SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

Wednesday 30th.

Waveney Area - At least 2 Yellow-browed Warblers remain in Sparrows Nest Park today + a single YBW was seen along the North Denes. Single Lapland Bunting still on the beach at Kessingland + Snow Bunting.

Covehithe - Juvenile Little Stint still showing well on the broad.

Southwold - Lesser Whitethroat (probably of Eastern form) in scrub behind west side of campsite (photo Brian Small).

Walberswick - A Yellow Wagtail of probable EASTERN origin, was heard on Corporation Marshes this afternoon at TM.488.731. 3 Great Egrets on Westwood Marsh.

Minsmere - Highlights from around the reserve included Garganey, Great Egret and Little Stint.

Shingle Street - Lapland Bunting seen amongst the large Linnet at the southern end + 2 Snow Bunting.

Felixstowe - Yellow-browed Warbler seen and heard from Cloncurry Gardens / Grange Road.

Lakenheath - 2 Black Tern at Lakenheath Fen + Great Egret.

Tuesday 29th.

Waveney Area - Single Lapland Bunting was still by the shore pools + Snow Bunting. A probable SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF was seen along the path leading to the steps by Rider Haggard. Yellow-browed Warblers were seen at Kessingland sewage works (trapped), SW corner of Kessingland beach car park & 3+ along Sparrows Nest top loop also with Pied Fly & Common Redstart seen here. 2 Common Crane seen over Carlton Marshes SWT and appeared to land on Peto's Marsh.

Benacre - Yellow-browed Warbler seen by the pits

Southwold - 2 1st winter Caspian Gulls at the harbour mouth at 09:15hrs.

Minsmere - 2 Common Crane north over the reserve at 07:25hrs.

Thorpeness - A Long-tailed Skua was seen offshore late morning.

Hollesley - Merlin noted at Hollesley Marsh RSPB then flew south.

Alton Water - Osprey seen over the visitor centre at 12:45hrs.

Monday 28th.

Big news today was the sighting of an adult BLACK-BROWED ALBATROSS that flew south down our coastline. The bird was tracked from the following locations and subsequent timings were noted as follows...

Lowestoft - 15:47hrs (initial sighting)

Southwold - 16:20 - 16:37hrs

Sizewell - 16:50 - 16:59hrs

Thorpeness - 17:13 - 17:25hrs


Waveney Area - 1+ Yellow-browed Warbler in sycamores along North Denes on slope just north of the oval + 2 Purple Sands along sea defences. Yellow-browed Warbler on Maltsters Score. At Kessingland, 7 Lapland Bunting remain on the beach S of the main shore pool though mobile + Short-eared Owl, Jack Snipe, Snow Bunting & Ring Ouzel all noted in the area + Hawfinch at the sewage works. Female Ring Ouzel seen feeding along the N edge of Gunton burial ground. 2 Ring-necked Parakeet north along Gunton Cliff.

Benacre - The confiding 1st winter GREY PHALAROPE continues to show well on the pits then flew high north at 13:00hrs.

Easton - Lapland Bunting 1/2 mile south of the broad then flew south, near-by Little Stint on Covehithe Broad + male Common Redstart in the NW corner of the broad

Southwold - A Yellow-browed Warbler was present in scrub along the western edge of the campsite + Ring Ouzel & Spotted Flycatcher. Common Redstart in Waters Copse. Lapland Bunting south over the golf course at 12:25hrs

Blythburgh - Osprey still being seen on the estuary.

Thorpeness - Merlin seen to come in off then head north + Common Redstart at the old caravan park.

Orford - Yellow-browed Warbler in trees by Orford yacht club.

Boyton - 4 Pink-footed Geese Boyton Marh RSPB.

Felixstowe - Yellow-browed Warbler at LBO + Short-eared Owl seen by the golf course.

Trimley - 2 Common Crane north at 13:05hrs

Stradbroke - 1+ Turtle Dove flew low across the B1118 at Wilby.

Sunday 27th.

Waveney Area - A juvenile SABINE'S GULL was found on the shore pools at Kessingland at 12:02hrs where it remained until 13:20hrs then flew inland (West), also 7 Lapland Bunting & a single Snow Bunting on the beach there (photo Chris Darby).

Benacre - A 1st winter GREY PHALAROPE was present and showing well on the pits south of the sluice this afternoon.

Minsmere - Drake Velvet Scoter N offshore at 07:20hrs.

Sizewell - 18 Little Gull off the out rigs + 2 juvenile Arctic Tern.

Thorpeness - Purple Sand N offshore.

