Lowestoft Area - Great Egret at Carlton Marshes this evening.

Minsmere - Redhead Smew, drake Red-crested Pochard and 6 Whooper Swan still on the reserve. 4 Caspian Gulls on East scrape at dusk.

Bawdsey - Firecrest atthe picnic site + 2 Purple Sands at East Lane.

Deben Estuary - 1w BLACK BRANT still Falkenham Marshes amongst Dark-bellied Brent Geese.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean Geese from the viewing platform + single Eurasian White-fronted Goose.

Friday 28th.

Lowestoft Area - The Shorelark continues to show well by the saline lagoon on the beach opposite 'The Hollies'. 15 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Minsmere - The redhead Smew was on West scrape this morning and more surprisingly was the sighting of a drake Red-crested Pochard on the reserve.

Shingle Street - 3 adult Whooper Swan still behind the pump house at Oxley Dairy.

Deben Estuary - A probable Black-necked Grebe was seen on the river from Deben Yacht Club South of Woodbridge railway station at approx TM.272.478.

Felixstowe - The 2 confiding Snow Bunting remain at the Southern end of the beach at LBO.

Thursday 27th.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver remains on the Broad.

Minsmere - Redhead Smew still on the scrape + 1st winter Caspian Gull.

Wednesday 26th.

Lowestoft Area - 6 Waxwing were present at the Southern end of Rectory Road, Carlton Colville. Shorelark again on the beach at Kessingland.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the Broad.

Covehithe - Water Pipit by the Broad.

Minsmere - Redhead Smew still om the scrape.

Hollesley - Great Egret Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Shingle Street - 2 Short-eared Owls seen along the sea wall.

Tuesday 25th.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the Broad.

Covehithe - Water Pipit Covehithe Broad.

Dunwich - Great Egret and 2 Spotted Redshank at the shore pools.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL again on East scrape + redhead Smew still on South scrape.

Felixstowe - A 1st winter BONAPARTE'S GULL was reported bathing on the river viewable from the Viewpoint Cafe, Landguard at 16:15hrs then flew upriver at 16:21hrs.

Needham Market - 2 Jack Snipe at the restored gravel pits at Pipps Ford + Water Pipit.

Brecks - Male Lesser-spotted Woodpecker 1/2ml West of the road-bridge at Santon Downham.

Monday 24th.

Minsmere - 6 Whooper Swan & redhead Smew still on the reserve.

Hollesley - 109 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the scrape at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl seen quartering meadow behind Battery Cottage.

Sunday 23rd.

Lowestoft Area - Shorelark still on Kessingland beach by the saline lagoon this afternoon.

Minsmere - Redhead Smew still on South scrape.

Alde Estuary - 3 Pink-footed Geese still on Town Marshes + 8 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Hollesley - c100 Eurasian White-fronted Geese still Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Bawdsey - Firecrest at the picnic site.

Deben Estuary - 1st winter BLACK BRANT still Falkenham Marshes.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting still by the broad-walk at the Southern end of the common at LBO + 2 Purple Sands remain on the point.

Stour Estuary - Slavonian Grebe off Mistley Walls.

Saturday 22nd.

Lowestoft Area - Great Egret Carlton Marsh SWT.

Minsmere - Highlights from around the reserve today included 2 Whooper Swan, redhead Smew, 2 Goosander (1 drake) and Red Kite.

North Warren - 46 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Alde Estuary - 8 Water Pipits seen around Hazelwood Marshes.

Hollesley - 3 Caspian Gull on the scrape + c100 Eurasian White-fronted Geese & 3 adult Whooper Swan. The hybrid Goose resembling a Greenland White-fronted Goose was again noted. Firecrest seen again in wood opposite the Selbys cafe sign.

Deben Estuary - The 1st winter BLACK BRANT was again seen on Falkenham Marshes viewed from end of Sheepgate Lane.

Felixstowe - The 2 confiding Snow Buntings remain st the Southern end of the beach at LBO + 2 Purple Sands still on the point.

Stour Estuary - Female Greater Scaup of Mistley quay.

Friday 21st.

Lowestoft Area - 9 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the Broad.

Dunwich - 14 Twite + 22 Snow Bunting approx 2km North of the beach car park + 4 Great Egrets on Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL was showing from the wildlife lookout today + redhead Smew still on South scrape.

North Warren - Water Pipit on North Marsh,

Havergate - 1st winter Caspian Gull on the RSPB island.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting remain at LBO + 2 Purple Sands on the point.

Ipswich - A Shag was seen in the dock + Yellow-legged Gull off Cliff quay.

Bramford - No sign of the 2nd winter BLACK-THROATED DIVER today at Suffolk Water Park.

Thursday 20th.

Lowestoft Area - The Shorelark was again on the saline lagoon on Kessingland North beach. 9 Purple Sands on the rocks 100 yards South of Ness Point.

