Thursday 30th.

Benacre - Red-breasted Merganser still on the broad.

Minsmere - 4 Sooty Shearwater south offshore between 15:30 - 15:50hrs.

Alde Estuary - Grey Phalarope seen from the hide this afternoon at Hazelwood Marshes + 12 Spoonbill + 2 Osprey remain.

Wednesday 29th.

Minsmere - Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper still on West Scrape.

Alde Estuary - 34 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + Osprey & Whinchat.

Bawdsey - Osprey over the lagoons at East Lane at 09:35hrs then headed north.

Lakenheath - Cattle Egret Lakenheath Fen 

Tuesday 28th.

Benacre - Red-breasted Merg still on the broad.

Southwold - Purple Sand on sea defences north of the pier.

North Warren - HONEY BUZZARD south over South Marsh at 08:40hrs.

Slaughden - Large Shearwater sp north at 15:45-15:50hrs.

Stour Estuary - 2 Cattle Egret present at Cattawade this evening.

Needham Market - 4 Raven over Pipps Ford at 10:30hrs

Monday 27th.

Southwold - Long-tailed Skua north offshore at 0730hrs.

Minsmere - Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper still on West Scrape, offshore a Long-tailed Skua was seen north just after 0700hrs + a large Shearwater sp was noted south.

Bawdsey - Sea-watching from East Lane included Sooty Shearwater N 0915, 2 Manx Shearwater N, 2 Long-tailed Skua S, Arctic Skua. Bonxie + possible Pom Skua between 1345 - 1545hrs.

Deben Estuary - Osprey again seen again off Kyson Point today.

Sunday 26th.

Southwold - Sooty Shearwater N 0956hrs + Manx Shearwater N 1027hrs.

Minsmere - Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper still on West scrape.

Alde Estuary - 32 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + juvenile Little Stint.

Bawdsey - Sooty Shearwater N 0917hrs + Manx Shearwater N 0925hrs off East Lane.

Alton Water - WHITE STORK seen in flight over the café end of the reservoir (dam end).

Saturday 25th.

Waveney Area - 1w Caspian Gull Lowestoft North Beach. 2 Spotted Redshank on Peto's Marsh Carlton Marshes.

Benacre - The Red-breasted Merganser continues to show on the broad.

Minsmere - The 1st winter Red-backed Shrike and juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper remain on the reserve.

Alde Estuary - 2+ Osprey still at Hazelwood Marshes + 33 Spoonbill.

Hollesley - A possible BOOTED EAGLE was seen high West over the village at 14:20hrs.

Friday 24th.

Benacre - The Red-breasted Merganser remains on the broad.

Southwold - Whinchat is sheep paddocks just north of the pier.

Minsmere - The 1st win Red-backed Shrike continues to show along fence line just north of East Hide (photo Andrew Moon). Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper still on West Scrape.

Sizewell - 6 Little Gull off the outfall.

Alde Estuary - 3 Osprey now present at Hazelwood Marshes + 34 Spoonbill.

Deben Estuary - Osprey seen at Kyson Point before flying down river towards Ramsholt.

Hadleigh - Juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS still present on Giffords Flash.

Thursday 23rd.

Benacre - The unseasonal Red-breasted Merganser was seen on the broad.

Minsmere - The 1st winter Red-backed Shrike continues to show along fence between East hide and North Wall + Pectoral Sandpiper remain on West Scrape.

Alde Estuary - 2 Osprey were again seen from Hazelwood Marshes + 36 Spoonbill.

Shingle Street - A ring-tail Harrier sp was seen to fly through south

Stour Estuary - An un-ringed WHITE STORK was seen over Brantham at 14:23hrs.

Wednesday 22nd.

Minsmere - A 1st winter Red-backed Shrike was discovered on the perimeter fence between East Hide and North wall mid morning (photo Roger Flory) + juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper still on West Scrape & Little Stint.

Alde Estuary - 38 Spoonbill at Hazelwood Marshes + 2 Osprey & Whinchat noted.