Aldeburgh - Yellow-browed Warbler found in the town late morning + single Pink-footed Goose, Ring Ouzel & Whinchat on Town Marshes.

Slaughden - Arctic Skua & Arctic Tern both noted N offshore.

Hollesley - 2 Lapland Bunting S mid morning

Deben Estuary - Osprey still present and showing well from Kyson Point early afternoon at least.


Felixstowe - Lapland Bunting W over LBO + singles of Ring Ouzel, Common Redstart & Black Redstart noted around the common, whilst a Purple Sand and a southbound Arctic Skua were seen. A probable GREY PHALAROPE was seen briefly on the sea from the ferry then flew north.


Saturday 26th.

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler along the SE edge of Warrenhouse Wood Gunton at 11:20hrs. 2 Puffin N off Gunton Cliff prior to 08:00hrs + 4 Arctic Skua (3 N & 1S) + ad Little Gull N.

Southwold - 2 Arctic Skua N, 3 Bonxie S + 1 Greater Scaup N were the highlights from a 3 hour sea-watch between 06:45-09:45hrs. Sea-watch from 15:00-16:15hrs produced 3 Arctic Skua S, 1 Bonxie S, 1 Arctic Tern & 1 Greater Scaup N

Raydon - Cattle Egret over at 10:15hrs heading SW towards Raydon Marshes.

Minsmere - Short-eared Owl in of then flew onto south levels + 2 Arctic Terns (photo Andrew Moon).

Sizewell - Great Northern Diver N at 08:20hrs + 3 juvenile Arctic Tern & 1 Little Gull noted.

Thorpeness - 3 Pomarine Skua seen S offshore between 15:20-16:50hrs.

Aldeburgh - Manx Shearwater south close offshore at 14:10hrs.


Felixstowe - Pomarine Skua N off LBO this morning + Lapland Bunting seen briefly on the common then lost to view.

Long Melford - Great Egret seen by the sewage works then flew across the River Stour into Essex.

Friday 25th.

Southwold - 4 Arctic Skua (3S & 1N) + 2 juvenile Arctic Terns noted offshore between 06:30 - 13:00hrs.

Alde Estuary - 16 Pink-footed Geese circled Town Marshes then carried on south + a single Pink-footed Goose on the deck.

Thursday 24th.

Benacre - 4 Caspian Gull on the broad + 15 Yellow-legged Gulls.

Southwold - 35 Pink-footed Geese south off the harbour at 15:30hrs.

Minsmere - 2 Little Stint on east scrape & 2 Garganey on south scrape.

Alde Estuary - 2 juvenile Curlew Sand, 2 juvenile Little Stint & Spotted Redshanks noted on the ebbing tide at Hazelwood Marshes this morning.

Nayland - Juvenile dark-phase Long-tailed Skua SW over at 08:15hrs.

Wednesday 23rd.

Waveney Area - 2 Ring-necked Parakeet sth over Lowestoft North Denes at 10:40hrs.

Benacre - 11 Caspian Gull (all 1st winter) on the broad + Great Egret.

Dunwich - 2 Great Egret on Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - 3 Little Stint on east scrape + immature Garganey.

Thorpeness - 1st winter female Ring Ouzel on the beach 300 yards nth of the old caravan park.

Felixstowe - Ring Ouzel still LBO though elusive.

Tuesday 22nd.

Dunwich - Short-eared Owl seen near the beach car park + Great Egret on Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - 4 Great Egret, 3 Little Stint + Curlew Sand on the reserve.

Bawdsey - Pied Flycatcher at East Lane along the concrete track.

Felixstowe - Ring Ouzel, Spotted Flycatcher + Redstart seen at LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret still on the reservoir at the SWT reserve.

Monday 21st.

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Dip Farm football pitch along north perimeter this evening with tit flock. 2+ Lapland Bunting on the beach at Kessingland this evening. Great Egret Carlton Marshes SWT.

Southwold - 2 Spotted Flycatcher by the campsite. 1w Caspian Gull along the harbour.

Minsmere - A SPOTTED CRAKE was reported on pool behind south hide at 07:00hrs, also BARRED WARBLER 200 yards south of the sluice & Pied Fly in bushes by east hide. 3 juvenile Little Stints remain on east scrape.

Alde Estuary - Short-eared Owl, 4 Whinchat + Spotted Redshank.

Shingle Street - No sign of the juvenile Little Stint.

Hollesley - Yellow-browed Warbler trapped within the village.

Felixstowe - Ring Ouzel present at LBO + 2 Common Redstart.

Stour Estuary - Osprey still present.

Sunday 20th.