Dunwich - 21 Snow Bunting, 16 Twite & 2+ Great Egrets on Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL was again on the scrape though generally elusive + redhead Smew, 4 Goosander and 6 Whooper Swan noted.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park. As previously mentionedIf visiting this sensitive site, please use the facilities at the Waterfront Diner as an appreciation for access and view ONLY from this watch-point.

Stutton - Raven heard calling over Queech Lane heading towards Brantham.

Wednesday 19th.

Lowestoft Area - Shag still Lake Lothing East of the footbridge over the railway.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the broad + 4 Red Kite in the area.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still on East scrape + redhead Smew, 13 Goosander & 6 Whooper Swan seen around the reserve.

Hollesley - A hybrid Goose (prob Bar-headed x Greylag) that resembled a Greenland White-fronted Goose was present on the scrape.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl seen again this afternoon + 3 adult Whooper Swan still West of Oxley Dairy

Bawdsey - 2 Water Pipits still in flooded beet field near derelict Martello tower.

Orwell Estuary - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still of Freston.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show on the fishing lake, please view from the waterfront diner.

Santon Downham - 2 Lesser-spotted Woodpeckers 1ml West of the road bridge.

Tuesday 18th.

Lowestoft Area - The Shorelark continues to show by the largest saline lagoon on Kessingland beach. Shag at Lake Lothing seen from the footbridge over the railway track. Great Egret on Carlton Marshes

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL on East scrape, also noted on the reserve redhead Smew on South scrape and 6 Whooper Swan behind South hide.

North Warren - 139 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on North Marsh.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl by Oxley Dairy at 15:45hrs.

Bawdsey - 2 Water Pipit still in fields by the ruined martello tower North of the lagoons at East Lane + Snow Bunting on the beach.

Bramford - The long-staying BLACK-THROATED DIVER remains on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park.

Red Kites (5) were noted today at Kitchen Wood, Wrentham, Wenhaston, Stockton, Union Road, Stowmarket and Puttocks Hill, Pakenham.

Monday 17th.

Lowestoft Area - Shorelark again on Kessingland beach by the large saline lagoon + 5 Snow Bunting. 2 Shag Lake Lothing opposite the footbridge over the railway near Leathes Ham. Short-eared Owl Carlton Marshes.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the Broad.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still on East scrape + redhead Smew.

Alde Estuary - 3 Pink-footed Geese still on Town Marshes + 25 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Bawdsey - 2 Water Pipit still on the old sugar beet field just beyond the 2nd martello tower North of East Lane lagoons + 4 Snow Bunting on the beach.

Deben Estuary - 1st winter BLACK BRANT again Falkenham Marshes + juvenile Pale-bellied Brent Goose.

Orwell Estuary - Both the Long-tailed Duck & Great Northern Diver still at Freston just East of the moored boats.

Sunday 16th.

Lowestoft Area - 12 Purple Sands at Ness Point.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL viewable from North hide this afternoon.

Hollesley - c80 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the scrape.

Stour Estuary - Greater Scaup off Mistley quay.

Saturday 15th.

Lowestoft Area - The confiding Shorelark was again present by the largest saline lagoon on Kessingland beach + 5 Snow Bunting present. Shag Lake Lothing on the jetty by the Cruising Club. Water Pipit Carlton Marshes + Great Egret early morning only.

Hollesley - Water Pipit seen along the river wall on Simpsons saltings, on the scrape c70 Eurasian White-fronted Geese and 2 adult YL Gulls.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER still present and showing well viewed from the waterfront diner at Suffolk Water Park.

Friday 14th.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Hawfinch at Sotterley Park this morning seen in The Dell. Great Egret on Carlton Mars SWT this morning. Shag on Lake Lothing.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL continues to show on East scrape as does the redhead Smew.

Boyton - Great Egret on Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - c90 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on Hollesley Marshes + adult Caspian Gull.

Shingle Street - 3 Whooper Swan still in fields behind the pump house at Oxley Dairy.

Bawdsey - 2 Water Pipits seen on the sugar beet field by the ruined martello tower between East Lane - Shingle Street + Corn Bunting, also 4 Snow Bunting still on the beach.

Deben Estuary - The 1st winter BLACK BRANT was again seen on Falkenham Marshes (photo Peter Lakey) + Water Pipit by the farmers reservoir near Redhouse Farm Falkenham.

Orwell Estuary - Long-tailed Duck still off Stoke sailing club Freston.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park.

Thursday 13th.

Lowestoft Area - Shag on the jetty near Lowestot sailing club, Oulton Broad.

Minsmere - Both the drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL and redhead Smew remain on the scrape + 4 Whooper Swan on the konik field.

North Warren - 2 Spoonbill (adult & 1st winter) on South Marsh.

