Saturday 17th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart still Heritage Green Kessingland though elusive. Firecrests seen at Kessing;and sewage works & Furze Wood, Corton.

Minsmere - The family party of Whooper Swans remain on the reserve as does the lone Sand Martin.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still by the roadbridge. Please do not park on soft verges.

Felixstowe - Single Black Redstart at LBO.

Orwell Estuary - The Greater Scaup remains on the river viewable by the bridge.

Cavenham - Female Merlin seen over Cavenham Heath early morning.

Friday 16th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart by the Heritage Green. Black Redstart Corton at North end of the promenade. Black Redstart Benacre sluice.

Southwold - Black Redstart on roof of 13 North Road.

Dunwich - 3 Black Redstarts Dunwich Heath NT.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present though distant.

Minsmere - 2 Black Redstart on the reserve (male by sluice bushes & fem in car park).

North Warren - Firecrest along the disused railtrack. 2 Water Pipit on North Marsh viewable from the centrel track + 3 Spoonbill, 135 EWFG & Merlin.

Aldeburgh - Black Redstarts were noted at the yacht club, Slaughden and by Fort Green.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marshes.

Bawdsey - 2 Shag seen on the defences at East Lane.

Felixstowe - 4 Black Redstart at LBO + 2 Firecrest.

Orwell Estuary - Greater Scaup still by the bridge + Shag.

Thursday 15th March.

Easton Bavents - Juv Glaucous Gull noted.

Minsmere - Sand Martin still over Is.mere.

Boyton - Short-eared Owl + Caspian Gull noted before flying to Havergate Is.

Shingle Street - Black Redstart (Mark Cornish).

Bawdsey - Shag present on the sea defences at East Lane. (photo David Carter). Black Redstart along Ferry Road. 

Felixstowe - Firecrest & White Wagtail at LBO. Hawfinch seen at Fagbury Cliff.

Orwell Estuary - Female Greater Scaup still on the river viewable by the Orwell bridge.

Wednesday 14th March.

Lowestoft Area - The drake Greater Scaup remains on Lound Lakes. Ringtail Hen Harrier South at 14:00hrs by Henstead church.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew still on the reserve.

Thorpeness - 8 Goosander (4 drake) on The Meare.

North Warren - 4 Spoonbill on South Marsh + 146 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - The long-staying Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show at Hazelwood Common opposite the white cottages 50 yards from the car park.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marshes + ringtail Hen Harrier.

Bawdsey - Shag noted on the sea defences at East Lane.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart on the butts at LBO + 2 Firecrest.

Orwell Estuary - Female Greater Scaup still by the Orwell bridge.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander (1 drake) in Christchurch Park.

Tuesday 13th March.

Lowestoft Area - Hawfinch at Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Reydon - Red Kite seen at Reydon Smere.

Dunwich - Great Egret Dingle Marshes.

Eastbridge - Glossy Ibis remains on the flood.

Thorpeness - 13 Goosander on The Meare.

North Warren - 4 Spoonbill on South Marsh.

Gedgrave - 2 ring-tail Hen Harriers seen over Gedgrave / Havergate Marshes.

Boyton - 10 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marshes.

Felixstowe - Dartford Warbler seen at the ferry by St. Nicholas church.

Ipswich - Single Waxwing along Tuddenham Road by Greshams sports and social club.

Needham Market - The Shag remains on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis NE of Ixworth at Nethersgate Street, Hopton.

Monday 12th March.

Lowestoft Area - Drake Greater Scaup still on Lound GP's + Firecrest at Blue Door Loke. Juvenile Glaucous Gull South off Benacre Cliffs.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still on the flood.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill still on South Marsh + 142 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present & showing well today. Shag off Slaughden.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter drake Greater Scaup seen along The Strand.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander  (drake) on the wilderness pond Christchurch Park.

Needham Market - Juv Shag still on Needham Lake.

Sunday 11th March.

Southwold - Great Egret on Town Marshes.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew viewing from the public viewing platform.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill remain on South Marsh.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll as seen at 10:30hrs on Hazelwood Common.

Snape - Drake Garganey still Botany Marshes.

Trimley - 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese + single Pink-footed still viewing from the viewing platform at Trimley Marshes.

Tattingstone - Single Hawfinch seen at Tattaingstone Place.

Needham Market - The juvenile Shag continues to show well on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still present at Nethersgate Street (Hopton) viewed from the junction on Fen Street.

Saturday 10th March.

Covehithe - Juvenile Glaucous Gull seen South off the cliffs.

Minsmere - 5 Whooper Swan seen from Bittern hide. Jack Snipe viewable from North hide.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis was seen again on the flood viewable from the road bridge.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill still on South Marsh + c70 EWFG.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present at Hazelwood Common though remains mobile.

