Monday 31st December 2012.
Lowestoft Area - The juvenile Great Northern Diver continues to show well in Hamilton Dock.
Reydon - A male Hen Harrier was seen hunting over fields South of Smere Marshes.
North Warren - The 1st winter RED-BREASTED GOOSE remain on North Marsh associating with the 3 adult birds (this young individual was first seen on Thursday 27th Dec with 25 newly arrived White-fronted Geese on Hollesley Marsh before re-locating to this site the following day). 8 Tundra Bean Geese was also on North Marsh this morning including the 2 putative Taiga Beans, along with the single Pink-footed Goose and an impressive count of 234 White-fronted Geese.
Felixstowe - 8 Goosander + adult Little Gull South offshore from Landguard.
Orwell Est - The Great Northern Diver continues to show from Freston tho no sign of the female Long-tailed Duck, near-by 2 Shag and a Black-necked Grebe were seen along The Strand early afternoon.
Ipswich - 5 Waxwing along Bramford Road opposite nr.453 early afternoon.
Stour Est - Single Slav Grebe seen in Holbrook Bay.
Tattingstone - 4 redhead Smew remain in Larchwood Bay.
Sunday 30th December 2012.
Lowestoft Area - The Great Northern Diver remains in Hamilton + upto 3 Shag & Guillemot present. Both The Great White Egret and Rough-legged Buzzard were again viewable from the mound at Waveney Forest. 10 Bewicks Swan were present on Shipmeadow Marshes, Beccles this morning.

Walberswick - Little Stint & 2 Sanderling were noted on the shore pools this afternoon + 2 White-fronted Geese South at 13:40hrs.
Minsmere - 2 Smew (1 drake) still on the scrape.
North Warren - Good numbers of Geese present on North Marsh which included; 9 Pink-foots, 2 Bean, c170 White-fronts & 4 Red-breasted Geese including the newly arrived 1st winter individual.
Saxmundham - 20 Waxwing along the A12 between Saxmundham - Benhall.
Bawdsey - The 9 Snow Bunting were again present on the beach at East Lane + the 'sick' Red-throated Diver remains on the 3rd lagoon.
Orwell Est - Both Great Northern Diver & fem Long-tailed Duck were seen from Freston today, further down river single Pale-bellied Brent Goose & Greenshank were seen at the high tide roost at Coulton Creek, Chelmodiston.
Stutton - Great Northern Diver, 4 redhead Smew & redhead Goosander remain on Alton Water.
Saturday 29th December 2012.
Lowestoft Area - Great Northern Diver showing well in Hamilton Dock + imm Shag. Rough-legged Buzzard seen from the mound at Waveney Forest at 13:15hrs also Great White Egret seen from this location at 13:40hrs. 3 Bewicks Swan Shipmeadow Marshes.

Westleton - No sign today of the 5 Tundra Bean Geese, but a Common Redpoll was seen along with 32 Lesser Redpolls. 25+ Waxwing were seen on the heath to the entrance of Minsmere before flying off SW.

North Warren - A RED-BREASTED GOOSE (prob 1st winter) was seen distantly on North Marsh this afternoon (2nd day) This bird is a different individual to the regular 3 adult feral birds that frequent this site. also the 2 Bean Geese remain.
Bawdsey - 9 Snow Bunting on beach just North of the last lagoon + Red-throated Diver on the 3rd lagoon.
Felixstowe - 40 Waxwing of 3 seperate groups containing of 5, 20 & 15 birds were seen to fly South over Landguard by 11:15hrs. 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese were seen at the ferry + c5000 Golden Plover.
Trimley - 15+ Waxwing between Trimley and Levington early afternoon.
Orwell Est - Great Northern Diver seen from Freston tower.
Tattingstone - Highlights today from Alton Water included 4 redhead Smew from Larchwood hide, redhead Goosander and Slav Grebe between Larch amd Rabbits Woods & Great Northern Diver by buoy nr.8 at the dam end.
Great Livermere - The pig field produced 2 Caspian Gull (adult & 1st winter) 5 Yellow-legged Gulls (4 adults & 3rd winter) & a 1st winter Med Gull.
Friday 28th December 2012.
Minsmere - The 2 Smew (1 drake) were viewable from North hide today.
Eastbridge - 26 Bewicks & 4 Whooper Swan in fields on your left as you approach The eels foot Inn.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese remain in fields between Westleton - Dunwich.
Saxmundham - 100+ Waxwing were seen feeding on berries along the A12.
North Warren - 8 Pink-footed Geese seen in the NE corner of North Marsh early afternoon viewable from the coastal road.
Deben Est - Ringtail Hen Harrier seen over saltings between Hemley - Waldringfield this afternoon.
Alderton - 9 Waxwing seen on wires by the last house on the Bawdsey Road + ringtail Hen Harrier over Zoe's Wood at 14:30hrs.
Felixstowe - Ad Little Gull seen South off Landguard mid morning.
Orwell Est - No sign today of the fem Velvet Scoter between Freston and Woolverstone but the Great Northern Diver was still present. 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese seen at Levington Marina just after 08:00hrs.
Stutton - Great Northern Diver, drake Goosander & redhead Smew seen from the yacht club at Alton Water + 2 redhead Smew seen from Larchwood.
Sudbury - 20 Waxwing were again seen behind the Homebase outlet late morning.

