Saturday 31st March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Common Cranes seen over Barnby/North Cove viewed from Carlton Marshes. 4 Hawfinch in Sotterley Dell.

Southwold - 3 Common Cranes North over Easton Bavents late morning. Around the town Firecrest & 3 Black Redstart noted.

Minsmere - 2 Jack Snipe viewable from North hide, 2 redhead Smew from public viewing platform, 123 Med Gull on the scrape, 2 Caspian Gull on South levels & 4 Firecrest noted (3 in sluice bushes & 1 by South belt)

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present & showing well by roadbridge.

Aldeburgh - An adult Night Heron was seen and photographed this morning in the dyke that borders Church Farm Marsh caravan site and North Warren South Marsh then flew North though still likely to be in the area. The long staying Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show well at Hazelwood Common (50 yards from car park). 2 Black Redstart (photo Mark Cornish) viewable from the cafe & Firecrest along the old railway line.

Hollesley - A Raven was seen & heard as it flew South over Hollesley RSPB at 09:25hrs.

Felixstowe - Glaucous Gull North off LBO this morning + Wheatear.

Trimley - 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese still Trimley Marshes.

Cavenham - 9 Sand Martin over Cavenham Pits.

Friday 30th March.

Lowestoft Area - Single Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Covehithe - Red Kite noted.

Minsmere - Near fsp Black-throated Diver remains off the sluice, also on the reserve, 2 redhead Smew, Jack Snipe & 2 Firecrest in the sluice bushes.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

Aldeburgh - 5 Black Redstart noted around the town this morning with 2 along the old railtrack, 2 by the cafe/Hall Farm & 1 near the Railway pub. 2 Firecrest seen along the old railtrack. (photo Mark Cornish).

Shingle Street - 2 Black Redstart.

Felixstowe - Firecrest at LBO.

Trimley Marshes - The 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese remain on the SWT reserve.

Thursday 29th March.

Lowestoft Area - The escaped Black Kite was at Blackmoor Farm, Wrentham.

Reydon - Red Kite SE over Potters bridge.

Minsmere - Black-throated Diver noted again off the sluice mid afternoon + Jack Snipe & 2 redhead Smew on the reserve.

Westleton - Mealy Redpoll seen amongst 25 Lesser Redpoll on garden feeders within the village.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll Hazelwood Common.

Bawdsey - Spoonbill North viewed from the cliffs at 10:50hrs + up to 4 Firecrest. A Black-necked Grebe was seen drifting North close offshore at 11:20hrs.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese on the marshes.

Hollesley - Red Kite North over the prison at 12:35hrs.

Shingle Street - A White Stork of unknown origin was seen to fly North towards Hollesley Marshes at 13:20hrs, then seen S/SW over Boyton village at 15:45-15:53hrs and then in a garden in Hollesley village soon after. (photos John Richardson)

Wednesday 28th March.

Lowestoft Area - Female Black Redstart Heritage Green.

Bramfield - Hawfinch in private garden this morning.

Minsmere - 3 Jack Snipe from North hide + Firecrest at the sluice bushes.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

Felixstowe - Female type Black Redstart at LBO.

Tuesday 27th March.

Minsmere - Jack Snipe viewable from North hide.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still being seen by the road bridge.

North Warren - 27 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll (photo Andrew Moon) still Hazelwood Common though mobile. Single Firecrest along the old railway line.

Trimley Marshes - 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese still on the SWT reserve.

Lackford - 3 Sand Martin seen at Lackford Lakes, near-by 3 Sand Martin seen over Temple bridge Cavenham Heath.

Monday 26th March.

Lowestoft Area - Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery + escaped Black Kite still in the area. Firecrest Kessingland sewage works, near-by female Black Redstart at Heritage Green.

Walberswick - Red Kite North late morning.

Minsmere - 2 Jack Snipe from North hide.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

North Warren - 27 EWFG on North Marsh

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still Hazelwood Common + Mealy Redpoll. 2 Black Redstart, Firecrest & White Wagtail at the Southern end of the disused railtrack. Red Kite SE over the town early afternoon.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese on the marshes.

