Monday 31st.

Waveney Area - Great Egret on the original scrape at Carlton Marsh SWT + 2 Wood Sands & 4 LRP noted.

Southwold - 2 Purple Sands on groynes just north of the pier. Offshore; 2 Little Gull & Black Tern north. 1w Caspian Gull & 1w YL Gull along the harbour mouth at 15:00hrs.

Blyth Estuary - 5 juvenile Curlew Sand on the estuary viewed from Wolsey Creek.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egret Sandymount Pool + 2 juv Little Stint on shore pools.

Thorpeness - Single Manx Shearwater offshore early morning.

Snape - The juvenile SPOTTED CRAKE remain at Botany Marsh though mobile and distant.

Alde Estuary - 12 Spoonbill still at Hazelwood Marsh SWT + Osprey & juv Little Stint & Curlew Sand.

Deben Estuary - 2 juv Curlew Sands Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - 2 Pied Fly at LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Juv Little Stint on the SWT reserve + Wood Sand & Black-necked Grebe still present.

Sunday 30th.

Waveney Area - Sea-watching highlights included a juvenile SABINE'S GULL that was seen north off Ness Point at 09:05hrs. 2 juv Long-tailed Skua off Corton with a further Long-tailed Skua of Ness Point also 7 Sooty Shearwater seen from Corton + 1 Sooty Shearwater off Ness Pt.

Covehithe - Juv Long-tailed Skua offshore this morning + 2 juv Arctic Terns.

Southwold - Sighting's from the shelter included a moulting adult SABINE'S GULL that was seen north 07:27 - 07:32hrs, 2 distant large Shearwater sp north at 06:35hrs, 2 juv Arctic Tern & 6 Long-tailed Skuas.

Alde Estuary - 9 Spoonbill + 3 Garganey & 2 juv Little Stint the highlights from around the estuary (photo Mark Cornish)

Slaughden - 2 juv Arctic Terns seen early morning.

Snape - Juvenile SPOTTED CRAKE still Botany Marsh.

Deben Estuary - 7 Curlew Sand Ramsholy Lodge Marsh + Wood Sand.

Felixstowe - Pied Fly LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Black-necked Grebe, Great Egret & Wood Sand seen at the SWT reserve.

Stour Estuary - Osprey over the estuary between Stutton Ness and Wrabness at 14:55hrs.

Saturday 29th.

Waveney Area - The 1w Red-backed Shrike continues to show on Gunton Warren though mobile & elusive at times (present for 6 days).

Covehithe - Pied Fly in clifftop hedge that bisects the field north of the broad.

Southwold - Sea-watching highlights from the shelter up-today included; 3 Long-tailed Skuas, Sooty & Manx Shearwater + 68 Fulmar. Juv Caspian Gull at the harbour at 15:35hrs.

Blythburgh - Caspian Gull & 23 YL Gulls by the water tower early afternoon.

Alde Estuary - Osprey, 5 Spoonbill + Little Stint seen at Hazelwood Marshes this afternoon.

Snape - The SPOTTED CRAKE continues to show on Botany Marsh @ TM.380.588 + Great Egret & Red Kite noted (record shot Andrew Moon).

Slaughden - Sea-watching offshore between 07:30 - 09:30 produced; Long-tailed Skua south + 3 Manx Shearwater, & 7 Arctic Terns north.

Deben Estuary - 5 Curlew Sands + 2 Wood Sand at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - Long-tailed Skua south off Brackenbury Cliff at 09:15hrs.

Trimley Marshes - Black-necked Grebe still on the reservoir of the SWT reserve + juv Wood & Curlew Sand, 2 Spotted Redshank, Garganey & Great Egret.

Friday 28th.

Waveney Area - Juvenile Red-backed Shrike still Gunton Warren this evening. 1st winter Caspian Gull on groynes along North Beach this morning.

Benacre - Wood Sand on the broad.

Southwold - Short-eared Owl in off this this evening + SEO north over Easton Bavents at 07:45hrs + Pied Fly & Whinchat noted. 3 Caspian Gull (2 juv/1w + 1 2w) along the harbour mouth. Shag on groynes north of the pier 

Minsmere - Wood Warbler rptd in bushes along North wall. Juvenile Curlew Sand on south scrape.

Sizewell - Short-eared Owl in off this morning + 5 Little Gulls off the rigs.