Lowestoft Area - A Great White Egret was seen on Haddiscoe Island early afternoon.
Minsmere - 2 Smew were noted today which included a drake on Is.mere and redhead on the scrape.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese continue to show in fields along Westleton - Dunwich Road.
Eastbridge - 10 Bewicks Swan still remain.
Saxmundham - 110 Waxwing seen feeding along the A12 then flew towards Brooke farm estate at 15:15hrs.
North Warren - 2 Tundra Bean + single Pink-footed Goose still on North Marsh.
Rendlesham - 5 Waxwing early morning on Acer Road by surgery.
Deben Est - 6 Bewicks Swan Falkenham Creek.
Orwell Est - Both the Long-tailed Duck and Velvet Scoter remain along The Strand, further down river a Great Northern Diver was seen from the marina at Woolverstone & finally 2 Common Scoter were in Thorpe Bay, Trimley.
Stutton - The Great Northern Diver remains at the dam end of Alton Water.
Sudbury - 22 Waxwing on Springlands Way early afternoon.

Minsmere - Redhead Smew still on South scrape.
North Warren - The 2 Tundra Bean Geese remain on North Marsh showing well on pools in NE corner this afternoon + single Pink-footed Goose, also a Great White Egret was showing distantly in NW corner viewable from the road til 14:50hrs then flew North.
Eastbridge - 28 Bewicks and 4 Whooper Swan still present.

Bawdsey - 2 Waxwing South over East Lane this morning.
Alderton - 20 Waxwing in the garden of The Lodge.
Orwell Est - Both the female Velvet Scoter and Long-tailed Duck remain viewable from The Strand, near-by Slav Grebe from Freston. Greenshank present in Levington Creek. 2 Great Northern Divers were seen from Levington Marina.

Southwold - 8 Pink-footed Geese present in the SE corner of Town Marsh.
Bredfield - 2 Waxwing present in the village.
Martlesham - 2 Waxwing seen along the A14 at the junction with Foxhall Rd.
Trimley - 11+ Waxwing seen along the single track road adjacent to the A14. A probable Long-eared Owl was seen by the scramble pit at darkness.
Orwell Est - The fem Velvet Scoter continues to show along The Strand.
Stowmarket - 20 Waxwing still on Gun Cotton Way / Tomo Road roundabout.
Sudbury - 155 Waxwing seen on the Chiltern Industrial Estate at the junction of Milner Rd / Northern Road.
Monday 24th December 2012.
Lowestoft Area - 8 Waxwing seen on aerials at the junction of Sussex Rd/St. Margarets Rd.
Reydon - 18 Waxwing seen along Keens Lane.
Minsmere - Redhead Smew remain on the scrape, also drake Goosander on Is.mere along with 3 Whooper Swan (2 adults) and Short-eared Owl from East hide.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese continue to show along the Westleton - Dunwich Rd.
Eastbridge - 28 Bewicks Swan in fileds just South of the village + 4 adult Whooper Swan.
North Warren - The 2 Bean Geese sp remain on North Marsh + single Pink-footed Goose.
Trimley - 18 Waxwing seen along the single track road that runs parallel with the A14.
Orwell Est - The fem Velvet Scoter was again seen along the strand, a Shag was also noted by Orwell bridge. A Curlew Sand was seen at Thorpe Bay opposite Loompit Lake and the fem Long-tailed Duck was seen off Pin Mill.
Tattingstone - The Great White Egret continues to show by Lemons Hill bridge, Alton Water tho mobile, also present on the reservoir were 4 redhead Smew & redhead Goosander from Larchwood and the Great Northern Diver continues to show well from the yacht club.