Snape - Osprey over Snape Warren at 15:37hrs.

Boyton - Juvenile Garganey still on the flash early afternoon then flew towards the river.

Felixstowe - Ring-necked Parakeet south over LBO

Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS is still present 3.5mls SSW of Hadleigh on Giffords Flash.

Huntingfield - An immature Gannet was seen inland over the village.

Tuesday 21st.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey still viewable from Hen Reedbeds though distant.

Minsmere - The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper continues to show on West Scrape + Little Stint, also a Shorelark was reported in the dunes before flying onto North Marsh.

Alde Estuary - 2 Osprey at Hazelwood Marshes + 36 Spoonbill.

Trimley Marshes - A juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was discovered on the winter flood at the SWT reserve.

Monday 20th.

Waveney Area - The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was again present on the old scrape at Carlton Marshes.

Minsmere - A Pectoral Sandpiper was found on West Scrape at 13:40hrs.

Boyton - Juvenile Garganey still on the flash at Boytpn Marshes.

Bawdsey - 4 juvenile Garganey were noted on the lagoons at East Lane + Wood Sand over.

Felixstowe - A Tree Pipit was noted at the north end of the Butts at LBO + Common Redstart trapped & ringed.

Hadleigh - Juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS continues distantly on Giffords Flash.

Lakenheath - WHITE STORK south over Lakenheath Fen RSPB at c14:00hrs.

Sunday 19th.

Waveney Area - A Pectoral Sandpiper was found on the old scrape at Carlton Marshes this morning and remained on site throughout the day + 4 Spotted Redshank.

Southwold - 1w Caspian Gull at the harbour mouth + Pied Fly in sallows by the 7th tee.

Blyth Estuary - The Osprey continues to show distantly viewable from Hen Reedbeds

Minsmere - 3 Little Stint on East Scrape.

Thorpeness - Sooty Shearwater north at 10:43hrs. Sea-watching between 1520 - 1725hrs provided Pom Skua south + 2 Red-necked Grebe, Pale-bellied Brent Goose and 12 Little Gull.

Alde Estuary - A full summer plumaged Red-throated Diver was seen on the river + 2 Whinchat on Town Marsh. 34 Spoonbill were noted at Hazelwood Marshes as were 2 Osprey.

Boyton - Garganey on the flash at Boyton Marshes.

Bawdsey - A dark phase juvenile Long-tailed Skua on the sea then flew south at 08:20hrs off East Lane + Sooty Shearwater north at 10:10hrs. A juvenile Little Stint was seen on the lagoons.

Stour Estuary - Osprey again over Seafeild Bay, Brantham.

Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS continues to show distantly on Giffords Flash viewable from Marsh Road through hedge opposite entrance gate to East Lodge. Please park sensibly by church.

Saturday 18th.

Blyth Estuary - The Osprey continues to show on the estuary viewable distantly from Hen Reedbeds.

Minsmere - Little Stint still on East Scrape + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Thorpeness - Common Redstart, Whinchat & Pied Flycatcher seen around the Old Caravan Park (OCP).

Boyton - Garganey again on the flash + 3 Spotted Redshank.

Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS remains on Giffords Flash though distant.

Friday 17th.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey still on the estuary viewed distantly from Hen Reedbeds.

Minsmere - Little Stint on East Scrape + 3 Caspian Gull.

Felixstowe - Single Black Redstart at LBO.

Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS remain at Giffords Flash though distant.

Thursday 16th.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey still on the estuary viewed from Hen Reedbeds + ad Caspian Gull this evening.

Minsmere - Little Stint on East Scrape + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Sizewell - 20+ Little Gull off the outfall this evening.

Alde Estuary - 34 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + LRP on Town Marshes.

Felixstowe - 3 Black Redstart at LBO.

Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS continues to show distantly on Giffords Flash.

Stowmarket - A pale morph HONEY BUZZARD was seen East over Redwing Drive at 11:10hrs.

Wednesday 15th.