Alde Estuary - Highlights from around the estuary include; 1+ Osprey, 2 Curlew Sand, 2 juv Little Stint, 3 Spoonbill, 11 Whinchat, 49 Yellow Wagtail (one feeding flock) and a Bittern.

Snape - SPOTTED CRAKE seen from the mould at Botany Marsh at 14:18hrs until early evening at least + Wood Sand.

Deben Estuary - 3 Curlew Sands Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + Garganey.

Trimley Marshes - Black-necked Grebe still viewable from the river bank + Great Egret, 2 Curlew Sands & 2 Spotted Redshank.

Mildenhall - Pied Flycatcher seen briefly in a garden in the town.

Thursday 27th.

Waveney Area - Sea-watching highlights included a Juvenile Long-tailed Skua north off Corton @ 16:10hrs + a probable LTS seen distantly @ 14:35hrs & Sooty Shearwater north at 14:45hrs from the same watchpoint & Manx Shearwater north off Gunton @ 13:10hrs. Osprey seen between Burgh Castle and Breydon bridge at 11:42hrs. Great Egret Somerleyton on pool behind ind mill.

Southwold - Sea-watching highlights included 2 Long-tailed Skua North @ 13:42hrs and 14:53hrs + 3 Sooty Shearwater @ 15:10hrs and 2 @ 15:45hrs & a single Manx Shearwater early morning.

Walberswick - Great Egret on Tinkers Marsh then flew NW at 11:45hrs.

Minsmere - A juvenile Long-tailed Skua was present on "lucky pool" at 11:28hrs then flew north at 11:50hrs.

Alde Estuary - 5 Spoonbill still Hazelwood Marshes + at least 1 Osprey in the area.

Deben Estuary - 6 Curlew Sands at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - 2 Black Redstart at LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Black-necked Grebe still on the SWT reserve viewable from the river-bank.

Ipswich - HONEY BUZZARD seen south between Cliff quay and Orwell bridge at 12:30hrs

Wednesday 26th.

Waveney Area - 10 Manx Shearwater south off Corton then Ness Point + 3 Manxies north off Corton 16:10hrs.

Covehithe - 3 Spoonbill low south over the broad at 09:47hrs.

Southwold - 6 Manx Shearwater North offshore (3 at 15:35hrs & 3 more by 16:30hrs).

Blythburgh - Spoonbill present on the estuary viewable from the A12. 2 Caspian & 19 Y L Gulls on the pig-fields by the water tower.

Alde Estuary - 5 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + Osprey.

Deben Estuary - Juvenile Curlew Sand, 3 Little Stint, 4 LRP & 2 Spoonbill on Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret, 2 Curlew Sand & 3 Garganey on the SWT reserve.

Ipswich - Juvenile Caspian Gull + 2nd winter Y L Gull Cliff quay.

Lakenheath - 3 Great Egret Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Tuesday 25th.

Southwold - Highlights offshore between 14:30-16:30hrs included; 3 Black Tern, 3 Arctic Skua, 14 Arctic Tern, 5 Curlew Sands and an Osprey. 

Walberswick - Wood Sandpiper on Westwood Marsh.

Slaughden - 2 probable CORY'S SHEARWATER south at 08:35hrs + Sooty Shearwater south at 11:04hrs.

Alde Estuary - Highlights from around the estuary included; 4 Spoonbill, Little Stint & 7 Arctic Terns.

Felixstowe - 2 Sooty Shearwater (08:00 and 08:30hrs) south off LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Black-necked Grebe still present on the SWT reserve + Great Egret, Garganey, Curlew Sand & 3 Spotted Redshank.

Ipswich - Juvenile Caspian Gull on Cliff quay mid morning.

Monday 24th.

Waveney Area - Juv/1st winter Red-backed Shrike present on Gunton Warren late afternoon at least + Little Gull offshore at Ness Point.

Benacre - Juv/1w limosa Black-tailed Godwit on the broad + LRP.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey seen from Hen Reedbeds + Spoonbill.

Aldringham - Spoonbill south this evening.

Aldeburgh - Dark phase HONEY BUZZARD south just offshore this evening + Short-eared Owl on Town Marsh

Havergate - Raven over the RSPB rseerve at landed on Orfordness.

Deben Estuary - Wood Sand, 2 Little Stint & 4 Curlew Sand at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Trimley Marsh - Black-necked Grebe viewable on the reserve viewable from the river bank by the visitor centre + Great Egret, Curlew Sand, Garganey & 3 Spotted Redshank noted.

Ipswich - Dark phase HONEY BUZZARD south over NW Ipswich mid morning.

