Lowestoft Area - 5 Purple Sands Ness Point.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver remains on the broad viewable from the hide.

Wrentham - A LITTLE BUNTING was trapped, ringed and released at Blackmoor Farm this morning. Please note this is a private ringing site.

Dunwich - 3 Great Egrets on Dingle Marshes + 25 Snow Bunting on the beach (photo Brian Small).

Alde Estuary - The 5 Pale-bellied Brent Geese remain on Town Marshes.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show on the winter flood at Hollelsley Marsh RSPB, also 37 Eurasian White-fronted Geese & 2 Tundra Bean Geese on the scrape.

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD continues to show from Ferry Road. Purple Sand on the sea defences at East Lane.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean Geese still on the reserve thus afternoon.

Orwell Estuary - Immature Great Northern Diver off Stoke sailing club, Freston + the 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck still present.

Stour Estuary - 4 Slavonian Grebe off Stutton Ness.

Needham Market - A Glaucous Gull was seen East over Pipps Ford gravel workings at 15:35hrs.

Monday 30th.

Lowestoft Area - 14+ Water Pipit on Herringfleet Marshes, Somerleyton. 9 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Benacre - Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Minsmere - 7 Whooper Swan still on Island Mere.

Leiston - 7 Bewicks Swan in fields just East of Leiston industrial estate.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT was again in the field South of the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB. Male Merlin in fields by Oxley Dairy + 3 adult Whooper Swan & 2 Short-eared Owls noted.

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD continues to show over Bawdsey Marshes viewable from Ferry Road Bawdsey or more distantly from the Felixstowe side of the river. Male Snow Bunting at the quay on the shingle spit.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean Geese on the SWT reserve + Eurasian White-fronted Goose.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter Great Northern Diver along The Strand at 08:35hrs + 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck still being seen off Freston.

Sunday 29th.

Benacre - Immature Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Leiston - Up to 11 Bewicks Swan still in fields just East of the industrial estate.

North Warren - 180 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh + 2 Water Pipit.

Alde Estuary - Immature Great Northern Diver on the river viewable from Slaughden yacht club.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show from the river bank over-looking the winter flood + Spoonbill on the scrape.

Shingle Street - 3 adult Whooper Swan though mobile, the birds appear to be commuting between here and Boyton.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD again over Bawdsey Marshes viewed from Ferry Road.

Orwell Estuary - The 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck was again seen along The Strand at 14:40hrs.

Saturday 28th.

Lowestoft Area - 11 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver continues to show on the broad viewable form the hide.

Southwold - Purple Sand on sea defences just North of the pier.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egrets Dingle Marshes + 20 Snow Bunting on the beach.

Minsmere - Pom Skua South offshore + Little Gull. 7 Whooper Swan on Island Mere.

Leiston - 11 adult Bewicks Swan in fields East of Coastal Building supplies viewable off Lovers Lane.

North Warren - 135 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Alde Estuary - The 5 Pale-bellied Brent Geese remain on Town Marshes.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show in fields by the winter flood. 11 Eurasian White-fronted Geese circled the scrape + 3 Eurasian White-fronted Geese in off. 2 Velvet Scoter South offshore.

Felixstowe - Purple Sand on the point + Shag in the river.

Orwell Estuary - Male Hen Harrier seen East over Levington Creek this afternoon. 1st winter Long-tailed Duck still off The Strand + a late Eurasian Swallow over fields by Suffolk Food Hall.

Stour Estuary - Slavonian Grebe in Holbrook Bay.

Friday 27th.

Lowestoft Area - 9 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver remains on the broad.

Covehithe - Water Pipit seen again at the broad.

Southwold - The Pom Skua was again seen offshore just North of the pier.

Leiston - 11 Bewicks Swan still East of the industrial estate.

Hollesley - Having gone missing for 4 days, the presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT was again seen on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Deben Estuary - Great Northern Diver flew down river past Kyson Point at 12:00hrs

Orwell Estuary - The 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck was again seen off Stoke sailing club Freston. 2 Water Pipit seen at Levington Creek.