Snape - Drake Garganey on Botany Marshes.

Deben Estuary - Whooper Swan still in Kirton Creek.

Needham Market - A juvenile Shag was present on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis NE of Ixworth at Nethersgate Street viewed at the junction of Fen Street.

Friday 9th March.

Lowestoft Area - Juv Glaucous Gull again seen on Benacre Broad (2nd day).

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill on South Marsh.

Snape - Drake Garganey still on Botany Marsh.

Bawdsey - Snow Bunting at East Lane + 2 Black-throated Divers noted offshore (1 on the sea).

Ipswich - 2 Ring-necked Parakeets in the grounds of the cemetery.

Stowmarket - Raven seen in trees by Roots & Shoots garden centre

Santon Downham - 12 Parrot Crossbill between the river and railtrack.

Thursday 8th March.

North Warren - 144 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still Hazelwood Common though remains mobile.

Snape - Drake Garganey still on Botany Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 24 Red-breasted Mergs along The Strand.

Wednesday 7th March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinch present in the grounds of the Old Cemetery at Wrentham.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew remain on the scrape.

North Warren - 20 EWFG on North Marsh + Snow Bunting on the beach.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll was again seen today though mobile.

Gedgrave - Black Redstart seen + ringtail Hen Harrier seen over Havergate Is.

East Bergholt - Hawfinch seen by the car park at Flatford study centre at 10:30hrs.

Tuesday 6th March.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew still on the reserve.

Thorpeness - 3 Goosander still on the mere + Little Gull offshore.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show well on Hazelwood Common.

Snape - Drake Garganey on Botany Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter Little Gull viewed from the river at Trimley.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still NE of Ixworth at Hopton South of Nethergate Street near Fen Street junction.

Coues's Arctic Redpoll trapped and ringed at a private ringing site in SE Suffolk. (present for 2nd day)

Monday 5th March.

Lowestoft Area - Drake Greater Scaup on Lound Lakes (2nd day).

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew + 6 Whooper Swan on Island Mere.

Thorpeness - 25 Snow Bunting on the beach at the ness + 2 Little Gull. 3 Goosander on the mere.

North Warren - 94 EWFG + Water Pipit on North Marsh & 2 Snow Bunting on the beach

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll again seen at Hazelwood Common in field opposite white cottage.

Felixstowe - 4 Short-eared Owls seen along the tomline wall by the ferry.

Orwell Estuary - Little Gull on the foreshore viewed from Loompit Lake. Jack Snipe at the managed retreat Trimley.

Chelmodiston - 3 Corn Buntings along Lings Lane.

Needham Market - A Raven was seen West over Pipps Ford. 

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still NE of Ixworth at Hopton at Nethergate Street in flooded field at 3.25pm (2nd day)


Sunday 4th March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinches at Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Westleton - 14 Bewicks Swan remain along the B1125.

Minsmere - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on East scrape + Caspian & Yellow-legged Gulls. Offshore 3 Little Gull noted.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll was again seen early afternoon opposite cottages and showing well, bird hasn't been reported since 15th Feb. 5 Little Gull seen feeding offshore + 160 Eurasian White-fronted Geese flew North over the marshes at 09:00hrs. Purple Sand at Slaughden.

Felixstowe - 6 Little Gull off The Knolls 'Ferry' at the mouth of the Deben + Little Gull seen from the pier.

Tattingstone - 4+ Hawfinch still present at Tattingstone Place though mobile. (photo Lee Woods).

Needham Market - 2 Raven seen from Pipps Ford this morning.

Cavenham - 2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls on the pits early morning.

Saturday 3rd March.

Lowestoft Area - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on Kessingland beach mid afternoon in front of cafe. 2 redhead Smew, 2 drake Goosander & Red-breasted Merg on Oulton Broad. Jack Snipe Furze Wood, Corton + 2 Little Gull offshore.

Minsmere - Whooper Swan on Is.mere.

Westleton - Possible Parrot Crossbill seen in flight East over the heath towards Dunwich at midday

Sizewell - 12 Little Gull North offshore.

Felixstowe  - 14  Little Gull offshore.

Long Melford - 4 Hawfinch seen at the start of Kentwell Hall Avenue early morning.

Friday 2nd March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 redhead Smew remain on Oulton Broad.

Felixstowe - 4 Little Gull close inshore off Landguard.

Thursday 1st March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 redhead Smew on Oulton Broad by The Wherry Hotel. Adult Little Gull Lake Lothing by railway bridge. Waxwing flew West over Crestview Drive at 10:10hrs.