Sunday 23rd.

Blythburgh - 2 Caspian Gull + 37 Yellow-legged Gulls in the pigfields SW of Blythburgh water tower.

Dunwich - 3 Spoonbill North over beach car park at 09:15hrs.

Minsmere - The 1st winter Red-backed Shrike was again seen south 1/2 mile south of the sluice.

Boyton - Juvenile Wood Sand still on the flash.

Shingle Street - Whinchats seen by the tennis court & by Battery Cottage.

Deben Estuary - 4 juvenile Curlew Sands Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + Wood Sand.

Felixstowe - Short-eared Owl seen by the point at LBO (photo Will Brame).


Saturday 22nd.

Waveney Area - 3 Wood Sands on the scrape at Carlton Marshes.

Boyton - Juvenile Wood Sand still on the flash at Boyton Marshes.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat.

Deben Estuary - Juvenile Little Stint at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + 5 juvenile Curlew Sand.

Lakenheath - 4 Great Egret at Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Friday 21st.

Southwold - No sign of the 1st winter Red-backed Shrike by the water tower.

Walberswick - Juvenile Caspian Gull noted.

Hollesley - Black Tern seen in the river mouth viewed from Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Thursday 20th.

Waveney Area - Wood Sand and Garganey at Carlton Marsh SWT + 2 Spoonbill over

Benacre - HONEY BUZZARD SW over the broad at 10:52hrs.

Southwold - 1st winter Red-backed Shrike still present and showing well by the water tower.

Minsmere - A juvenile/1st winter Red-backed Shrike was found late morning by the sluice bushes though mobile (photo Andrew Moon).

Thorpeness - Wryneck still on the beach north of the old caravan park but very elusive.

Alde Estuary - Osprey fishing over the estuary viewed from Hazelwood Marshes + Spoonbill.

Deben Estuary - 4 Spoonbill Ramsholt Lodge Marsh

Trimley Marshes - The 2 Cattle Egret remain amongst the cattle on the SWT reserve + Great Egret seen from the viewing platform.

Lakenheath - Osprey over Joist Fen + Great Egret.


Wednesday 19th.

Lowestoft Area - 2 BALEARIC SHEARWATERS south off Ness Point at 15:25hrs + 2 Black Tern.

Southwold - The 1st winter Red-backed Shrike continues to show well just south of the water tower. The 2 BALEARIC SHEARWATERS seen off Ness Point passed distantly offshore at 15:58hrs.

Minsmere - A Red-backed Shrike was reported from along the North Wall at 12:30hrs.

Thorpeness - The Wryneck was again seen this morning on the beach in scrub just 100 yards north of the old caravan park and was still present at 16:00hrs though mobile.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Cattle Egret still on the SWT reserve in field with cattle.

Tuesday 18th.

Waveney Area - 5 Spoonbill SW inland over Corton at 11:05hrs. 2 Pied Flys Dip Farm.

Southwold - The juvenile/1st winter Red-backed Shrike continues to show 100 yards south of the water tower.

Reydon - Pied Fly seen in a garden at Reydon Smere.

Dunwich - 3 Whinchat seen along the beach 

Sizewell - 3 Whinchat seen between Sizewell and Minsmere + Pied Fly in the sluice bushes

Thorpeness - Wryneck again reported + 3 Whinchat noted, offshore 45 Little Gull.

Boyton - Juvenile Wood Sand still on the flash + Great Egret.

Bawdsey - Whinchat East Lane.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart still present at LBO.

Monday 17th.

Waveney Area - Wood Warbler still along Gunton railtrack + Pied Fly.

Benacre - 2 Pied Fly Beach Farm

Southwold - The juvenile Red-backed Shrike continues to show well just south of the water tower. Redstart + Pied Fly near the boating lake. 7 Pied Flys by the golf course/sewage works + Redstart (photo Brian Small).

Minsmere - 4 Pied Fly in the sluice bushes + adult Arctic Tern on the scrape.

Thorpeness - A Wryneck was discovered on the beach at 07:20hrs.

Hollesley - 3 Whinchat from the screen.

Shingle Street - 4 Whinchat, Redstart & Pied Fly noted.

Felixstowe - An ORTOLAN BUNTING was reported from LBO mid morning.

Sunday 16th.

Waveney Area - A GREENISH WARBLER was found shortly after 14:00hrs along the disused railtrack at Gunton + Wood Warbler. Wood Warbler Maltsters Score.