Shingle Street - 2 Black Redstarts still.

Bawdsey - Firecrest at East Lane. 2 Firecrest at the picnic site + 2 Woodcock.

Sunday 25th March.

Lowestoft Area - The adult Spoonbill remains on the scrape at Carlton Marsh SWT. Male Black Redstart Heritage Green.

Minsmere - Black-throated Diver rptd South offshore. Jack Snipe seen from North hide.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still Hazelwood Common though mobile. 2 Firecrest at the North end of the disused railtrack.

Boyton - 2 Whooper Swan, 5 Pink-footed & 16 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on Boyton Marshes.

Shingle Street - Black Redstart still present.

Bwadsey - Tree Sparrow at East Lane + 2 Black Redstart along the cliffs. Up to 8 Firecrests were noted (5 along the cliffs with singletons at the picnic site, boatyard and cafe).

Felixstowe - Single Firecrest along the butts at LBO (photo above Andrew Moon) + Black Redstart by the point.

Trimley - The 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese remain at Trimley Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 3 Common Scoter on the river viewed from Levington Marina.

Brantham - Red Kite over Cattawade at 13:45hrs.

Saturday 24th March.

Lowestoft Area - An adult Spoonbill was present on the scrape at Carlton Marshes SWT reserve. 

Southwold - Black Redstart in garden North of Gun Hill.

Minsmere - Adult Glossy Ibis from North hide early afternoon then flew SW + 5 Goosander on the reserve.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill on South Marsh + Black Redstart at the Southern end of the disused rail track.

Aldeburgh - The long-staying Coues's Arctic Redpoll remains at Hazelwood Common. Pale-bellied Brent Goose Slaughden on saltings South of the yacht club. Short-eared Owl & Jack Snipe seen on Town Marshes.

Hollesley - 2 Black Redstart by the RSPB car park.

Shingle Street - 2 Black Redstart by the cottages.

Felixstowe - 3 Firecrest & Black Redstart noted at LBO. (photo Lee Woods).

Long Melford - Single Hawfinch along Kentwell Hall Avenue.

Brecks - 2 Lesser-spotted Woodpecker Santon Downham on the Suffolk side of the river.

Friday 23rd March.

Lowestoft Area - Spoonbill North over Carlton Marshes at 10:50hrs.

Minsmere - Sandwich Tern on the scrape.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill & 97 EWFG. 2 Black Redstart at the Southern end of the rail-track.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll was again showing well at Hazelwood Common. A Pale-bellied Brent Goose was noted on saltings at Slaughden. (photos Mark Cornish).

Thursday 22nd March.

Lowestoft Area - Black Redstart Heritage Green Kessingland. Hawfinch Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Minsmere - Firecrest seen by the rhododendron tunnel.

Sizewell - 3 Black Redstart at Home Farm

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill still present + 95 EWFG. Black Redstart along the Southern end of the disused rail-track

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present & showing well at Hazelwood Common.

Felixstowe - White-spotted Bluethroat (photo David Bryant) still at Landguard + 4 Black Redstarts & Firecrest (photo Steve Dutton) showing well.

Ipswich - Shag present in the wet dock.

Wednesday 21st March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart (1 male) still Heritage Green Kessingland.

Minsmere - A Long-eared Owl was present in North bushes 08:00-09:00hrs then flew to South belt + 3 Firecrest ringed. 2 redhead Smew + Jack Snipe from North hide & Black Redstart by the discovery centre. Offshore, a near fsp Black-throated Diver was seen off the sluice.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still by the road bridge.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill + 146 Eurasian White-fronted Geese. Firecrest along the old railline & Black Redstart in horse paddocks at the Southern end.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll remains at Hazelwood Common. Short-eared Owl & Jack Snipe on Town Marshes.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marshes + 2 Whooper Swan on arable land.

