Note: Confirmation that DNA from the Dunwich Iberian Chiffchaff shows that it is "diagnostically P. ibericus".

Sunday 30th.

Minsmere - The adult WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN continued to show on the scrape today. + 5 Spoonbill over early morning (photo Andrew Moon).

Saturday 29th.

Lowestoft Area - A BEE-EATER was heard North over Corton at 15:35hrs. HONEY BUZZARD drifted low South over Black Boy Meadow, Beccles at 14:10hrs. SAVI'S WARBLER Carlton Marshes.

Walberswick - 2 BEE-EATER were seen South over Walberswick Common at 12:20hrs.

Minsmere - A WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN in full summer plumage was found at 08:40hrs on South scrape and remained throughout the morning/early afternoon though mobile. BEE-EATER heard over the visitor centre / Whin Hill late afternoon. The long-staying SAVI'S WARBLER remains on Island Mere.

Aldeburgh - 2 BEE-EATERS NE over the Town mid afternoon + 2 Spoonbill over early evening.

Friday 28th.

Benacre - Spoonbill on the broad + two 1st summer Little Gulls.

Walberswick - 4 summer plumage Spotted Redshank on Tinkers Marsh.

Minsmere - 10 Spotted Redshank on the scrape + eclipse drake Garganey.

Felixstowe - A SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF was trapped and ringed at LBO. The bird was not heard to call but identification was confirmed through DNA. (photo Will Brame).

Thursday 27th.

Boyton - 2 Spoonbill Boyton Marshes.

Wednesday 26th.

Westleton - HONEY BUZZARD seen South over Westleton Heath being mobbed by a Crow and heading towards the common at 17:50hrs.

Hollesley - Single Spoonbill Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Tuesday 25th.

Needham Market - 3 RAVEN over the gravel pits at Pipps Ford.

Monday 24th.

Felixstowe - 2 BEE-EATERS South over LBO at 10:25hrs and what was presumably the same birds were noted over Dungeness (Kent) at 15:50hrs.

Sunday 23rd.

Felixstowe - A HOOPOE was seen by the seawatching at LBO at 09:24hrs and remained until 10:08hrs when flew high South over the river mouth yowards Essex (Dovercourt).

Saturday 22nd.

Dunwich - Great Egret Dingle Marshes.

Saxmundahm - Singing Firecrest next to Tesco's car park.

Hollesley - 2 immature Spoonbills Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Friday 21st.

Minsmere - SAVI'S WARBLER still Island Mere + Spoonbill & 5 Spotted Redshank on the scrape.

North Warren - Singing male Quail in field North of the hide along Thorpe Road.

Thursday 20th.

Hollesley - 2 Spoonbill Hollesley Marsh RSBP + Wood Sand briefly.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart LBO.

Ipswich - 4 Ring-necked Parakeets in the Nelson Road area of town at 08:00hrs.

Lakenheath - Singing male Quail at Lakenheath Fen RSPB by Joist Fen.

Wednesday 19th.

Dunwich - IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF still present on Dunwich Heath.

Minsmere - SAVIS' WARBLER still island Mare.

Hollesley - 2 Wood Sand Hollesley Masrh RSPB.

Tuesday 18th.

Dunwich - The long-staying male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and show by Centenary Pond.

Minsmere - SAVI'S WARBLER still Island Mere.

North Warren - Quail heard singing from along the disused rail-track at TM.463.593

Monday 17th.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing by the Centenary Pond.

Alde Estuary - Single Quail still Hazelwood Marsh in meadow beyond last cottage.

Boyton - Great Egret Boyton Marshes.

Deben Estuary - 2 Corn Bunting in wheat field at the seaward end of Falkenham Marshes.

Sunday 16th.

Dunwich - IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF still present.

Minsmere - SAVI'S WARBLER still from Island Mere + 1s Arctic Tern still on South scrape.

Alde Estuary - 2 Quail Hazelwoood Common + Spoonbill on the estuary.

Saturday 15th.

Westleton - A male Red-backed Shrike was present this afternoon on the heath viewable West of the NE car park.

Dunwich - Singing male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF still present on the heath South of coastguard cottages.

Minsmere - SAVI'S WARBLER still from Island Mere.

Alde Estuary - 2 summer plumage Spotted Redshank on Town Marshes.

Friday 14th.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF remains on Dunwich Heath.

Minsmere - 1st summer Arctic Tern on South scrape.

Hollesley - 2 Spoonbill Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Thursday 13th.

Dunwich - The long-staying IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF remains in the vicinity of the Centenary Pond + Spoonbill over this morning.

Minsmere - 2 SAVI'S WARBLER still Island Mere.

Hollesley - 4 Spoonbill on the scrape at the RSPB reserve.

Tuesday 11th.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and show by the centenary pond.

Minsmere - 2 SAVI'S WARBLER still rom Island Mere.

Alde Estuary - Quail still present on Hazelwood Common commuting between the meadow and pea field just beyond the last cottage.

Boyton - Single Spoonbill Boyton Marshes.

Hollesley - 4 Spoonbill Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Newmarket - Spoonbill East over Denston Park at 08:45hrs.

Monday 10th.

