Waveney Area - 3 Great Egret SE over Bev Close heading towards Pakefield / Kessingland at 07:35hrs.

Dunwich - A large flock of Common Crossbills were seen on the west side of the heath of which some of the birds appeared to be thick-billed and bull-necked in appearance suggestive of PARROT CROSSBILL?

Aldringham - A Great Grey Shrike was seen south of Leiston in hedge line on north side field with pylons between B1122 and B1069 though mobile.

Boyton - Black Redstart still at Banters Barn.

Felixstowe - Fem Ring Ouzel still on the common at LBO (photo Peter Lakey).

Sunday 18th.

Waveney Area - 2 Great Egret Carlton Marshes SWT + 4 Short-eared Owl. Female Ring Ouzel in hedge along western path at Corton NSW. Ring Ouzel in SE corner of large field by the southern set of steps that lead to the beach at Kessingland. 3 Black Redstart in the SLP yard at Ness Point.

Southwold - 3 Purple Sands just north of the pier.

Walberswick - Juvenile Spoonbill flew from Westwood Marsh to Dingle Marshes at 17:41hrs + Great Egret.

Thorpeness - Firecrest at the old caravan park

Aldeburgh - 15 EWFG on Town Marshes + 6 Pink-footed Geese

Sudbourne - Great Grey Shrike still in the vicinity of Sudbourne church though mobile and elusive at times + male Black Redstart on tower of church at 16:00hrs.

Boyton - 2 Black Redstart (1 male) at Banters Barn (photo David Carter)

Deben Estuary - 6 EWFG on Ramsholt Lodge Marsh

Felixstowe - Female Ring Ouzel on the common at LBO + 3 Purple Sands on the point.

Ipswich - 2 Ring-necked Parakeets in Holywells Park.

Saturday 17th.

Waveney Area - PALLAS'S WARBLER still at Corton new sewage works though mobile + Lapland Bunting in stubble field south of the old sewage works. Ring Ouzel seen in Corton churchyard + 2 Water Pipit north of there. PALLAS'S WARBLER seen within the Goldcrests in trees opposite Wilko's in Gordon Street. PALLAS'S WARBLER Warren Lane Hopton this evening.3 Black Redstart at Ness Point. 5 Great Egret Petos Marsh Carlton Marsh SWT.

Dunwich - BARRED WARBLER Dingle Marshes just east of Dingle Great Hill at 10:00hrs 

Minsmere - DUSKY WARBLER again in the sluice bushes and showing well on occasions though mobile + Shirt-eared Owl over the deer rut area.

Alde Estuary - Yellow-browed Warbler noted (photo Mark Cornish).

Sudbourne - Great Grey Shrike just east of Sudbourne church this afternoon though mobile.

Shingle Street - 3 Great Egret viewable from the approach road.

Felixstowe - 2 Ring Ouzel on the common at LBO + 3 Purple Sands at the point.

Friday 16th.

Waveney Area - PALLAS'S WARBLER seen along Gunton old railway track + possible DUSKY WARBLER heard calling. A 2nd PALLAS'S WARBLER was discovered at Corton in sycamores along the outer edge of the disused rail-track opposite the caravan park and presumably the same bird seen late afternoon from the boardwalk at new sewage works. A SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF was noted along Lowestoft North Denes. 2 Yellow-browed Warbler is sea buckthorn on Kessingland Beach. Ring Ouzel Corton churchyard

Benacre - The Great Grey Shrike was again seen early morning just west of Beach Farm at 07:45hrs + 2 Common Redstart in the area. The Purple Sand was still present at the north end of the pits.

Southwold - 3 Purple Sands just north of the pier on sea defences. 1w Caspian Gull at the harbour mouth + Spot Fly still in the campsite.

Minsmere - A DUSKY WARBLER was discovered in the sluice bushes early afternoon and remained throughout the afternoon although elusive at times. Little Auk seen on the sea before flying south at 12:50hrs.

Thorpeness - Ring Ouzel and Firecrest noted.

Boyton - Male Black Redstart seen on the barn by the RSPB car park.