Felixstowe - 2 White-spotted Bluethroats remain at Landguard + 2 Firecrest, 3 Black Redstart, 3 Snow Bunting over & Shag on the sea. Firecrest seen at the Customs House. Female type Black Redstart by St Nicholas church. (photo Crag Holden)

Weston - Black Redstart in garden within the village.

Lakenheath - Spoonbill still present.

Tuesday 20th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstarts (1 male) still at Heritage Green, Kessingland.

Minsmere - Glaucous Gull again on the scrape + adult Yellow-legged Gull & redhead Smew from the public screen. Water Pipit on South scrape.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

Boyton - 2 Whooper & single Bewicks Swan at Boyton Hall Marsh. 5 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marshes.

Deben Estuary - Short-eared Owl Kingsfleet.

Felixstowe - 2 White-spotted Bluethroats at Landguard today + 6 Black Redstarts & Firecrest present. 2 Purple Sands on the jetty. (photo Will Brame)

Trimley - The White-spotted Bluethroat was again seen at Trimley Marshes SWT in bushes by the main lagoon + 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese still present.

Lakenheath - Spoonbill at the far end of Joist Fen, 3 Great Egrets along the river + 2 Whooper Swan & 4 Water Pipits noted.

Risby - Short-eared Owl seen to fly East just est of Risby.

Monday 19th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart (2 male) Heritage Green, Kessingland, near-by Firecrest at the near-by sewage works.

Minsmere - 2 1st winter Glaucous Gull on the scrape this evening + Black Redstart & 5 Whooper Swan on the reserve. Firecrest by the Rhododendron tunnel & Hen Harrier over Clay Lane.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present.

Felixstowe - A White-spotted Bluethroat was trapped at LBO this afternoon (photo Mark Cornish) + 6 Black Redstarts on site.

Trimley - 2 Jack Snipe at the retreat.

East Bergholt - Red Kite over the East End hamlet.

Sunday 18th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Balck Redstarts at Kessingland, 2 (1 male) Heritage Green and 1 at the sluice. 2 Black Redstart (1 male) at Bungay in garden along Southend Street for 4th day.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew on South scrape.

Eastbridge - The adult Glossy Ibis remains on the flood.

Blaxhall - 2 Black Redstart (1 male) in field just north of Lime tree Farm, school lane.

Felixstowe - Male Black Redstart still LBO + adult Little Gull & Goosander offshore.

Trimley - A White-spotted Bluethroat was reported at Trimley Marsh SWT between visitor centre & 1st hide briefly. Fem Goosander Loompit Lake. 2 Jack Snipe at the retreat.

Saturday 17th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart still Heritage Green Kessingland though elusive. Firecrests seen at Kessing;and sewage works & Furze Wood, Corton.

Minsmere - The family party of Whooper Swans remain on the reserve as does the lone Sand Martin.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still by the roadbridge. Please do not park on soft verges.

Felixstowe - Single Black Redstart at LBO.

Orwell Estuary - The Greater Scaup remains on the river viewable by the bridge.

Cavenham - Female Merlin seen over Cavenham Heath early morning.

Friday 16th March.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Black Redstart by the Heritage Green. Black Redstart Corton at North end of the promenade. Black Redstart Benacre sluice.

Southwold - Black Redstart on roof of 13 North Road.

Dunwich - 3 Black Redstarts Dunwich Heath NT.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still present though distant.

Minsmere - 2 Black Redstart on the reserve (male by sluice bushes & fem in car park).

North Warren - Firecrest along the disused railtrack. 2 Water Pipit on North Marsh viewable from the centrel track + 3 Spoonbill, 135 EWFG & Merlin.

Aldeburgh - Black Redstarts were noted at the yacht club, Slaughden and by Fort Green.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marshes.

Bawdsey - 2 Shag seen on the defences at East Lane.

Felixstowe - 4 Black Redstart at LBO + 2 Firecrest.

Orwell Estuary - Greater Scaup still by the bridge + Shag.