Southwold - Juvenile Red-backed Shrike still present south of the water tower.

Thorpeness - BALEARIC SHEARWATER, 2 Long-tailed Skua, Black Tern + 35 Little Gull seen offshore between 06:30 - 09:30hrs.

Alde Estuary - 2 Wood Sands still present.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Cattle Egret still on the SWT reserve.

Alton Water - Adult GULL-BILLED TERN still present.


There was a big clear out of Pied Flycatchers overnight with only 36 birds being reported today along with a scattering of Whinchat and Redstart

Saturday 15th.

Waveney Area - BALEARIC SHEARWATER north off Corton at 07:50hrs. Roseate Tern south off Ness Point at 08:40hrs.

Southwold - 2 BALEARIC SHEARWATERS north offshore (05:55hrs & 11:40hrs). Juvenile Red-backed Shrike found 100 yards south of the water tower.

Sizewell - Black Tern south.

Thorpeness - 27 Little Gull noted offshore.

Alde Estuary - Highlights from around the estuary include; Wood Warbler, Quail, 3 Whinchat, Little Stint and 2 Wood Sands.

Felixstowe - Pom Skua south.

Alde Estuary - The Norwegian rung Little Stint was still on Town Marshes + Great Egret.

Felixstowe - Pied Fly + 2 Black Redstart LBO.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Cattle Egret on the reserve + 2 Spot Redshank.

Alton Water - Adult GULL-BILLED TERN still present and showing well.

Thursday 13th.

Waveney Area - 6 Wood Sand Carlton Marshes.

Southwold - Pied Fly Waters Copse.

Minsmere - Pied Fly in the sluice bushes.

Alde Estuary - A moulting adult Little Stint (Norwegian ringed) was noted + 2 juv LRP noted.

Snape - Wood Sand Botany Marsh.

Boyton - Juvenile Wood Sand on the flash + Pied Fly in Boyton Wood.

Deben Estuary - 2 Spoonbill Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + Little Stint reported.

Orwell Estuary - Moulting adult GULL-BILLED TERN (Alton Water bird) seen over the river by  Trimley Marsh SWT.

Great Blakenham - HONEY BUZZARD West over Barhan towards Great Blakenham landfill site this evening.

Alton Water - Adult GULL-BILLED TERN still present.

Wednesday 12th.

Waveney Area - An ICETRINE WARBLER was reported fro Pakefiled (no further details). 2 Wood Sands Carlton Marshes.

Southwold - 2 juvenile Caspian Gull on the harbour wall.

Alde Estuary - 4 Whinchat & 2 juv LRP

Boyton - Great Egret on the flash.

Shingle Street - Whinchat.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart, Pied Fly & Whinchat noted at LBO.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN was again at the reservoir after last being seen at 07:10hrs yesterday.

Tuesday 11th.

Waveney Area - Osprey South over Ellough Road Beccles. 5 Wood Sands Carlton Marsh SWT.

Southwold - 2 Pied Flys in the sewage works + 3 Whinchat Easton Bavents.

Alde Estuary - Wood Sand Hazelwood Marsh.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart still LBO + 2 Pied Fly.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN was seen early am only.

Monday 10th.

Waveney Area - 2 Pied Fly Corton radar lodge.

Knodishall - Adult ROSE-COLOURED STARLING again this evening on St Andrews Road (photo Andrew Moon).

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat.

Deben Estuary - 5 Spoonbill Ramsholt Lodge Marsh

Alton Water - Adult GULL-BILLED TERN still present.

Needham Market - Raven over Pipps Ford.

Sunday 9th.

Waveney Area - 2 Wood Sands at Carlton Marsh SWT.

Southwold - 2 Pied Flycatcher seen in the town this morning with singletons being seen at Waters Copse and behind Stella Peskett Millennium Hall.

Knodishall - An adult ROSE-COLOURED STARLING was seen on rooftops this evening along St Andrews Road.

Shingle Street - Whinchat noted.

Deben Estuary - 6 Spoonbill Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - Pied Flycatcher trapped at LBO.

Orwell Estuary - Roseate Tern seen from Trimley Marshes early morning only.

Alton Water - The moulting adult GULL-BILLED TERN was again present and showing well at the dam end o the reservoir (photo Lee Woods).

Needham Market - A Stork sp was seen high South over Pipps Ford at 20:03hrs.

Hadleigh - Red Kite over the town.

Saturday 8th.