Hollesley Marshes - Probable DUSKY WARBLER seen along the approach track to the reserve + 4 EWFG.

Bawdsey - Male Ring Ouzel seen in horse paddocks as along the approach road to East Lane + Ring Ouzel seen along the cliffs. A Raven was seen near the mast at 1545hrs

Woodbridge - 2 Raven over Den Meadow.

Felixstowe - A Lapland Bunting was seen within the fenced off area on the point at LBO +  2 Ring Ouzel, Common Redstart & Firecrest noted around the common/compound & 3 Purple Sands on the jetty.

Thursday 15th.

Benacre - Great Grey Shrike on wires and in hedge viewed north along concrete track approx 1/2ml east of entrance gates to Beach Farm + male Black Redstart. Purple Sand on the pits.

Southwold - Highlights from around the town included; 2 Little Auk north offshore (07:30 & 11:55hrs), 1w Caspian Gull at the harbour mouth + Snow Bunting (photo Andrew Moon), 2 Purple Sands north of the pier, 15 Common Crossbill north over the Denes, Spotted Flycatcher & Firecrest still in the campsite & fem/1w male Black Redstart along the sea-front in the garden of Dolphin House.

Walberswick - Ring Ouzel on the western edge of paddocks along road to Westwood Lodge.

Aldeburgh - 6 Common Crossbill north over the churchyard.

Orford - Yellow-browed Warbler + Ring Ouzel along track to the filter bed.

Blaxhall - 23 Common Crossbill over Blaxhall Common.

Bawdsey - A PALLAS'S WARBLER was present at East Lane in sea buckthorn by the car park though generally elusive. Both Yellow-browed Warbler and Ring Ouzel were seen at the end of the concrete track mid afternoon. Yellow-browed Warbler + 2 Firecrest at the quay picnic site. 12 White-fronted Geese north over the Manor at 17:00hrs.

Felixstowe - Yellow-browed Warbler seen at the start of the tomline wall opposite the ferry golf clubhouse. Ring Ouzel on the common at LBO + 2 Purple Sands on the point.

Mildenhall - 2 Hawfinch NW over the town this morning

Wednesday 14th.

Waveney Area - A PALLAS'S WARBLER was discovered in the S corner of Corton New Sewage Works late afternoon. Yellow-browed Warbler seen in the grounds of Gorleston Old Cemetery + Common Redstart. 3 Black Redstart seen at Ness Point. Firecrest Arnold's Walk, Great Egret & Short-eared Owl Carlton Marshes. Firecrest seen at Links Road.

Benacre - Short-eared Owl seen in off at the sluice.

Southwold - Highlights from around the town included; Sooty Shearwater seen north offshore at 07:20hrs, Short-eared Owl flushed from Gun Hill, Ring Ouzel & Firecrest seen in the churchyard, Firecrest, Ring Ouzel & Spotted Fly in the campsite + Purple Sand just north of the pier

Walberswick - Snow Bunting seen on the beach 200 yards south of the beach huts.

Minsmere - Offshore, singles of Pom, Arctic & Long-tailed Skua noted + 4 Short-eared Owl & Sooty Shearwater. Yellow-browed Warbler seen in north bushes + Firecrest was noted in the sluice bushes.

Thorpeness - 5 Ring Ouzel seen at the OCP.

Butley - 2 Ring Ouzel seen at Ferry Farm.

Hollesley - Great Grey Shrike seen at the RSPB reserve + Short-eared Owl & Ring Ouzel noted.

Felixstowe - 2 Ring Ouzel at LBO + Firecrest.

Trimley Marshes - Ring Ouzel in hedge by the viewing platform.

Tuesday 13th.

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler still along the top path at Sparrows Nest Park.

Southwold - 2 Purple Sand seen on sea defences north of the pier. Black Tern north offshore at 17:05hrs.

Blyth Estuary - A Hen Harrier was seen to fly upriver at 16:15hrs + Short-eared Owl over marshes & 2 Spotted Redshank.

Minsmere - 3 Ring Ouzel in north bushes this afternoon.