Thursday 26th.

Southwold - Pom Skua South past Gun Hill.

Aldringham - 3 Tundra Bean Geese South over Aldringham Walks at 10:15hrs.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck seen from Stoke sailing club Freston at 09:00hrs.

Wednesday 25th.

Lowestoft Area -2 Short-eared Owls seen at dusk at Carlton Marsh SWT.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Covehithe - Water Pipit on the broad.

Southwold - Water Pipit on Town Marshes.

Boyton - 14 Eurasian White-fronted Geese Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - 3 adult Whooper Swan present on the RSPB reserve though mobile.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl still present.

Bawdsey - 2 Purple Sands on the sea defences at East Lane (photo David and Margie Carter).

Tuesday 24th.

Aldeburgh - Great Northern Diver noted offshore.

Hollesley - No sign this morning of the presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT, 3 Whooper Swan South + singletons of Pink-footed and White-fronted Geese on the scrape.

Shingle Street - Great Northern Diver seen on the sea early afternoon. Short-eared Owl seen this afternoon + 2 Whooper Swan noted.

Flatford - 2 redhead Goosander by the bridge.

Monday 23rd.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver remains on the broad.

North Warren - 131 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Thorpeness - 2 Goosander on the meare.

Aldeburgh - 2 Snow Bunting on Town Marshes + 5 Pale-bellied Brent Geese.

Leiston - 11 Bewicks Swan still on the East side of Town and East of the industrial estate.

Snape - A juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD was seen sat on a pylon viewed from Langham bridge looking towards Botany Farm then flew over the road.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show at the Shingle Street end of the Hollesley Marshes winter flood + 11 Eurasian White-fronted Geese & Short-eared Owl noted.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD seen again over Bawdsey Marshes early afternoon.

Orwell Estuary - The 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck continues to show from Stoke sailing club, Freston.

Sunday 22nd.

Benacre - Immature Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Covehithe - Waxwing South over the village.

Minsmere - 3 Whooper Swan Island Mere.

Leiston - 11 Bewicks Swan remain in fields East of the Town in fields East of the industrial estate.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT which is presumed to be a SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show on the winter flood.

Shingle Street - 3 Whooper Swan flew North at 14:20hrs + 2 Short-eared Owl present.

Deben Estuary - Adult BLACK BRANT on fields on the eastern side of the estuary, c300 yards South of the yacht club.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck still showing along The Strand.

Lakenheath - An incredible 21 Water Pipits were seen to come in to roost this evening at the RSPB reserve.

Saturday 21st.

Lowestoft Area - 30+ Waxwing flew low West over Rectory Road Carlton Colville at 10:38hrs.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver continues to show from the hide at Benacre Broad.

Minsmere - Pom Skua South offshore + 7 Whooper Swan on Island Mere.

Leiston - 11 Bewicks Swan just East of the town in fields East of the industrial estate.

Thorpness - 12 Goosander on the meare mid morning.

North Warren - 88 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Hollesley - The long-staying 1st winter EASTERN (SIBERIAN) STONECHAT still present on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB + 2 Water Pipit, also 2 Eurasian White-fronted Geese noted + 2 Whooper Swan went over.

Orwell Estuary - Black-necked Grebe again viewable from the foreshore at Freston + 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck still present. Great Northern Diver of Levington Creek.

Friday 20th.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Waxwing along Rectory Road Carlton Colville this afternoon.

Benacre - The immature Great Northern Diver continues to show on the broad.

Minsmere - 3 Tundra Bean Geese reported on South levels though mobile.

Orwell Estuary - Black-necked Grebe (presumably that from Felixstowe Ferry) was today re-located off Freston + the 1st winter Long-tailed Duck remains.

Thursday 19th.

Lowestoft Area - Waxwing still at the junction of Rectory Road/The Street Carlton Colville mid afternoon.