Waveney Area - 2 Garganey still on the old scrape at Carlton Marshes.

Reydon - HONEY BUZZARD south over the village at 09:57hrs.

Blythburgh - No sign this morning of the adult PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER.

Walberswick - HONEY BUZZARD south over Westood Marshes at 10:04hrs (same bird as the Reydon sighting). Caspian Gull or hybrid (yellow ringed  P:PX9 seen mid afternoon on the harbour wall (photo Brian Small).

Thorpeness - 10 adult Little Gulls were seen feeding offshore from the old caravan park.

Melton - Raven north over Melton cricket ground.

Deben Estuary - 3 Spoonbill on Ramsholt Lodge Marsh

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN continues to show well at the dam end of the reservoir, often sitting on railings of the water outlet.

Stowmarket - Red Kite over the town mid morning.

Friday 7th.

Waveney Area - 7+ Cattle Egret seen North over Mutford at 13:00hrs. Pied Flycatcher seen in elm tree just South of the entrance to St. Peter's churchyard, Gunton.

Blyth Estuary - An adult PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER was found in the estuary viewable from Hen Reedbeds at 07:20hrs where it remained until 08:09hrs when flew West and lost to view, also Spoonbill noted (photo Brian Small).

Westleton - A Pied Flycatcher was seen on the heath.

Deben Estuary - 3 Spoonbill (2 juvs) on Lodge Marsh Ramsholt + Wood Sandpiper. Red Kite over Falkenham Marshes.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart still at LBO.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN continued to show around the water outlet at the dam end of the reservoir + 5 Cattle Egret flew over SW at 11:54hrs.

Thursday 6th.

Waveney Area - Wood Sand Carlton Marsh SWT.

Sizewell - A NIGHT HERON was heard calling as it headed north over Sizewell Hall / Aldringham Walks at 21:40hrs.

Deben Estuary - 6 Spoonbill on Lodge Marsh, Ramsholt + Wood Sandpiper & Turtle Dove.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN continued to show well at the dam end of the reservoir.

Ipswich - A Common Crane was heard overnight (nocmig recording)

Wednesday 5th.

Waveney Area - 2 Garganey Carlton Marsh SWT + Wood Sandpiper & 3 LRP's.

Minsmere - Wood Sand on the konik field.

Felixstowe - 3 Cattle Egret were seen to ly NW over the town at 19:30hrs. A Little Stint was seen south offshore from LBO this morning.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN continues to show at the dam end of the reservoir, often sitting on railings of the water outfall (photo Andrew Moon & Brian Small).

Tuesday 4th.

Minsmere - 17 Spotted Redshank on East scrape + Little Gull.

Deben Estuary - 6 Spoonbill still Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + moulting adult Curlew Sand and Spotted Redshank present.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart still LBO.

Alton Water - The adult GULL-BILLED TERN that first seen on the 29 July, was again seen this afternoon at 14:37hrs on the outfall at the dam end of the reservoir. The bird remained until dusk evening (photos Gary Mowles).


Monday 3rd.

Waveney Area - 2 Spoonbill over Carlton Marshes early morning. 4 probable Common Crane were seen over Earsham at 13:30hrs.

Minsmere - Wood Sand on the konik field.

Boyton - Garganey on the flash.

Deben Estuary - 6 Spoonbill still Ramsholt Lodge Marsh + 2 Wood Sand still. Raven over Kirton Creek.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart still at LBO.

Kettlebaston - Raven heard over the village late morning + Red Kite.

Lakenheath - Osprey over Joist Fen + 2 Great Egret, 5 Common Crane & Garganey on the reserve.

Sunday 2nd.

Minsmere - Highlights from around the reserve include Wood Sand, 8 Spotted Redshank and 4 juv LRP.

Snape - Great Egret Botany Marsh.

Boyton - 4+ Cattle Egret rptd still present at Boyton Marsh RSPB.

Felixstowe - Yet another Wood Warbler trapped at LBO this morning (photo Will Brame).

Lakenheath - Great Egret seen early morning.


Saturday 1st.

Waveney Area - 4 Common Crane SE over Black Boy meadow Beccles. 2 Wood Sand at Carlton Marshes (Petos Marsh) + Garganey.

Minsmere - 2 Wood Sand still on the konik field.

Deben Estuary - 12 Spoonbill including the dutch ringed bird + 2 Wood Sands.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret in fields between the reserve and managed retreat.

Lakenheath - Osprey seen over the RSPB reserve early afternoon.