Lowestoft Area - The 1st summer female WOODCHAT SHRIKE continued to show well South of Heathlands caravan park, Kessingland at TM.535.872 until mid afternoon then no further sign by dusk.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF remains in the vicinity of the centenary pond South of the coastguard cottages.

Minsmere - Spoonbill on West scrape + Caspian Gull.

Alde Estuary - The Quail was again seen and heard at Hazelwood Common in fallow field by path to Hazelwood Marshes SWT.

Hollesley - 2 Great Egrets briefly Hollesley Marsh RSPB + 7 Spoonbill still & drake Garganey.

Sunday 9th.

Lowestoft Area - A 1st summer female WOODCHAT SHRIKE was found mid morning in bushes 200 yards South of Heathlands caravan park, Kessingland. The bird remained throughout the afternoon but became mobile as the day passed. (photo Andrew Moon)

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and be seen by the Centenary Pond on Dunwich Heath. A possible PURPLE HERON was seen from coastguard cottages before landing in the marsh late afternoon. A Great Egret was seen early morning at Dingle Marshes viewed from the footpath between the old mill and sea wall + Short-eared Owl.

Minsmere - 2 SAVI'S WARBLER still Is.mere.

Aldringham - A Quail was flushed along Aldringham Walks.

Alde Estuary - The Quail was again seen and heard in the meadow just beyond the last cottage at Hazelwood Marshes + Spoonbill. (photo Chris Courtney).

Havergate Island - A ring-tail MONTAGU'S HARRIER flew South over the island at 14:48hrs (previously seen over Orfordness NT) and thought to be the recent bird present at Kingsfleet.

Hollesley - 5 Spoonbill on the scrape at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Shingle Street - A probable MONTAGU'S HARRIER (ring-tail) was seen at 11:20hrs.


Saturday 8th.

Southwold - A Cattle Egret was seen to fly West along the harbour at 21:00hrs.

Dunwich - The singing male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF remains faithful to the birch trees adjacent to the Centenary Pond.

Minsmere - SAVI'S WARBLER from Island Mere still + Curlew Sand on the scrape.

Friday 7th.

Lowestoft Area - A singing male GREENISH WARBLER was found mid morning at Normanston at Bond's Meadow in SE corner + singing Wood Warbler reported.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and show by the Centenary Pond.

Minsmere - 3 Spoonbill on the scrape + Curlew Sand this evening from South hide.

Alde Estuary - A Quail was heard singing in meadow from footpath to Hazelwood Marsh.

Thursday 6th.

Lowestoft Area - A MARSH WARBLER was heard singing South of the railway line at Fishers Row Oulton.

Dunwich - The singing male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and show well in birches by the Centenary Pond.

Deben Estuary - The MONTAGU'S HARRIER was again present between Kingsfleet and Falkenham Marshes. (photo Will Brame)


Wednesday 5th.

Lowestoft Area - A singing MARSH WARBLER was noted at Oulton Marsh SWT in an area of no general access.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF was once again present and singing by the Centenary Pond.

Minsmere - 2 SAVI'S WARBLERS still from Island Mere + 2 Spoonbill still.

Hollesley - Up to 9 Spoonbill on the scrape at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Deben Estuary - A ringtail MONTAGU'S HARRIER (prob 2cy female) was present for it's 2nd day at Falkenham Marshes/Kingsfleet.

Felixstowe - Black Redstart at Languard.

Tuesday 4th.

Dunwich - The singing male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF now sporting a ring, remains by the Centenary Pond South of coastguard cottages. 2 Great Egret on the shorepools.

Minsmere - 2 Spoonbill on West from 10:15hrs.

Alde Estuary - No sign today of the adult BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER on the stretch of river North of Orford quay.

Boyton - 3 Spoonbill on the flash.

Hollesley - Up to 8 Spoonbill on the scrape at Hollesley Marsh RSPB.

Monday 3rd.

Dunwich - IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF still present and singing South of coastguard cottages.

Alde Estuary - The adult BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER continued to show North of Orford quay, the bird frequented the airfield on Orfordness NT reserve. (photo Andrew Moon).

Sunday 2nd.

Dunwich - The male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF continues to sing and show well South of the coastguard cottages by the Centenary Pond.

Alde Estuary - The adult BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER was present on the river 3/4 mile at North of Orford quay AT 10:25hrs on the Orfordness side of the river then on then airfield on Orfordness NT reserve at 12:10hrs and then back on the river during the early evening.

Saturday 1st.

Dunwich - The singing male IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF remains by the Centenary Pond South of the coastguard cottages.

Minsmere - No sign of the female CRETZSCHMAR'S BUNTING in the dunes by early afternoon. A BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER was seen to fly in off at 06:07hrs and land briefly on Lucky Pool before moving to the the near-by chapel pool at 06:40hrs where it remained until 08:39hrs then flew high South. 2 SAVI'S WARBLER remain on Island Mere.

Aldringham - No sign of the Hoopoe on Aldringham Walks by the church or surrounding area.

Orfordness - Adult BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER seen on the NT reserve on the airfield at 11:45hrs.

Hollesley - An adult BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER was seen on the river from the seawall with Ringed Plovers and Dunlin at 09:49hrs where it remained until 10:44hrs then flew NE.