Benacre - Immature Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Boyton - Eurasian White-fronted Goose on Boyton Marshes.

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter Long-tailed Duck still along The Strand.

Wednesday 18th.

Lowestoft Area - Waxwing seen still Rectory Road Carlton Colville.

Benacre - Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Hollesley - Presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT still Hollesley Marshes on the winter flood.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still reported on Bawdsey Marsh from Ferry Road. 3 Great Northern Divers South at 10:20hrs.

Felixstowe - The Black-necked Grebe is still at the shore pools by the ferry.

Orwell Estuary - Imm male Long-tailed Duck still of Stoke sailing club Freston (photo Peter Lakey).

Tuesday 17th.

Hollesley - Presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Felixstowe - The Black-necked Grebe continues to show well on the Southern saline lagoon at The Ferry (photo Barry Woodhouse).

Orwell Estuary - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER was again seen along The Strand + immature drake Long-tailed Duck was again seen on the river between Freston - Woolverstone.

Stour Estuary - 5 Slavonian Grebes seen on the river between Holbrook Bay - Stutton Ness.

Monday 16th.

Lowestoft Area - A single Waxwing was seen at the Southern end of Rectory Road Carlton Colville.

Benacre - A juvenile Great Northern Diver was showing well on the broad viewable from the hide.

Southwold - The Glossy Ibis continues to show on the main flash along the far reed drain.

Minsmere - Pomarine Skua offshore.

Thorpeness - A staggering 4157 Red-throated Divers recorded South offshore this morning.

Hollesley - Presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT still on the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes.

Shingle Street - 2 Whooper Swan West of Oxley Dairy + Short-eared Owl.

Deben Estuary - Adult BLACK BRANT from the river wall between Woodbridge and Kyson Point.

Felixstowe - The Black-necked Grebe continues to show well on pools by the ferry golf course clubhouse.

Orwell Estuary - A BLACK-THROATED DIVER was present along The Strand this afternoon, also on the river was a Great Northern Diver off Levington Creek and the 1st winter male Long-tailed Duck continued to show off Freston/The Strand also a very late Swallow was seen.

Stour Estuary - Slavonian Grebe in Holbrook Bay.

Sunday 15th.

Lowestoft Area - 3 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Southwold - A Glossy Ibis was present on the flash viewable from the disused railway line.

Aldeburgh - 2 Snow Bunting on the Western edge of Town Marshes this morning.

Havegate - 2 Spoonbill on the RSPB reserve + 2 Short-eared Owl.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (SIBERIAN STONECHAT) remain on the winter flood though distant + Short-eared Owl.

Shingle Street - 2 Short-eared Owl late afternoon.

Alderton - Short-eared Owl seen this afternoon.

Felixstowe - The confiding Black-necked Grebe continues to show remarkably well on the small saline lagoon by the ferry golf course clubhouse.

Orwell Estuary - An immature male Long-tailed Duck was seen off Stoke sailing club Freston + 43 Red-breasted Mergs & 3 imm/female Goosander between Freston/Woolverstone. Jack Snipe on Trimley managed retreat.

Lakenheath - 3 Great Egrets + at least 3 Water Pipits on the RSPB reserve + possible ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD reported again.

Saturday 14th.

Dunwich - 2 Long-tailed Duck South offshore then landed on the sea with 8 Common Scoter. 5 Great Egret Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - 7 Whooper and 11 Bewicks Swan on Is.mere.

Boyton - 12 Eurasian White-fronted Geese Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT presumably SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show at the Southern end of the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes.

Felixstowe - The very confiding Black-necked Grebe (photo Lee Woods) continues to show very well on the small saline lagoon just North of the golf clubhouse at the ferry, near-by, a Great Northern Diver was noted on the sea viewed from 'The Dip' drifting South close offshore. The Pale-bellied Brent Geese remains within the Brent Goose flock on the ferry marshes.