Waveney Area - An adult SABINES GULL was reported N off Gunton + 2 Yellow-browed Warbler at Dip Farm. 2 Sooty Shearwater N off Hamilton Road at 07:55 and 08:10hrs. Osprey over Carlton Marshes just after 09:00hrs.

Covehithe - Common Redstart in meadow just south of the broad.

Southwold - Sooty Shearwater N at 07:20hrs. Firecrest Waters Copse.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey again on the estuary viewed from Hen Reed-beds.

Dunwich - Pied Flycatcher Greyfriars Wood. Snow Bunting between Dunwich - Walberswick.

Minsmere - 2+ Little Stint on east scrape.

Thorpeness - Adult SABINE'S GULL seen north along the beach then headed inland. The 1st winter Ring Ouzel was again at the north end of the old caravan park + Common Redstart by paddocks along Aldringham Walks.


Aldeburgh - Pied Flycatcher in the grounds of the churchyard.

Shingle Street - Juvenile Little Stint still on the pool south of Battery Cottage (photo Eddie Marsh).

Bawdsey - Merlin in off at East Lane.

Stour Estuary - Osprey still being seen on the estuary between Brantham and Stutton.

Saturday 19th.

Waveney Area - GREAT SHEARWATER north past Hamilton Road coastguard at 09:58hrs (same as Southwold bird). Glossy Ibis on Peto's Marsh Carlton Marsh SWT.

Southwold - A GREAT SHEARWATER was seen north offshore between 08:40 - 08:50hrs + 2 Manx Shearwater & Arctic Skua noted. Glossy Ibis south over the town at 07:32hrs. Pied Flycatcher & Firecrest seen in Waters Copse.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey seen again from Hen Reedbeds at 14:00hrs + Lapland Bunting over.

Minsmere - 2 juvenile Little Stint from east hide. Sooty Shearwater north offshore.

Thorpeness - Ring Ouzel at the north end of the Old Caravan Park + 2 Arctic Skua south offshore

Aldeburgh - 2 Common Redstart, Firecrest & 4 Whinchat around the town + Jack Snipe.

Alde Estuary - 10 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes.

Shingle Street - Juvenile Little Stint on the pool just south of Battery Cottage.

Stour Estuary - Osprey seen heading towards Stutton Ness.

Friday 18th.

Waveney Area - Common Redstart along North Denes + Short-eared Owl in off. 2 Pied Flycatcher Belle Vue Park.

Southwold - Single Sooty Shearwater N offshore at 06:45hrs + juv Little Gull, 4 Arctic Skua & 6 Bonxie noted. Pied Fly Waters Copse & Spotted Fly SE corner of the campsite.

Minsmere - Sea-watching produced a northward bound Leach's Petrel at 11:45hrs + Long-tailed Skua, Sooty Shearwater & 2+ Arctic Skua (all N). On the scrape, Little Scrape & 3 Caspian Gulls noted. 3 Whinchat in the dunes.

Thorpeness - Pied Flycatcher in large sycamore at the allotments south of the OCP.

Aldeburgh - The first Yellow-browed Warbler of the autumn was discovered this morning in a private area + 3 Whinchat & Spotted Flycatcher noted (photo Mark Cornish).

Slaughden - Sooty Shearwater N offshore at 07:27hrs.

Hollesley - Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Hollesley Marshes.

Trimley Marshes - MARSH WARBLER trapped and ringed this morning.

Kersey Tye - Raven over the village at 09:22hrs.


Thursday 17th.

Waveney Area - Sea-watching from Ness Point produced a single CORY'S SHEARWATER S at 10:20hrs, 2 BALEARIC SHEARWATER N at 08:35hrs (same as Southwold birds), 4 Sooty Shearwater N by 08:40hrs, 3 Bonxies S & 1 Manx Shearwater N at 09:11hrs. 5 Common Redstart this evening along Gunton RT/Dip Farm football pitches.

Covehithe - Long-tailed Skua N at 09:25hrs, Sooty Shearwater N at 11:30hrs & Manx Shearwater N at 12:15hrs.

Southwold - Highlights offshore included; 3 BALEARIC SHEARWATER (2 N at 08:00hrs & 1 N at 08:37hrs), Pom Skua (S at 07:40hrs) 4 Sooty Shearwater (singles N at 08:08, 08:17, 09:03 & 09:43hrs) 2 Arctic Skua N & Manx Shearwater N at 09:15hrs. Common Redstart in the Dell by the flash & Ring Ouzel by the Pit Stop cafe.

Blythburgh - Osprey seen on the estuary from A12 roadbridge.

Minsmere - 2 Sooty Shearwater (singles N at 07:52 & 08:00hrs). 4 Little Stint on the scrape.