Lowestoft Area - 15 Waxwing South over Lowestoft harbour at 11:23hrs + 10 Waxwing St.Margaret's Road at 10:50hrs.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese remain along Westleton - Blythburgh Road.
Minsmere - Redhead Smew still West scrape.
North Warren - 2 Tundra Bean, 1 Pink-foot & 150 White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.
Deben Est - 6 Bewicks Swan on Falkenham Marshes + 8 Waxwing over then landed by Falkenham church.
Newbourne - 9 Waxwing seen in the village.
Ipswich - c20 Waxwing seen on Scrivener Drive this afternoon.

Stutton - Both Great Northern Diver & Slav Grebe seen at the dam end of Alton Water, whilst 4 Slav Grebe & 2 redhead Smew seen from The Wonder at Tattingstone. 2 Pink-footed Geese were amonst the many Greylags.

Lowestoft Area - 15 Waxwing seen on Raglan Road at 13:25hrs before being spooked by a cat! 3 Waxwing North over Gunton Cliff.
Kessingland - Velvet Scoter North offshore + Black-throated Diver on the sea.
Minsmere - 25 Waxwing seen briefly in the carpark before flying off West.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL still showing well on the beach opposite the yacht club, the bird has now been present for 11 days.
Alderton - 7 Waxwing seen feeding on apples in the garden of The Lodge.

Blythburgh - 4 Whooper & 13 Bewicks Swan West of the water tower.
Eastbridge - 2 Bewicks Swan South of the village by the roadside.
Leiston - 40 Waxwing were seen at Waterloo Prk at 12:30hrs then flew West.
North Warren - 2 Bean Geese (possibly Taiga) present on North Marsh this morning.

Southwold - Highlights offshore included; Manx Shearwater 1 N, Bonxie 2, Black-throated Diver 1 N v close inshore, Little Gull 3 S & Eider 3 N.
Dunwich - No sign today of the juv drake Surf Scoter from the cliffs nor near-by Minsmere.
Westleton - 5 Tundra Bean Geese remain in fields along the Blythburgh-Westleton Road.
Eastbridge - 7 Bewicks Swan remain in fields South of the village.
North Warren - 2 Tundra Bean and a single Pink-footed Goose were seen on North Marsh.
Aldeburgh - The now long-staying 1st win HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL remain faithfull to the stretch of beach opposite the sailing club.

Reydon - 17 Bewicks Swan South of St. Felix school.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese remain in fields South of the water tower along the Westleton-Blythburgh Road.
Minsmere - An immature drk SURF SCOTER (1st for the county) was located on the sea opposite the North wall just after 15:00hrs and was seen to drift slowly North offshore and lost to view. 3 Whooper Swan present on Is.mere.
Eastbridge - 7 Bewicks Swan still just South of the village.
North Warren - 2 Tundra Bean Geese seen on North Marsh this afternoon.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL continues to draw the crowds in as it shows well on the beach opposite the yacht club. Shag offshore at 14:20hrs.