Lakenheath - A probable ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD was seen at Lakenheath Fen RSPB from Washland watch point mid morning + Great Egret.

Friday 13th.

Minsmere - Pomarine Skua offshore early morning.

Boyton - 3 Whooper Swan & 2 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT was again present at the Southern end of the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes.

Felixstowe - The Black-necked Grebe continues to show well on the saline lagoon at Felixstowe Ferry adjacent to the golf course. 2 Purple Sands on the point at LBO.

Stour Estuary - 7 Greater Scaup still off Mistley quay.

Thursday 12th.

Lowestoft Area - A Glossy Ibis was present on Petos Marsh Carlton Marshes this morning.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT continues to show at the Southern end of the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Felixstowe - Pom Skua noted close South offshore this morning. The confiding Black-necked Grebe still remain on the saline lagoon by the ferry golf course.

Wednesday 11th.

Walberswick - 15 Snow Bunting still Corporation Marshes + Short-eared Owl & Great Egret noted.

Havergate - 2 Spoonbill Havergate Island + 2 Short-eared Owls & 4 Spotted Redshank.

Boyton - 5 White-fronted & 2 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marshes, near-by 2 Whooper Swan in fields at Boyton Hall Farm.

Hollesley - The presumed 1st winter SIBERIAN STONECHAT was again present at the Southern end of the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still being seen over Queensfleet Marshes and Ramsholt Marshes.

Deben Estuary - A putative juvenile PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER was seen late afternoon on the Eastern bank of the river opposite the Woodbridge band stand

Felixstowe - Black-necked Grebe still present and showing very well on the Southern pool at the ferry, near-by a Pale-bellied Brent Goose was seen amongst the flock of Dark-bellied Brent Geese in fields by the derelict building (photo Will Brame).

Ipswich - 2 Ring-necked Parakeet still in the grounds of the Old Cemetery (photo Stewart Belfield) + 2 Ring-necked Parakeets over Defoe Road. 

Stour Estuary - 7 Greater Scaup still off Mistley quay (photo Peter Lakey).

Tuesday 10th.

Minsmere - 7 Whooper Swan still on Island Mere.

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD continues to show over Bawdsey Marshes and near-by Ramsholt Marshes.

Stour Estuary - 7 Greater Scaup viewable from Mistley quay on the Suffolk side of the channel.

Monday 9th.

Hollesley - 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (probable SIBERIAN) still on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB (photo Andrew Moon).

Felixstowe - The Black-necked Grebe continues to show well on the lagoon opposite the ferry golf club (photo Andrew Moon). A BLACK-THROATED DIVER was seen South offshore off Brackenbury Cliff before landing on the sea + Pom Skua North. Pom Skua South off LBO.

Sunday 8th.

Minsmere - 7 Whooper Swan on Island Mere.

Alde Estaury - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still present on the river off Brick dock.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (probable SIBERIAN STONECHAT) remains faithful to the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB. Adult Caspian Gull on the scrape.

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD continues to show at Bawdsey Marshes, also frequenting near-by Ramsholt Marshes.

Felixstowe - A Black-necked Grebe was seen both on the sea and shore pools by the ferry golf course for it's 2nd day (photo Craig Holden).

Saturday 7th.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Waxwing at the junction of Gunton church Lane and Glebe Close at 14:00hrs. 4 Snow Bunting by Kessingland shore pools.

Minsmere - 2 BLACK-THROATED DIVERS reported South offshore + Long-tailed Duck.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT sp (probably SIBERIAN) continues to show well on and off on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB (photo Lee Woods). A faeces sample has been obtained from the bird and will be sent off to be analysed + 1st winter Caspian Gull.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still viewable from Ferry Road though distant + Short-eared Owl. 2 Purple Sands along the sea defences at East Lane.

Felixstowe - 4 Snow Bunting at LBO early morning only.

Ipswich - 3 Ring-necked Parakeets in the Old Cemetery.

Friday 6th.