Sutton - 35+ Common Crossbill seen at the SE of Sutton Common.

Felixstowe - A RADDE'S WARBLER was trapped at LBO at 07:30hrs + 2 Lapland Bunting over. Yellow-browed Warbler seen at the top of Peewit Hill in front of The Firs (photo Will Brame).

Great Livermere - The juvenile Black Tern continues to show at Livermere Lake.

Monday 12th.

Waveney Area - Lapland Bunting again on the beach just north of the shore pools. 2 Great Egret flew over Haddiscoe bridge heading towards Somerleyton at 08:15hrs. 54 Pink-footed Geese WNW over James Paget hospital at 12:40hrs. Osprey Burgh Castle at 14:50hrs. 2 Black Redstart at Ness Point. Yellow-browed Warbler seen by the lighthouse at Sparrows Nest Park.

Southwold - No sign today of the RADDE'S WARBLER at the camp site. 2 Purple Sands at the harbour mouth.

Dunwich - A Sooty Shearwater  was seen north offshore between 15:51 - 15:54hrs.

Deben Estuary - Ring Ouzel seen at Kirton Creek + c4400 Redwing & c350 Fieldfare noted along with 2 Pink-footed Geese in the area

Great Livermere - Juvenile Black Tern still Livermere Lake late morning at least.

Common Crossbill - several flocks were observed today with the following counts as follows; (90) north over Woodbridge airbase, (45) over Upper Hollesley Common and (5) south over Southwold campsite.

Sunday 11th.

Waveney Area - YBW's were seen along Lowestoft North Denes and Gunton Cliffs. Lapland Bunting seen by the shore pool opposite the steps to the caravan park at Kessingland at 09:45hrs. Jack Snipe seen on Gunton Warren this morning. SEO seen at North Denes + Hamilton Road. Purple Sand at Ness Point + Black Redstart in front of the SLP hanger. 3 Short-eared Owl seen again from the central path at Carlton Marsh SWT.

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER continues to show on & off in the SE corner of the campsite. (Birders are requested to enter the campsite via the northern entrance to the site via Ferry Road and not to enter the bushes where the bird is favouring, please also respect the privacy of those residing in the static homes located in the adjacent caravan park). North Warren - Great Egret on South Marsh.

Aldeburgh - Yellow-browed Warbler in gardens along Crescent Road.

Slaughden - 2 Purple Sands on sea defences south of the Martello tower.

Shingle Street - Ring Ouzel over Battery Cottage this afternoon + Snow Bunting. No sign of the Wood Warbler.

Bawdsey - Short-eared Owl seen to come in off at 10:24hrs.

Woodbridge - A Great Grey Shrike was seen on the disused airfield in an area of no general access.

Felixstowe - YBW seen at LBO in the SW corner of the Obs compound + Ring Ouzel. Male Black Redstart seen at the ferry by The Victoria PH.

Trimley Marshes - An incredible count of c12,000 Redwing were noted between 06:30 - 07:30hrs.

Great Livermere - Juvenile Black Tern seen on Livermere this afternoon and remained until early evening at least.

Lackford - Garganey on the SWT reserve.

Saturday 10th.

Waveney Area - 2 Lapland Bunting seen at the north end of Kessingland beach + single Lapland Bunting seen by the sluice & Common Redstart along cliff-top edge. 3 Short-eared Owls were seen at dusk viewable from the central path at Carlton Marshes SWT.

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER was again present and showing well early morning in the SE corner of the camp site, but became more elusive as the day progressed. A ring-tail Hen Harrier was seen to come in off + 1st winter Caspian Gull along the harbour mouth & Purple Sand.

Minsmere - 3 Great Egret on Island Mere + 22 (twenty-two) Hobbies seen hawking together along south belt this afternoon.

North Warren - A Yellow-browed Warbler was seen near Sheep wash crossing at 11:10hrs + Great Egret on south marsh this morning.

Alde Estuary - 1+ Firecrest noted this morning.