Benacre - Both the drake Smew & 4 Greater Scaup remain on Benacre Broad, near-by to the South both Jack Snipe and redhead Goosander were present on Covehithe Broad.
Blythburgh - 16 Waxwing were seen along the A12 in layby South of the village.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese were again in fields along the Blythburgh- Westleton Road.
North Warren - A single Pink-footed Goose was seen on North Marsh amongst the White-fronted Geese, also a single Whooper Swan was seen to fly over North.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL was again present on the shingle beach tho mobile, the bird was spooked by a Sparrowhawk at 13:15hrs and no further sign by dusk.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Waxwing seen on St. Anne's Road, Beccles.
Benacre - A drk Smew was noted on Benacre Broad + 4 Greater Scaup.
Blythburgh - 6 Waxwing were seen along the A12 South of Blythburgh, also 4 Bewicks and 3 Whooper Swan were seen in fields West of the water tower.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL was once again showing well either on the beach opposite the yacht club or by the yacht club itself.
Deben Est - 6 Bewicks Swan were seen between Falkenham - Kirton Creek.
Melton - A redhead Goosander was seen on Melton fishing lake early afternoon.
Trimley - 34 Waxwing were noted along the Trimley - Levington single track road adjacent to the A14. 17 Bewicks Swan were seen to fly over Trimley Marsh SWT and continue upriver.
Ipswich - Waxwings today were seen at; (45) at Copdock Interchange by the Currys outlet, (40) on Soanne Street by the entrance to Christchurch Park and finally (5) by the Jehovas Witness Hall on Knightsdale Road.
Tattingstone - The Great White Egret was again present West of Lemons Hill bridge and showing well, also 3 redhead Smew, drk Goosander & 3 Bewicks Swan seen from the wonder.

Monday 10th December 2012.
Southwold - 4 Waxwing on Nightingale Avenue at 1430.
North Warren - c60 Euraisan White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL was present on the beach today opposite the yacht though at times did wonder off at times, also 8 Goosander (1 drk) noted offshore.

Felixstowe - 14 Waxwing South over Landguard + adult Pale-bellied Brent Goose seen again at the ferry.
Ipswich - 50+ Waxwing remain around Inverness/Lanark Rd area of the town, also 25 Waxwing seen on the Kinghtsdale Ind Estate off Dales Road.
Grundisburgh - 26 Waxwing in front garden of 15 Post Mill Gardens mid afternoon.
Tattingstone - The Great White Egret was again seen late morning from Lemons Hill bridge tho generally elusive + 2 Goosander. (Please note that there has been several cars broken in to at this site so please be vigilant and don't leave valuables in your vehicle).

Lowestoft Area - 4 Waxwing seen on wires along the A145 at Beccles at 15:30hrs.
Reydon - c40 Bewicks Swan were to fly over Smear Marshes and continue inland, also Red Kite and male Hen Harrier noted.
Dunwich - c40 Twite present at Dingle Marshes.
Minsmere - 2 Pink-footed Geese present on South levels this morning.
Eastbridge - The 7 Bewicks Swans were still in fields South of the village.
Thorpeness - Offshore a Red-necked Grebe was seen to fly North, also 5 Greater Scaup went South and an impressive count of 1238 Red-throated Diver North.
Aldeburgh - The 1st winter HORNEMANN'S ARCTIC REDPOLL was again present and showing well all day along the beach opposite the yacht club. Trimley - 31 Waxwing seen along the single track approach road between Trimley - Levington opposite Morston Hall turning, also 20 Waxwing seen by Gosling Farm.
Ipswich - 45 Waxwing remain along Inverness Road though mobile, also 40+ Waxwing seen outside Tower Ramparts shopping centre then in trees at near-by Tower Street church.
Tattingstone - The Great White Egret was again viewable from Lemons Hill bridge, Alton Water, also noted on the reservoir were 4 Goosander (3 male) & singletons of both Smew and Slav Grebe.
Sudbury - 10 Waxwing were seen at the bottom of Tamage Rd/Acton Lane, Acton between 15:00-15:30hrs. 4 Waxwing seen in the B&Q carpark.
Livermere - 2 adult Yellow-legged Gull + 20 Brambling seen at Livermere Lake.
Saturday 8th December 2012.
Lowestoft Area - 7 Waxwing again at the junction of Banham Road/Rigbourne Hill Lane, Beccles. Firecrest still present in Warrenhouse Wood.
Walberswick - 8 Bewicks Swan seen to come in off today included 1 neck-collared individual, also offshore 7 Velvet Scoter were seen North at 12:50 then landed on sea.
Minsmere - A PENDULINE TIT was reported between North wall and North hide mid morning. 5 Tundra Bean Geese present on South levels, 11 Bewicks Swan on Is.mere and 18 Waxwing in North bushes.
Westleton - 5 Bewicks and 3 Whooper Swan were seen in fileds along the Blythburgh - Westleton Road.

Felixstowe - A single adult Pale-bellied Brent Goose was seen amongst c500 Dark-bellied Brent Geese at Felixstowe Ferry.