Minsmere - 6 Bewicks and 7 Whooper Swans on the reserve though mobile.

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still showing on the river.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (probably SIBERIAN) continues to show at the Southern end of the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes + Spoonbill on the scrape.

Thursday 5th.

Walberswick - 16 Snow Bunting Corporation Marsh.

Minsmere - Glossy Ibis reported on the reserve before flying North at 11:00hrs. 3 Bewicks Swan on Island Mere + 7 Whooper Swan.

Thorpeness - 12 Goosander (4 drake) on the meare.

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Great Northern Diver seen just South of the martello tower at Slaughden.

Orfordness - Male Hen Harrier over the NT reserve.

Boyton - 12 Eurasian White-fronted Geese Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - 1st winter EASTERN (SIBERIAN) STONECHAT was again showing by the winter flood at Hollesley Marshes.

Deben Estuary - Short-eared Owl Corporation Marsh, Falkenham.

Wednesday 4th.

Thorpeness - 4 redhead Goosander on the meare.

Alde Estuary - The juvenile Great Northern Diver continues to move up and down the river being seen from Brick dock and Slaughden yacht club.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (probable SIBERIAN) was again seen on the winter flood at Hollesley Marsh RSPB + Short-eared Owl.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still viewable from Ferry Road.

Ipswich - 4 Ring-necked Parakeets still showing well in the old cemetery (photo Barry Woodhouse).

Lakenheath - ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD rptd from Lakenheath Fen RSPB + Water Pipit & Hen Harrier noted.

Tuesday 3rd.

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still off Brick dock.

Havergate - 2 Short-eared Owls on the RSPB island.

Boyton - 11 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on Boyton Marshes + single Pink-footed Goose.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (probably Siberian) was again present on the flooded meadow South of the main scrape viewable from the river wall + Short-eared Owl.

Shingle Street - 3 Short-eared Owls in the area.

Deben Estuary - The adult BLACK BRANT was again seen on Falkenham Marshes.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still present at Bawdsey Marshes viewable from Ferry Road.

Deben Estuary - Pale-bellied Brent Goose Falkenham Marshes + Short-eared Owl.

Ipswich - 4 Ring-necked Parakeets still present and showing well in the Old Cemetery.

Lakenheath - 2 Water Pipit Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Monday 2nd

Dunwich - 2 Snow Bunting just North of the beach car park + a further 19 Snow Bunting on the beach by Corporation Marsh + single Twite. Also noted were 2 Great Egrets and a Jack Snipe.

Southwold - Purple Sand North of the pier on sea defences.

Sizewell - Long-tailed Duck North past Sizewell C at 11:30hrs.

Alde Estuary - The juvenile Great Northern Diver continues to show well on the river. A Short-eared Owl was seen quartering the riverbank at Sudbourne + Hen Harrier noted & 4 Pink-footed Geese on Town Marsh.

Hollesley - The 1st winter EASTERN STONECHAT (presumably SIBERIAN STONECHAT) continues to show well on the flooded meadow between Hollesley Marsh RSPB & Shingle Street (photo David Carter).

Shingle Street - 3 Short-eared Owls seen late afternoon (photo Jim Mountain).

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD continues to show from Ferry Road + Red Kite over.

Sunday 1st.

Lowestoft Area - Single Waxwing heard over Caldecott Road early morning. Great Egret Kessingland levels.

Southwold - A SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF was present by the sewage works. Great Northern Diver South offshore at 08:48hrs + Velvet Scoter & 5 Bonxie noted.

Minsmere - 2 Caspian Gull on South scrape + 5 Whooper Swan on pools West of North hide late afternoon

Alde Estuary - The juvenile Great Northern Diver continues to show of Brick dock.

Hollesley - A 1st winter male EASTERN STONECHAT (probably maurus/SIBERIAN STONECHAT) was found mid morning on the winter flood between Hollesley Marshes and Shingle Street and continued to show throughout the afternoon though at times was elusive and quite mobile + Water Pipit.
