Tuesday 12th.

Minsmere - Whinchat still in the dunes just South of the sluice.

North Warren/Thorpeness - No sign of the PALLID SWIFT today.

Sunday 11th.

Lowestoft Area - Lapland Bunting flew over the old sewage works + Velvet Scoter offshore. Cattle Egret still Carlton Marsh SWT. Ring-necked Parakeet again in Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad.

Minsmere - A Swift sp was seen over the main reedbed late morning. An interesting report of a Whinchat was forth-coming in the dunes South of the sluice.

North Warren - 2 PALLID SWIFTS (6th & 7th record for Suffolk) were seen over the marsh at 11:05hrs and remained throughout the afternoon favouring the area by the 30mph Thorpeness sign. Sadly one of the birds was taken by a Sparrowhawk at around 16:00hrs. Black Redstart seen on rooftops near-by and a late Northern Wheatear seen on the beach.

Felixstowe - Great Northern Diver briefly on the sea seen from LBO before flying + distant Puffin North.

Kesgrave - Juvenile Rose-coloured Starling again on the Grange Farm estate in Bugsby Way this morning. (photo Lee Woods).

Knettishall - Snow Bunting still on permissive path across airfield early morning.

Saturday 10th.

Lowestoft Area - Ring-necked Parakeet at Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad in trees by the tennis courts.

Covehithe - Shorelark by the broad.

Southwold - Pom Skua & Velvet Scoter offshore + Firecrest in the churchyard.

Thorpeness - 11 Common Crossbill South over the old caravan park.

Aldeburgh - Ring-tail Hen Harrier seen over Town Marshes then flew across river towards Orfordness.

Havergate - Ring-tail Hen Harrier on the RSPB reserve seen distantly from Gedgrave + 24 Pink-footed Geese on Gedgrave Marsh,

Boyton - Short-eared Owl Boyton Marshes + 7 EWFG.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl seen at 15:00hrs

Kesgrave - The juvenile Rose-coloured Starling was again seen on the Grange Farm estate in gardens & rooftops along Bugsby Way.

Levington - Short-eared Owl & Water Pipit seen at the creek.

Friday 9th.

Lowestoft Area - Cattle Egret still Carlton Marsh SWT.

Minsmere - Black-throated Diver noted South off North wall.

North Warren - 2 ad Caspian Gull seen on South Marsh + YLG. (photo Mark Cornish).

Gedgrave - No sign of the Rough-legged Buzzard but 24 Pink-footed Geese, 7 EWFG & ring-tail Hen Harrier noted. (photo Mark Cornish).

Felixstowe - A Richards Pipit was briefly seen at the ferry in field past the stile then flew East at 11:37 + Rough-legged Buzzard over the ruined house at 13:00hrs. A male Black Redstart was trapped at LBO. (photo Will Brame).

Stour Estuary - Black-necked Grebe on the river viewed from Wrabness (Essex).

Kesgrave - A juvenile Rose-coloured Starling was seen in gardens along Bugsby Way this afternoon (present 6 days)

Thursday 8th.

Minsmere - Mealy Redpoll trapped & ringed.

Orfordness/Sudbourne - Rough-legged Buzzard & 2 ring-tail Hen Harriers seen.

Gedgrave - Rough-legged Buzzard viewed distantly from Boyton Marshes.

Shingle Street - Ring-tail Hen Harrier and Short-eared Owl noted.

Lackford SWT - Rough-legged Buzzard seen over at 09:40hrs.

Great Livermere - Persumed escaped Lesser-White Fronted Goose seen amongst the Greylag Geese on Broadwater Lake.

Wednesday 7th.

Lowestoft Area - Adult Cattle Egret still Carlton Marsh SWT.

Southwold - Leaches Petrel offshore 08:20-08:30hrs.

Tuesday 6th.

Lowestoft Area - Cattle Egret still on Carlton Marshes.

Southwold - Purple Sand still on sea defences North of the pier + Firecrest in Waters Copse.

Havergate - A Rough-legged Buzzard was seen hunting over the island between 11:00 - 13:15hrs, the bird was also seen from Boyton Marshes at 13:52hrs & presumably the same bird seen over Orfordness from Gedgrave at 14:33hrs. Short-eared Owl, 5 Caspian & 7 Y L Gull also seen on the RSPB reserve,

Boyton - 18 Pink-footed Geese & 6 Eurasian White-fronted Geese on boyton Marshes.

Shingle Street - 2 Short-eared Owl & Firecrest seen today.

Felixstowe - The Pallas's Warbler remained on site at LBO showing in white poplars behind the observatory + Firecrest & male Black Redstart noted. (photo Will Brame).

Lackford - Great Egret present on the SWT reserve.

Monday 5th.

Lowestoft Area - Cattle Egret still on Carlton Marshes at TM501.919. Lapland Bunting seen in stubble field by Corton radar lodge.

Covehithe - Great Egret on the broad.

Shingle Street - Short-eared Owl seen quartering fields South of the martello tower.

Bawdsey - Firecrest along the concrete track at East Lane.

Felixstowe - A Pallas's Warbler was present at LBO through-out the day (photo Will Brame) + Firecrest & Short-eared Owl noted.

Sunday 4th.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Black Redstart by the wind turbine at Ness Point. 

Southwold - Purple Sand on sea defences North of the pier.

Sizewell - A Great Northern Diver was noted South offshore at 11:30hrs.

Aldeburgh - A probable Richard's Pipit was seen on Town Marshes though mobile.

Boyton - Ringtail Hen Harrier seen over Boyton Marshes + 20 Pink-footed Geese & 7 Eurasian White-fronted Geese.

Felixstowe - Firecrest trapped at LBO. (photo will Brame).

Knettishall - A Snow Bunting was present on Knettishall airfield.

Saturday 3rd.

Frostenden - Great Egret North over the A12 toilet block.

Minsmere - Great Egret on North Marsh + Ringtail Hen Harrier North over the scrape.

Newbourne - Ringtail Hen Harrier.

Trimley SWT - Great Egret still on the reserve + Mealy Redpoll trapped & ringed.

Friday 2nd.

Southwold - A PENDULINE TIT was briefly seen and heard from the reedbed by the boating lake at 12:57hrs. Despite extensive searching there was no further sign of the bird up until dusk.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egret & 2 Water Pipit seen on the shore pools + Firecrest seen within the tit flock at Great Dingle. Whooper Swan on Westwood Marshes.

Minsmere - Caspian Gull on East scrape + Great Egret & Short-eared Owl on North Marsh.

Boyton - Ringtail Hen Harrier seen at Boyton Marshes.

Felixstowe - Purple Sand at LBO.

Trimley SWT - Great Egret in flight and on the reservoir.

Needham Market - 8 Whooper Swan over Pipps Ford at 16:10hrs.

Brecklands - Great Grey Shrike seen at Mayday Farm near Brandon at TL795.825 from the viewing platform at 13:15hrs.

Thursday 1st.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Black Redstarts at Ness Point.

Southwold - No sign of the 1st winter Red-breasted Flycatcher at the campsite today.

Boyton - 24 Pink-footed Geese on Boyton Marsh + Short-eared Owl seen over near-by Gedgrave Marsh.

Felixstowe - 2 Little Gull offshore at LBO.