Shingle Street - Wood Warbler still present seen amongst the tit flock + Firecrest. 2 Whinchat seen along twin banks & 2 Short-eared Owls were noted late afternoon,

Bawdsey - Yellow-browed Warbler trapped at Bawdsey Hall.

Felixstowe - Hawfinch south over LBO + Tree Pipit. Purple Sand on the jetty.

Friday 9th.

Waveney Area - 5 Crossbill sp (possibly PARROT) were seen to come in off at Park dean car park, Kessingland and flew south. Short-eared Owl seen just prior to dusk at Carlton Marshes SWT.

Benacre - No sign of the Great Grey Shrike by the sluice and adjacent levels, ring-tail Hen Harrier south by the broad + 13 Common Crossbill south.

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER continues to show in the SE corner of the campsite + Spotted Flycatcher. A 1st winter Caspian Gull seen at the harbour mouth at 15:05hrs.

Aldringham Walks - Lapland Bunting south early afternoon.

Alde Estuary - A LITTLE BUNTING was seen this morning in an area of no general access and unfortunately not viewable from a public right of way.

Shingle Street - The Wood Warbler as again seen along the footpath south of the allotments this afternoon, though generally elusive + a late Whinchat & Short-eared Owl noted.

Bawdsey - 2 Great Egret on the lagoons + Female Common Redstart in Sea Buckthorn at East Lane.

Thursday 8th.

Waveney Area - Great Grey Shrike seen at Kessingland levels, near-by no sign of the 1w STEPPE GREY SHRIKE at Beach Farm Benacre

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER remain in the SE corner of the camp site though generally elusive.

Walberswick - A PALLID SWIFT was seen over the village at 16:30hrs before heading north towards Southwold.

Blythburgh - Spoonbill still on the estuary viewable from A12.

Bawdsey - Short-eared Owl was flushed off the beach north of East Lane and flew towards Shingle Street.

Felixstowe - A late Common Cuckoo was seen near Recreation Ground, Walton.

Alton Water - Osprey seen again over Larchwood hides at 12:30hrs + Great Egret noted.

Wednesday 7th.

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler heard calling from within a private garden within Kessingland.

Benacre - The 1st winter STEPPE GREY SHRIKE was again in the hedgerow south of Beach Farm for much of the day and then was re-located early evening just north of Beach Farm by the first pillbox at 17:28hrs + Great Grey Shrike still present, Short-eared Owl noted & Lapland Bunting over NW. 

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER was again seen in the SE corner of the campsite though remained typically elusive.

Blyth Estuary - Both the Spoonbill & Osprey were viewable from the A12 road-bridge.

Walberswick - Highlights today included Lapland Bunting south, male Common Redstart & 2 Tree Pipits.

Minsmere - Immature male Common Redstart just north of the sluice.

Hollesley - Yellow-browed Warbler heard calling from gardens at Oak Hill. Great Egret over the RSPB reserve + Pied Fly briefly.

Shingle Street - The Wood Warbler was again seen along the footpath just south of the allotments late afternoon.

Bawdsey - Short-eared Owl in off at 14:17hrs by the refurbished Martello tower at East Lane + Hobby north,

Felixstowe - Yellow-browed Warbler at LBO + Mealy Redpoll trapped.

Alton Water - Osprey seen over the reservoir viewed from Tattingstone Place.

Glemsford - Merlin NE over the village at 07:18hrs.

Tuesday 6th.

Waveney Area - A ringtail Harrier sp (MONTAGU'S or PALLID) was seen over Burgh Castle late afternoon. Yellow-browed Warblers were today noted at Sparrows Nest Park, Malsters Score and by the Crop Shop gardens nr Battery Green. Ring Ouzel seen along the slope at North Denes.

Benacre - The 1st winter STEPPE GREY SHRIKE continues to show in the hedgerow by Beach Farm + Great Grey Shrike. Please view only from the coastal footpath and do not enter the fields (photo Andrew Moon).

Covehithe - A BALTIC GULL was seen and photographed in fields just north of the broad during the afternoon.