Thursday 15th March.

Easton Bavents - Juv Glaucous Gull noted.

Minsmere - Sand Martin still over Is.mere.

Boyton - Short-eared Owl + Caspian Gull noted before flying to Havergate Is.

Shingle Street - Black Redstart (Mark Cornish).

Bawdsey - Shag present on the sea defences at East Lane. Black Redstart along Ferry Road. 

Felixstowe - Firecrest & White Wagtail at LBO. Hawfinch seen at Fagbury Cliff.

Orwell Estuary - Female Greater Scaup still on the river viewable by the Orwell bridge.

Wednesday 14th March.

Lowestoft Area - The drake Greater Scaup remains on Lound Lakes. Ringtail Hen Harrier South at 14:00hrs by Henstead church.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew still on the reserve.

Thorpeness - 8 Goosander (4 drake) on The Meare.

North Warren - 4 Spoonbill on South Marsh + 146 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - The long-staying Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show at Hazelwood Common opposite the white cottages 50 yards from the car park.

Boyton - 5 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marshes + ringtail Hen Harrier.

Bawdsey - Shag noted on the sea defences at East Lane.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart on the butts at LBO + 2 Firecrest.

Orwell Estuary - Female Greater Scaup still by the Orwell bridge.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander (1 drake) in Christchurch Park.

Thorpeness - 13 Goosander on The Meare.

North Warren - 4 Spoonbill on South Marsh.

Gedgrave - 2 ring-tail Hen Harriers seen over Gedgrave / Havergate Marshes.

Boyton - 10 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marshes.

Felixstowe - Dartford Warbler seen at the ferry by St. Nicholas church.

Ipswich - Single Waxwing along Tuddenham Road by Greshams sports and social club.

Needham Market - The Shag remains on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis NE of Ixworth at Nethersgate Street, Hopton.

Monday 12th March.

Lowestoft Area - Drake Greater Scaup still on Lound GP's + Firecrest at Blue Door Loke. Juvenile Glaucous Gull South off Benacre Cliffs.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis still on the flood.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill still on South Marsh + 142 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present & showing well today. Shag off Slaughden.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter drake Greater Scaup seen along The Strand.

Ipswich - 2 Goosander  (drake) on the wilderness pond Christchurch Park.

Needham Market - Juv Shag still on Needham Lake.

Sunday 11th March.

Southwold - Great Egret on Town Marshes.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew viewing from the public viewing platform.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill remain on South Marsh.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll as seen at 10:30hrs on Hazelwood Common.

Snape - Drake Garganey still Botany Marshes.

Trimley - 6 Greenland White-fronted Geese + single Pink-footed still viewing from the viewing platform at Trimley Marshes.

Tattingstone - Single Hawfinch seen at Tattaingstone Place.

Needham Market - The juvenile Shag continues to show well on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still present at Nethersgate Street (Hopton) viewed from the junction on Fen Street.

Saturday 10th March.

Covehithe - Juvenile Glaucous Gull seen South off the cliffs.

Minsmere - 5 Whooper Swan seen from Bittern hide. Jack Snipe viewable from North hide.

Eastbridge - Adult Glossy Ibis was seen again on the flood viewable from the road bridge.

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill still on South Marsh + c70 EWFG.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still present at Hazelwood Common though remains mobile.

Snape - Drake Garganey on Botany Marshes.

Deben Estuary - Whooper Swan still in Kirton Creek.

Needham Market - A juvenile Shag was present on Needham Lake.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis NE of Ixworth at Nethersgate Street viewed at the junction of Fen Street.

Friday 9th March.

Lowestoft Area - Juv Glaucous Gull again seen on Benacre Broad (2nd day).

North Warren - 3 Spoonbill on South Marsh.

Snape - Drake Garganey still on Botany Marsh.

Bawdsey - Snow Bunting at East Lane + 2 Black-throated Divers noted offshore (1 on the sea).