Southwold - 5 Pink-footed Geese seen on Town Marsh around lunch time.
Westleton - 17 Bewicks Swan in fields South of fiveways along the Blythburgh - Westleton though no sign of the 5 Tundra Bean Geese. 3 Waxwing seen in a garden within the village.
Minsmere - 12 Waxwing in the North bushes.
Aldringham - 5 Grey Geese presumed Tundra Bean were seen to fly South at 09:30hrs then North at 15:30hrs over Aldringham Walks.

Lowestoft Area - A Firecrest was seen amongst the tit flock at the Southern end of Warrenhouse Wood.
Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese remain in fields along the Blythburgh - Westleton Road just South of the fiveways junction.

Bredfield - 3 Waxwing seen in the village this morning + Red Kite present for 6th day.
Felixstowe - 28 Waxwing seen by the Martello tower on South Hill this afternoon. Ad male Black Redstart seen by shed 70 within the dock complex.
Trimley - Waxwings were seen by Searsons Farm (45) and by Goslings Farm (20).
Levington - 35+ Waxwing were seen by the gun shed by the approach road to the marina.
Ipswich - The Waxwing flock around Lanark / Inverness Road has to grown to an impressive c170 birds though they remain mobile. 39 Waxwing were seen in Portman Rd carpark this morning with 20+ birds remaining til early afternoon at least & 20 Waxwing were seen to fly over the near-by football stadium.

Westleton - The 5 Tundra Bean Geese were again seen in fields this morning East of the Dunwich Road.
Minsmere - A Great White Egret was seen to fly in at Island Mere and land in the reedbed nr post F at 11:40hrs.
Trimley - 24 Waxwing seen by Searson's Farm though mobile.
Grundisburgh - 80 Waxwing seen behind the church today, though none present in Post Mill Gardens.
Ipswich - 107 Waxwing seen feeding on berries outside 2 Lanark Road then bathing on roofs at near-by Fairlight Close.
Great Livermere - The Grey Phalarope was again present and showing well on Livermere Lake.

Lowestoft Area - 17 Bewicks Swan West over the River Waveney viewed from Carlton Marshes. A Rough-legged Buzzard was noted at Ellough.
Wangford - 42 Waxwing present by the playing fields and showing well + Jack Snipe over.

Walberswick - 5 Pink-footed Geese were seen SE of the bailey bridge today + 9 Bewicks Swan over. The shorepools produced 40 Twite, 5 Spot Reds and at least 1 Water Pipit. Offshore a Long-tailed Duck was seen North at 12:50hrs.
Westleton - 5 Tundra Bean Geese were noted in fields East of the Dunwich Road early morning and again late afternoon + 8 Bewicks Swan.

Trimley - Upto 33 Waxwing seen at Searons Farm today + single Waxwing over Hunters Farm. 12 Waxwing were seen by the reception centre at Trimley Marsh SWT + Merlin along the approach track.
Levington - A Green Sand was seen in the highways agency compound adjacent to the A14 by Walk Farm.
Ipswich - Waxwings were noted today on Colchester Road (50) by the allotments, (12) South over The Royal George at 11:25hrs, (12) along Bobbits Lane and (25) at Charles Street carpark with a further (30) flying over the latter site.

Great Livermere - A Grey Phalarope was a very note-worthy find on the inland water way at Livermere Lake. The bird was present from 14:30-15:50hrs at least.
Lakenheath - A male Hen Harrier was seen from Joist watchpoint + 20 Waxwing briefly by the visitor centre.

Wangford - 13 Waxwing seen by the playing fields this afternoon.
Reydon - Male Hen Harrier seen at Smear Marshes.
North Warren - c30 White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.
Felixstowe - 7 Waxwing over Landguard this morning.
Trimley - 20 Waxwing in trees adjacent to the car park at Trimley Marsh SWT by Searsons Farm, near-by 22 Waxwing seen by Walk Farm, Levington at 14:20hrs tho mobile.
Ipswich - Waxwings continue to dominate the news with birds being seen at Lanark Rd (35), South over Gretna Gardens (5), Alpe Street (14) and finally Sidegate Lane (90) which is the largest gathering thusfar during this early winter period. A mobile Ring-necked Parakeet was seen in the Stoke Park area of town.