Southwold - The RADDE'S WARBLER was again heard calling mid morning from scrub in the denes opposite the camp site mid morning and then showing again in the camp site late afternoon + Firecrest (photo Andrew Moon).

Blyth Estuary - Spoonbill + Osprey seen on the estuary viewed from the A12 road bridge.

Dunwich - Short-eared Owl seen over the heath + Common Swift south.

Minsmere - RADDES'S WARBLER again in North bushes though generally elusive + Yellow-browed Warbler seen by the toilet block & a late juvenile Cuckoo.

Thorpeness - Yellow-browed Warbler briefly seen at the old caravan park though mobile + Pom Skua offshore. Short-eared Owl in off at Haven House.

Havergate - A RED-THROATED PIPIT was seen on the RSPB reserve on Belpers lagoon at 09:00hrs.

Deben Estuary - Osprey still present and fishing off Kyson Point.

Felixstowe - A Yellow-browed Warbler was seen in Elders opposite the Customs House along Viewpoint Road + Short-eared Owl seen at LBO just prior to 07:00hrs.

Monday 5th.

Waveney Area - RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER seen along Lowestoft North Denes by second shelter belt south of Links Road early afternoon only. 2 Ring Ouzel (1 male) Kessingland sluice + Redstart. Female type Black Redstart seen at Heritage Green though mobile.

Benacre - The 1st winter STEPPE GREY SHRIKE (form pallidirostris) was again present and showing well in hedgerow just south of Beach Farm. Please note that the footpath adjacent to the hedgerow is on private land and birders are requested to view from coastal footpath but be careful of corrosion along cliff top path + Great Grey Shrike south of the sluice. A RED-THROATED PIPIT flew over the field along the approach road to Beach Farm and lost to view. GREY PHALAROPE seen offshore and south + 2 Great Egrets south. (shrike collage Chris Darby)

Minsmere - RADDE'S WARBLER seen in North bushes early morning + Osprey south

Thorpeness - Osprey  south just in of the old caravan park.

North Warren - Short-eared Owl in off and over north marsh at 08:40hrs.

Hollesley - A PALLID HARRIER was seen over the RSPB reserve and headed south towards Shingle Street at 13:55hrs, also noted a Red-breasted Flycatcher in sycamores by the entrance to Warren prison car park + Yellow-browed Warbler & Ring Ouzel by footpath north of Boyton Hall Farm at TM.383.457

Shingle Street - The Wood Warbler was again seen along the footpath just south of the allotments + Yellow-browed Warbler seen briefly in gardens south of the Martello tower.

Felixstowe - 2 RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER'S at LBO today + Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Firecrest, Ring Ouzel, Osprey, 2+ Short-eared Owl & 42 Crossbill noted.

Sunday 4th.

Waveney Area - The obliging RUSTIC BUNTING was again present in Links Road car park until 08:30hrs when flew south (photo Brian Small). 2 Hawfinch south over Sparrow's Nest Park at 08:18hrs + Yellow-browed Warbler. Lesser Whitethroat (of possible eastern origin) seen 1/2 mile north of Links Road car park. Great Grey Shrike still by Kessingland sluice though mobile and then presumably the same bird was then seen by Beach Farm, Benacre (This was then later confirmed from photos as a STEPPE GREY SHRIKE). Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Ness Point at the south end of the car park+ 3 Black Redstart in turbine yard. Wryneck still Lowestoft North Denes at 15:50hrs.

Southwold - A RADDE'S WARBLER was found in the SE corner of the campsite at 08:50hrs and remained late afternoon at least + 2 Firecrest. 4 Yellow-browed Warblers noted around the town, 2 by the 7th green on the golf course and a single birds at Waters Copse & Gun Hill (photo Brian Small).

Sizewell - The BOOTED WARBLER was again present in sycamores in front of Sizewell A until c08:00hrs then no further confirmed sighting's + Garden Warbler.

Thorpeness - Hawfinch south over the old caravan park at 10:08hrs + Common Redstart, Lesser Whitethroat (of possible eastern origin) & 2 Tree Pipit over. Black Redstart on the roof of the country club

North Warren - Adult winter WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN on south marsh briefly then flew south shortly after 11:00hrs.

