness - 7 Goosander on the mere.

Aldeburgh - The COUES'S ARCTIC REDPOLL continues to be seen though elusive at times + Mealy Redpoll. 50 White-fronted Geese North over Town Marshes at 12:40hrs. 15 Snow Buntings present at the yacht club. (photo Barry Woodhouse)

Hollesley - The 6 Parrot Crossbill flew in to Upper Hollesley Common from Sutton Heath at 13:55hrs.

Orwell Estuary - Water Pipit still at Levington Creek. At Thorpe Bay, Jack Snipe on the saltings + Shag noted. 6 Red-breasted Mergs along the strand + Common Sand on the bank under the bridge.

Friday 5th January.

Lowestoft Area - Adult winter Great Northern Diver still on Lake Lothing.

Dunwich - Great Egret on Dingle Marshes + 10 Snow Bunting & 5 Twite on the beach, offshore a Long-tailed Duck was noted amongst c100 Common Scoter.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull still being seen around the scrape.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan still along Darsham Road.

Thorpeness - Siberian Chiffchaff still by sluice cottage though mobile. 

North Warren - 7 White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Lowestoft Area - Great Northern Diver still on Lake Lothing. 4 Hawfinch Sotterley Church.

Southwold - Juvenile Iceland Gull North over Easton Bavents late morning.

Dunwich - Velvet Scoter amongst 100 Common Scoter offshore.

Westleton - 9 Bewicks Swan present in fields off Lymballs Lane.

Minsmere - The 1st winter Glaucous Gull was again seen around the reserve again today.

Thorpeness - Siberian Chiffchaff seen again this afternoon just North of sluice cottage. On the beach 37 Snow Bunting were noted. 4 Goosander on the mere.

Aldeburgh - COUES'S ARCTIC REDPOLL still Hazelwood Common. 9 Snow Bunting by Aldeburgh yacht club, Slaughden.

Hollesley - 6 Parrot Crossbill still Upper Hollesley Comon though mobile.

Lowestoft Area - Bonxie off Ness Point.

Minsmere - The 1st winter Glaucous Gull was present on East scrape this morning.

Aldeburgh - The COUES'S ARCTIC REDPOLL continues to show well at Hazelwood Common 50 yards from the car park.

Shingle Street - 5 Snow Bunting on shingle spit past the Beacons

Felixstowe - Bonxie South off Landguard. A Jack Snipe was seen this afternoon at the ferry / Kingsfleet.

Chelmodiston - 6 Corn Bunting along Lings Lane.

Needham Market - Drake Goosander on Pipps Ford GP's + Jack Snipe.

Tuesday 2nd January.

Lowestoft Area - 4 Hawfinch seen in Sotterley Wood by the church this morning. The adult Great Northern Diver was again seen on Lake Lothing from the railway bridge. 3+ Water Pipit on the scrape at Carlton Marshes.

Dunwich - 3 Great Egret on Dingle Marshes + Jack Snipe. 9 Snow Bunting seen on the beach 200 yards North of beach car park.

Brecks - 15+ Parrot Crossbill seen by St. Helens picnic site at Santon Downham.

Monday 1st January.

Lowestoft Area - The Great Northern Diver remains on Lake Lothing + 2 1st winter Shags. A 1st winter Iceland Gull was present on Kessingland levels from 11:00 - 12:07hrs viewable from the sluice then flew South + 2 Snow Bunting on the near-by beach. 2 Water Pipit on the scrape at Carlton Marshes. 2 Hawfinch Sotterley Wood.

Southwold - Glaucous Gull seen at the harbour mouth at 11:30hrs + 1st winter Viking Gull (Glaucous x Herring gull hybrid) present early afternoon at least. (photo Brian Small).

Dunwich - 3 Great Egrets at Dingle Marshes + 9 Snow Bunts on the beach & 1st winter Glaucous Gull noted. Offshore, 200 Common Scoter noted.

Minsmere - 1st winter Glaucous Gull seen on & off throughout the day.

North Warren - No sign of the Siberian Chiffchaff today by sluice cottage, 25 White-fronted Geese on North Marsh + ring-tail Hen Harrier South at 13:05hrs & 42 Snow Bunting on the beach though mobile.

Aldeburgh - The COUES'S ARCTIC REDPOLL remains on Hazelwood Common. Male Hen Harrier, Spot Red & Greenshank Hazelwood Marsh.

Slaughden - 2 Purple Sands on the sea defences, single Pale-bellied Brent Goose amongst the Brents on the salting's + 2 Goosander (1 drake) on the river/saltings near the martello tower.

Hollesley - 6 Parrot Crossbill still on Upper Hollesley Common 13:20 - 13:30hrs. Caspian Gull Hollesley Marsh + female Eider on the river.

Alton Water - Drake Goosander West of Lemons Hill bridge + 2 Green Sands.

Chelmodiston - 20 Corn Bunting at the junction of Brick Kiln Rd / New Rd junction near Lings Lane.

Stour EstuaryGN Diver, Slav Grebe (3) & 2 distant Eider at Stutton Ness