Ipswich - 2 Ring-necked Parakeets in the grounds of the cemetery.

Stowmarket - Raven seen in trees by Roots & Shoots garden centre

Santon Downham - 12 Parrot Crossbill between the river and railtrack.

Thursday 8th March.

North Warren - 144 EWFG on North Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll still Hazelwood Common though remains mobile.

Snape - Drake Garganey still on Botany Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 24 Red-breasted Mergs along The Strand.

Wednesday 7th March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinch present in the grounds of the Old Cemetery at Wrentham.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew remain on the scrape.

North Warren - 20 EWFG on North Marsh + Snow Bunting on the beach.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll was again seen today though mobile.

Gedgrave - Black Redstart seen + ringtail Hen Harrier seen over Havergate Is.

East Bergholt - Hawfinch seen by the car park at Flatford study centre at 10:30hrs.

Tuesday 6th March.

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew still on the reserve.

Thorpeness - 3 Goosander still on the mere + Little Gull offshore.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll continues to show well on Hazelwood Common.

Snape - Drake Garganey on Botany Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter Little Gull viewed from the river at Trimley.

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still NE of Ixworth at Hopton South of Nethergate Street near Fen Street junction.

Coues's Arctic Redpoll trapped and ringed at a private ringing site in SE Suffolk. (present for 2nd day)

Monday 5th March.

Lowestoft Area - Drake Greater Scaup on Lound Lakes (2nd day).

Minsmere - 2 redhead Smew + 6 Whooper Swan on Island Mere.

Thorpeness - 25 Snow Bunting on the beach at the ness + 2 Little Gull. 3 Goosander on the mere.

North Warren - 94 EWFG + Water Pipit on North Marsh & 2 Snow Bunting on the beach

Aldeburgh - Coues's Arctic Redpoll again seen at Hazelwood Common in field opposite white cottage.

Felixstowe - 4 Short-eared Owls seen along the tomline wall by the ferry.

Orwell Estuary - Little Gull on the foreshore viewed from Loompit Lake. Jack Snipe at the managed retreat Trimley.

Chelmodiston - 3 Corn Buntings along Lings Lane.

Needham Market - A Raven was seen West over Pipps Ford. 

Ixworth - Glossy Ibis still NE of Ixworth at Hopton at Nethergate Street in flooded field at 3.25pm (2nd day)

Sunday 4th March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinches at Wrentham Old Cemetery.

Westleton - 14 Bewicks Swan remain along the B1125.

Minsmere - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on East scrape + Caspian & Yellow-legged Gulls. Offshore 3 Little Gull noted.

Aldeburgh - The Coues's Arctic Redpoll was again seen early afternoon opposite cottages and showing well, bird hasn't been reported since 15th Feb. 5 Little Gull seen feeding offshore + 160 Eurasian White-fronted Geese flew North over the marshes at 09:00hrs. Purple Sand at Slaughden.

Felixstowe - 6 Little Gull off The Knolls 'Ferry' at the mouth of the Deben + Little Gull seen from the pier.

Lowestoft Area - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on Kessingland beach mid afternoon in front of cafe. 2 redhead Smew, 2 drake Goosander & Red-breasted Merg on Oulton Broad. Jack Snipe Furze Wood, Corton + 2 Little Gull offshore.

Minsmere - Whooper Swan on Is.mere.

Westleton - Possible Parrot Crossbill seen in flight East over the heath towards Dunwich at midday

Sizewell - 12 Little Gull North offshore.

Felixstowe  - 14  Little Gull offshore.

Long Melford - 4 Hawfinch seen at the start of Kentwell Hall Avenue early morning.

Friday 2nd March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 redhead Smew remain on Oulton Broad.

Felixstowe - 4 Little Gull close inshore off Landguard.

Thursday 1st March.

Lowestoft Area - 2 redhead Smew on Oulton Broad by The Wherry Hotel. Adult Little Gull Lake Lothing by railway bridge. Waxwing flew West over Crestview Drive at 10:10hrs.