Benacre - Tree Pipit seen along cliff top just north of the broad + Whinchat near the sluice.
Blythburgh - Osprey seen from Hen Reedbeds throughout the day.
Minsmere - Merlin seen along the approach road to the reserve early morning.
North Warren - A confiding DOTTEREL was reported on the beach just north of the sluice. Great Egret seen in flight heading north towards Thorpeness Meare.
Bawdsey - Great Egret south at East Lane at 10:10hrs.
Stour Estuary- Juvenile Shag seen by the car park entrance to Shotley Marina 
Helmingham - Raven over Helmingham Hall grounds this morning at 09:30hrs.
Hadleigh - The juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS continues to show on Giffords Flash though very distant.

Tuesday 14th.

Sea-watching dominated the news this morning with the following reports received;

Waveney Area - 2 Sooty Shearwater N off Ness Point.

Covehithe - Probable CORY'S SHEARWATER N at 0925 + 3 Sooty Shearwater N.

Southwold - CORY'S SHEARWATER S at 0738 + probable CORY'S SHEARWATER N at 0830, also Long-tailed Skua & 7 Sooty Shearwater.

Dunwich - Probable CORY'S SHEARWATER N at 0829 + 2 Long-tailed Skua N.

Minsmere - CORY'S SHEARWATER N at 0810 + Long-tailed Skua S & 2 Sooty Shearwater N

Thorpeness - CORY'S SHEARWATER N at 0803 + 2 Long-tailed Skua, 6 Sooty Shearwater, Bonxie & 6 Arctic Skua.

Bawdsey - 2 Sooty Shearwater N off East Lane.

Felixstowe - Sooty Shearwater N off LBO


Minsmere - 2 Little Stint on east scrape + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Thorpeness - 2 Pied Fly at the Old Caravan Park.

Hadleigh - Juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS still present on Giffords Flash though distant. Please park sensible by the church or at Marsh Road / Becketts Lane junction.

Monday 13th.

Minsmere - Long-tailed Skua south close offshore + 3 Arctic Skua prior to 09:00hrs. Pale-bellied Brent Goose on East scrape.

Hadleigh - A juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS was discovered 3mls south of Hadleigh this evening near Higham at Giffords Flash viewed from Marsh Road though distant. Please park by the church or at Marsh Lane / Becketts junction at TM.027.374 (photo Kit Day).

Sunday 12th.

Dunwich - Wood Warbler in birch clump by road 200yards SSW of Cliff House with tit flock.

Alde Estuary - 29 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + juvenile Little Stint.

Sutton - 2 Raven over Sutton Hoo late afternoon.

Long Melford - Osprey south over the sewage works T 10:06hrs

Saturday 11th.

Waveney Area - 2 juvenile Little Stint present and showing well from North Hide Carlton Marshes. Juvenile Little Stint on sea defences at Ness Point.

Minsmere - Osprey over the reserve + Little Stint on south scrape.

Boyton - Garganey still Boyton on the flash.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat south of Battery Cottage

Needham Market - Raven over Pipps Ford early evening.

Friday 10th.

Minsmere - 3 Little Stint on the scrape + 2 Spotted Redshank.

Alde Estuary - 28 Spoonbill, Osprey, juvenile Curlew Sand + juvenile Little Stint Hazelwood Marshes. 6 Whinchat + 2 LRP on Town Marshes.

Boyton - Garganey still on the flash this morning + Spotted Redshank

Thursday 9th.

Waveney Area - Juvenile Garganey and juvenile Little Stint on Peto's Marsh from North Hide.

Minsmere -3 Little Stint on east scrape.

Sizewell - Whinchat in dunes just north of Sizewell B.

Alde Estuary - 33 Spoonbill roosting this evening at Hazelwood Marsh, also Osprey, 3 Whinchat, 2 juvenile LRP & Spotted Redshank on Town Marshes.

Boyton - Spotted Redshank seen briefly on the flash.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat + Common Redstart (photo John Richardson).

Woodbridge - Whinchat on the disused airfield.

Wednesday 8th.