Aldeburgh - Hawfinch south over the churchyard at 07:50 + Common Redstart seen in the town.

Alde Estuary - Yellow-browed Warbler, Common Redstart + 4 Tree Pipit noted around the estuary.

Bawdsey - 2 Firecrest at the picnic site.

Felixstowe - RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER still present at LBO + Yellow-browed Warbler, FirecrestGrasshopper Warbler trapped and Common Redstart noted.

Saturday 3rd.

Waveney Area - A RUSTIC BUNTING was found at 07:45hrs at by Warrenhouse Wood then moved to the NE corner of Links Road car park where it remained it showed well until dusk (photo Gi Grieco & Andrew Moon below)) + Great Egret north at midday. RADDES WARBLER found along the north end Gunton rail track at 15:05hrs. HONEY BUZZARD reported south over Lowestoft beach at 09:30hrs. Wryneck seen on North Denes. Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Fallowfields. Great Grey Shrike seen by the sluice + Short-eared Owl in off & Redstart noted. Yellow-browed Warbler just north of Denes Oval at 16:00hrs.

Southwold - 3 Yellow-browed Warbler's seen around the town today. Great Grey Shrike noted by the southern end of scrub on the west side of the campsite then flew west and lost to view + Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat. Jack Snipe, Ring Ouzel & Spot Fly seen around the town.

Minsmere - Short-eared Owl, Jack Snipe in off off + Common Redstart by the sluice bushes.

Sizewell - A BOOTED WARBLER was found at 17:10hrs in sycamores in front of Sizewell A.

Thorpeness - Short-eared Owl in off then north + Great Egret north early morning & Ring Ouzel. A 3w Caspian Gull was present in fields north of the old caravan park.

North Warren - 2 Great Egret on south marsh + 1 Caspian Gull south along the beach.

Aldeburgh - Highlights today included; Hawfinch, 3 Firecrest, Common Redstart, 2 Short-eared Owl (1 in off) and good numbers of Song Thrushes.

Hollesley - Ring Ouzel seen by Warren Hill prison

Shingle Street - Wood Warbler seen along the path by the allotment late morning though generally elusive.

Felixstowe - A GREAT SNIPE was seen to come in off at LBO shortly after 08:30hrs and continued over the dock complex, also RICHARDS PIPIT, RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER, 3 Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Jack Snipe noted (photos Will Brame).

Friday 2nd.

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler seen along the approach track to the sewage works at Kessingland, near-by 2 Jack Snipe on north beach by reed-bed pools.

Southwold - A SABINE'S GULL was seen north offshore at 08:50hrs, also Leach's Petrel & Short-eared Owl noted between 07:30 - 14:00hrs.

Minsmere - A SABINE'S GULL was present briefly on East scrape just prior to 10:00hrs then flew out to sea.

Sizewell - An adult Pomarine Skua (pale phase) was seen loitering offshore late morning/early afternoon.

Slaughden - A SABINE'S GULL seen north offshore at 08:30hrs, also 2 Great Northern Diver S (07:40 & 08:22hrs).

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Little Stint at Hazelwood Marshes + Spotted Redshank.

Bawdsey - Sooty Shearwater S at 09:20hrs.

Deben Estuary - Osprey again seen along the river viewable from Kyson Point.

Thursday 1st.

Waveney Area - 2 Yellow-browed Warblers at Kessingland sewage works. Yellow-browed Warbler Sparrows Nest Park top loop. 2 Black Redstart at Ness Point

Covehithe - Yellow-browed Warbler seen at the south end of wood south of the broad.

Southwold - Yellow-browed Warbler present in the SE corner of the campsite along Ferry Road.

Walberswick - No sign of the possible Eastern Yellow Wagtail on Corporation Marshes but Lapland Bunting showing well (photo Brian Small).

Minsmere - 3 Great Egrets on the reserve, nearby 30 Common Crossbill seen along Westleton Walks.

Thorpeness - Yellow-browed Warbler at the Old Caravan Park.