Havergate - The EASTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL was again seen on the RSPB reserve at 11:00hrs.

Deben Estuary - Water Pipit still by the reservoir near Red House Falkenham.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show well on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park. Please view only from the diner from which great food and coffee can be had !

Wednesday 12th.

Lowestoft Area - 9 Purple Sands at Ness Point this morning. 2 Shag on Lake Lothing.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL commuting between East and West scrape + redhead Smew still on South scrape.

North Warren - 45 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on South Marsh.

Aldeburgh - 3 Pink-footed Geese still on Town Marshes + 30 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Deben Estuary - 1st winter BLACK BRANT Falkenham Marshes + Pale-bellied Brent Goose. Water Pipit still by the reservoir by Gosford Hall - Redhouse Farm Falkenham (photo Peter Lakey).

Orwell Estuary - 1st winter drake Long-tailed Duck and Great Northern Diver still of Stoke sailing club, Freston.

Tuesday 11th.

Lowestoft Area - The Shorelark was again seen by the northern edge of the large pool opposite 'the Hollies'.

Wenhaston - Long-eared Owl again in a garden within the village.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still present and showing on East scrape today. Redhead Smew on South scrape + Great Egret on the levels.

Shingle Street - 3 adult Whooper Swan in fields behind the pumping station at Oxley Dairy.

Deben Estuary - A Pale-bellied Brent Goose was seen amongst the Dark-bellied Brent Geese flock at Falkenham Marshes, near-by the Water Pipit was seen on the reservoir by Gosford Hall - Redhouse Farm Falkenham.

Trimley Marshes - 4 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on the SWT reserve.

Bramford - BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show well on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park. As previously mentioned, if birders could visit the cafe and please make a purchase + view from there that would be great.

Monday 10th.

Lowestoft Area - No sign of the Shorelark on Kessingland beach today.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL again on West scrape.

Hollesley - 92 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on Hollesley Marshes.

Bawdsey - 5 Snow Bunting still present on the beach at East Lane.

Sunday 9th.

Hollesley - Great Egret still Hollesley Marsh RSPB though mobile + ad Caspian Gull, 3 Y L Gulls and c90 Eurasian White-fronted Geese noted.

Bramford - The BLACK-THROATED DIVER continues to show on the fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park. If visiting the site, please make a purchase from the cafe and view ONLY from this area.

Saturday 8th.

Lowestoft Area - The confiding Shorelark continues to show well on Kessingland beach by the Northern edge of the North pool (photo Barry Woodhouse).

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the Broad.

Dunwich - 14 Twite remain on the beach North of the beach car park + 15 Snow Bunting.

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL was showing well on East scrape today + redhead Smew and female Common Scoter present.

North Warren - 2 Spoonbill on South Marsh still.

Alde Estuary - 3 Pink-footed Geese seen on Town Marshes + 25 Eurasian White-fronted Geese. On the river, the juvenile Great Northern Diver was seen off Slaughden yacht club.

Hollesley - Great Egret still Hollesley Marsh RSPB + c90 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD again Bawdsey Marshes viewed from Ferry Road.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting remain on the beach at LBO + 2 Purple Sands on the point.

Bramford - Adult BLACK-THROATED DIVER on the main fishing lake at Suffolk Water Park. This is a sensitive site so please view ONLY from the cafe.

Friday 7th.

Lowestoft Area - The obliging Shorelark continues to show well at Kessingland on the beach by the largest saline lagoon.

Benacre - The juvenile Great Northern Diver remains to be seen on the the Broad.

Covehithe - Water Pipit seen on the Broad, nearby 2 Tree Sparrows seen at Easton Bavents.

Walberswick - 2 Whooper Swan on pools by Hoist Covert. 6 Twite by the Southern end of the large shorepools

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL continues to show on West scrape + redhead Smew again on South scrape.

Havegate - The EASTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL was again seen on the RSPB reserve at 10:30hrs. 

Hollesley - 2 Great Egrets on the RSPB reserve.

Bawdsey - No sign today of the juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD on Bawdsey Marshes though construction work currently on-going by it's favoured bush. Firecrest seen at the picnic site. 5 Snow Bunting still on the beach between East Lane - Shingle Street.

Ipswich - 2 Ring-necked Parakeets (pair) still within the Old Cemetery.

Cavenham - 2 Red Kite Cavenham - Lackford Road.

Lakenheath - 10+ Common Crane at the RSPB reserve.

Thursday 6th.

Lowestoft Area - A drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL found early morning viewable from the South wall just East of the windpump.

Dunwich - 12+ Twite on the shingle beach by the shorepools including a colour-ringed individual (Green and Orange). 2 Whooper Swan on Corporation Marshes.

Minsmere - The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL was on East scrape this morning + redhead Smew on South scrape.