Southwold - Pied Fly in silver birch clump by the sewage works, near-by 2 Spot Reds on the flash & 2 Whinchat in the field just south of there.

Walberswick - Little Stint, Spotted Redshank & 2 Whinchat the highlights from Tinkers Marsh.

Thorpeness - Pied Flycatcher by the allotments.

North Warren - Merlin seen over south marsh.

Alde Estuary - 22+ Spoonbill at Hazelwood Marsh.

Boyton - Garganey on the flash at 10:20hrs.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat noted.

Tuesday 7th.

Waveney Area - Wryneck seen in copse between Marsh Lane & Coopers Lane Kessingland this afternoon. Little Stint on Petos Marsh Carlton Marshes + juvenile Garganey.

North Warren - Possible HONEY BUZZARD seen SE over the marshes at 11:41hrs

Alde Estuary - 27+ Spoonbill still at Hazelwood Marshes + Osprey.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly still by the allotments (photo John Richardson) + 4 Whinchat & Hobby noted.

Felixstowe - Wryneck still present at LBO though remains elusive.

Monday 6th.

Waveney Area - An incredible count of 72 (seventy-two) Common Buzzard were noted south over Kessingland between 13:22 - 14:30hrs also a possible HONEY BUZZARD was seen. Little Stint Peto's Marsh Carlton Marsh SWT. 

Benacre - Whinchat south of the broad.

Southwold - Purple Sand seen along the sea defences.

Dunwich - 2 Pied Flys between Dunwich - Walberswick at Dingle Hill Cottages + 4 Common Redstart.

Minsmere - Garganey on south scrape.

Thorpeness - 16 Little Gull offshore.

Alde Estuary - 2 Little Stint Hazelwood Marshes + Curlew Sand & 2 Whinchat.

Snape - LRP Botany Marsh.

Hollesley - Whinchat seen on Upper Hollesley Common.

Felixstowe - The Wryneck was again seen at LBO in the compound this morning but ultra elusive. Pied Fly along Quilter Road.

Ipswich - Whinchat at the east end of Bourne Park viewed from footpath through Ostrich meadow.

Hadleigh - Wryneck seen briefly near Shelley in hedgerow along Marsh Road near junction with Chapel Lane this evening.

Sunday 5th.

Waveney Area - Pied Flys seen at Flycatcher Alley and North Denes shelter belt Lowestoft + Pedlers Lane Kessingland. Black Redstart Ness Point. Osprey over Carlton Marshes VC mid morning + Little Stint on the reserve.

Southwold - 7 Spotted Redshank on the flash.

Walberswick - 6 Little Stint Tinkers Marsh.

Minsmere - Black Tern and Curlew Sand.

Eastbridge - Pied Fly seen this morning.

Sizewell - 10 adult Little Gull + juvenile Arctic Tern off the outfall.

Alde Estuary - 28+ Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + juvenile Curlew Sand & 1 Osprey still present.

Felixstowe - Wryneck still within the compound at LBO though very elusive + Pied Fly.

Stowmarket - 2 Whinchat Combs Ford this morning.

Lakenheath - WHITE STORK again Lakenheath Fen RSPB in flight md morning + 3 Spot Reds.

Saturday 4th.

Waveney Area - 4 Little Stint on the shore pools at Kessingland, near-by 4 Pied Fly trapped and ringed at the sewage works. Sooty Shearwater north off Ness Point + 4 Whinchat at North Denes. Pied Fly Gunton burial ground.

Southwold - Tree Pipit, 3 Spot Fly & 2 Pied Fly at the sewage works.

Minsmere - Little Stint on east scrape + Garganey on south scrape.

Sizewell - Pied Fly at Sizewell Hall

Thorpeness - Pied Fly by the allotments.

Slaughden - 3 Arctic Tern + 1w Little Gull north.

Alde Estuary - 28 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes.

Sudbourne - 5 Whinchat Sudbourne Marshes near Ferry Farm

Hollesley - 2 Wryneck were trapped and ringed at a private site in the village this morning + 6 Whinchat at Hollesley Marshes.

Shingle Street - Whinchat between Shingle Street - East Lane.

Felixstowe - Wryneck trapped & ringed at LBO (photo Will Brame) + 2 Common Redstart & Whinchat noted, offshore Black Tern, Osprey over and Purple Sand on the point.

Alton Water - Osprey over the west side of the reservoir at midday.

Friday 3rd.

Waveney Area -  Juvenile SABINE'S GULL north off Kessingland at 17:25hrs (same as Southwold & Minsmere bird) and then off Lowestoft at 17:57hrs before lost to view (dropped onto the sea). Pied Fly north of Flycatcher Alley steps + Whinchat along North Denes. Pied Fly Marsh Lane Kessingland. 2 Black Redstart still in the wind turbine compound. 2 Sooty Shearwater north off Lowestoft.

Benacre - Sooty Shearwater north offshore.

Southwold - Juvenile SABINE'S GULL (same as Minsmere bird) seen off the harbour mouth at 17:05hrs. Long-tailed Skua south then out to sea at 07:00hrs + 2 Sooty Shearwater north. Pied Fly seen in Waters Copse.

Minsmere - Juvenile SABINE'S GULL north offshore at 16:42hrs + 3 Sooty Shearwater north offshore prior to 08:00hrs.

Sizewell - 2 Black Redstart at Sizewell A power station + 2 Little Gull off the outfalls.

Thorpeness - Black Tern north offshore prior to 07:00hrs. Pied Fly seen by the allotments and at the OCP..

Alde Estuary - 3 juvenile Curlew Sand, 2 juvenile Little Stint, 18 Spoonbill & 2 Osprey Hazelwood Marshes + 3 Whinchat.

Shingle Street - 2 Pied Fly around the allotments this afternoon.

Lackford - Great Egret at Lackford Lakes on the slough.

Lakenheath - 3 Spot Reds + Wood Sand Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Thursday 2nd.

Waveney Area - Long-tailed Skua north past the Oval at 18:40hrs. Pied Fly at Ness Point + Common Redstart Gunton disused railtrack. Juvenile Garganey on Peto's Marsh between Turnpike and North hides.

Southwold - Sooty Shearwater north at 06:45hrs.

Minsmere - Garganey still on south scrape + 6 Little Gulls, 2 juvenile Little Stints & Spot Red on the scrape. Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Thorpeness - A GREENISH WARBLER was reported from the Old Caravan Park late morning + 2 Pied Flys.

Alde Estuary - 14+ Spoonbill at Hazelwood Marsh + 4 juvenile Curlew Sand & juvenile Little Stint on the rising tide (photos Mark Cornish). 2 juvenile Little Stint were on Town Marshes + 14 Whinchat.

Snape - Great Egret Botany Marsh.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly in the garden of Battery Cottage south of the Martello tower + Whinchat near the tennis court.

Felixstowe - Pied Fly at LBO + 4 Whinchat and a Grasshopper Warbler along the butts.

Lakenheath - WHITE STORK on Hockwold Wash at 16:10hrs + Spotted Redshank & Wood Sand.

Wednesday 1st.

Benacre - Common Redstart west of Beach Farm.

Walberswick - 3 juvenile Arctic Tern in the harbour mouth late morning.

Minsmere - A CORY'S SHEARWATER was noted south offshore at 06:40hrs. On the scrape, Garganey, 6 Little Gull, 2 Spot Reds & 2 Little Stint + Purple Sand on the sluice outfall.

Alde Estuary - 17 Spoonbill still at Hazelwood Marshes.

Snape - Immature Glossy Ibis still present on Botany Marsh + Great Egret.

Shingle Street - Pied Flycatcher seen along the footpath adjacent to the allotment.

Bawdsey - Common Redstart in the car park compound at East Lane.

Felixstowe - Common Redstart and Whinchat noted at LBO.

Lackford - Juvenile Black Tern still over the sailing lake at Lackford Lakes SWT.

Lakenheath - 3 Spot Reds + Wood Sand Lakenheath Fen RSPB