Thorpeness - 2 Goosander on the meare.

North Warren - 2 Spoonbill on South Marsh.

Hollesley Marshes - Great Egret again on the reserve + 89 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Bawdsey - Firecrest at the picnic site. 3 adult Whooper Swan in fields by the martello tower just North o the lagoons at East Lane.

Deben Estuary - Water Pipit present again this afternoon by the small farm reservoir on Sheepgate Lane Falkenham.

Stour Estaury - 5 Greater Scaup still off Mistley quay.

Wednesday 5th.

Benacre - Juvenile Great Northern Diver still on the broad.

Covehithe - 4 Twite approx 300 yards North of the demolished clifftop cottages.

Dunwich - 13 Twite again on the shingle ridge North of beach car park + 24 Snow Bunting & Great Egret. 5 Whooper Swan still on pools at Westwood Marsh, Walberswick.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still on West scrape + redhead Smew on South scrape and a 2nd calendar year Caspian Gull on East scrape.

Thorpeness - 8 Goosander on the meare.

Hollesley - 21 Tundra Bean Geese in fields West of Hollesley Marsh RSPB + 2 Pink-footed Geese amongst c100 Eurasian White-fronted Geese also Great Egret noted.

Shingle Street - 3 adult Whooper Swan still on winter wheat field beyond the pumping station at Oxley Dairy + 2 Short-eared Owls noted.

Bawdsey - The juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD was again seen over Bawdsey Marshes then seen to go to roost within the grounds of Bawdsey Manor just prior to dusk.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting still on the beach at LBO.

Tuesday 4th.

Lowestoftoft Area - Shorelark was again present and showing very well on Kessingland North beach this morning. 

Wenhaston - A Long-eared Owl was discovered roosting in a garden in the village today.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still on West scrape though generally elusive + redhead Smew still present.

Hollesley - 18 Tundra Bean Geese again in fields West of Warren Hill prison this morning then on the scrape at the near-by Hollesley Marsh RSPB where they were joined by c40 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Havergate - The EASTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL that was last seen on the RSPB reserve on 14th November 2019 was again seen and heard this afternoon !

Deben Estuary - Water Pipit again by the farmers reservoir at Falkenham.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting still present and showing well on the common at LBO (photo Will Brame).

Monday 3rd.

Blythburgh - 13 Bewicks Swan still North of Hinton cross-roads.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still on the scrape + redhead Smew.

Thorpeness - 4 Goosander on the meare.

Hollesley - 18 Tundra Bean Geese still in fields West of Warren Hill.

Deben Estuary - Short-eared Owl seen at Kingsfleet mobbing a Marsh Harrier.

Felixstowe - 2 Snow Bunting continue to show on the beach at LBO.

Stour Estuary - 4 Slavonian Grebes between Holbrook Bay - Stutton Ness.

Sunday 2nd.

Lowestoft Area - The Shorelark was again seen on the beach at Kessingland by the saline lagoon + 6 Snow Bunting. 11 Purple Sands at Ness Point. Short-eared Owl Carlton Marshes SWT.

Benacre - Great Northern Diver still the Broad.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL still viewable from West hide + 2 adult Spoonbill, also the redhead Smew was again resent on the scrape.

Hollesley - 15 Tundra Bean Geese still in fields by Hollesley Marsh RSPB + c80 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Shingle Street - 3 adult Whooper Swan still on the winter wheat field by the pump house at Oxley Dairy (photo Barry Woodhouse).

Bawdsey - Juvenile ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD still Bawdsey Marshes late aternoon. 7 Snow Bunting East on shingle ridge by first martello tower North of East Lane lagoons

Felixstowe - An Iceland Gull (prob 1st winter) was seen to come in offshore at LBO and up the river this morning + 2 Snow Bunting remain on site.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean & 8 Eurasian White-fronted Geese from the view point.

Orwell Estuary - Water Pipit at Levington Creek.

Saturday 1st.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Great Egrets roosted at Carlton Marsh SWT.

Covehithe - 4 Twite by the South end of the Broad then flew South.

Blythburgh - 11 adult Bewicks Swan still North of Hinton cross-roads.

Dunwich - 5 Whooper Swan in pools near Dingle Hills.

Minsmere - Drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL continues to show on West scrape + redhead Smew.

Boyton - 8 Eurasian White-fronted Geese Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley Marshes - 18 Tundra Bean Geese + c70 Eurasian White-fronted Geese but no sign of the recent Spoonbill.

Shingle Street - 3 Whooper Swan still present in winter wheat field viewed from the pump house by Oxley Dairy.

Bawdsey - Firecrest with the tit flock at the quay picnic site.

Trimley Marshes - 2 Tundra Bean Geese from the viewpoint + 8 Eurasian White-fronted Geese. Water Pipit on the summer flood.