Thorpeness - Long-tailed Skua N at 09:00hrs + Manx Shearwater sat on the sea at 10:30hrs. Pied Flycatcher seen at the OCP.

Aldeburgh - Up to 5 Common Redstart around the town (photo Mark Cornish). Juvenile Little Stint & 12 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes.

Slaughden - 3 Sooty Shearwater (singles N at 07:20, 08:30 & 08:54hrs) Manx Shearwater N at 07:54hrs + 2 Arctic Skua, Bonxie & juv Arctic Tern noted.

Bawdsey - Pied Flycatcher seen at East Lane.

Deben Estuary - The Osprey was again seen fishing the river between Kysoon Point - Martlesham Creek.

Felixstowe - Manx Shearwater N at 08:46hrs.

Wednesday 16th.

Waveney Area - Common Crane west over Blackheath Road, Lowestoft towards Oulton at 10:20hrs then 2 Common Crane seen over Oulton Marshes at 10:45hrs. 2 Shag on the sea of Gorleston Pier.

Covehithe - Sooty Shearwater north at 15:45hrs + Manx Shearwater north at 15:40hrs (same as Minsmere bird)

Minsmere - 2 Little Stint on East scrape + Great Egret Island Mere. Manx Shearwater north close inshore at 15:05hrs.

Saxmundham - A HOOPOE was seen and photographed just on the outskirts of the ton.

Deben Estuary - 8 Common Crossbill over Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Alton Water - Single Black Tern viewable from the yacht club.

Tuesday 15th.

Waveney Area - 2+ Whinchat seen at Gunton burial ground + adult Little Gull north past North Denes.

Easton - Little Stint still showing on Easton Broad.

Southwold - Great Egret seen north over the town.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey, 2 Great Egret & 2 Curlew Sands seen from Wolsey Creek.

Minsmere - Highlights from around the reserve include 4 Great Egret & 2 Little Stint.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret + 2 Garganey on the SWT reserve.

Deben Estuary - Osprey still present along Martlesham Creek / Kyson Point.

Alton Water - 2 Black Tern still on the reservoir viewed from either the yacht club or from Larchwood Bay.

Kettlebaston - Raven seen and heard over the village.

Lackford - Great Egret on the SWT reserve.

Monday 14th.

Easton - The confiding juvenile Little Stint continues to show ell on the broad, near-by Whinchat along clifftop track East of Covehithe church

Blyth Estuary - 8 Curlew Sands viewable from Wolsey Creek this morning.

Alde Estuary - 27 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + Osprey.

Deben Estuary - The Osprey continued to show between Kyson Point and along Martlesham Creek.

Stour Estuary - Osprey still showing over the estuary viewed from Brantham.

Alton Water - 2 Black Tern over the reservoir viewed from the dam end.

Sunday 13th.

Easton - Confiding juvenile Little Stint again on Easton Broad.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey seen again from Hen Reedbeds

Minsmere - 2 Little Stint on south scrape + Curlew Sand.

Alde Estuary - 3 Osprey from Hazelwood Marshes + 27 Spoonbill & Spotted Redshank.

Boyton - Juvenile Little Stint on the flash this evening.

Deben Estuary - Osprey seen again along river at Martlesham Creek & Waldringield + Shag at Kyson Point.

Felixstowe - 2 Spoonbill south past LBO at 06:40hrs.

Saturday 12th.

Easton - Confiding Little Stint on Easton Broad.

Blyth Estuary - Osprey still present on the estuary seen from Hen Reedbeds.

Minsmere - 12 Curlew Sands reported on the scrape + 2 Great Egret.

Alde Estuary - 38 Spoonbill at Hazelwood Marshes (Havergate birds) + 2 Osprey, 2 juvenile LRPSpotted Redshank & 5 Whinchat seen throughout the morning.

Havergate - 46 Spoonbill (Suffolk's highest count) seen on the RSPB island before flying north at 09:40hrs.

Boyton - Great Egret Boyton Marshes.

Deben Estuary - Osprey seen along Martlesham Creek / Kyson Point Point mid morning.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret on the reservoir.

Friday 11th.

Walberswick - Osprey seen at Tinkers Marsh.

Alde Estuary - A new county record high off 44 Spoonbill were present at Hazelwood Marshes + 2 Osprey present.

Havergate - 14 juvenile Curlew Sands on the RSPB reserve + 1w Arctic Tern.

Boyton - A BARRED WARBLER was reported from the river wall in bramble clump at TM.391.462.

Bawdsey - Both Short-eared Owl & Merlin seen to come in off at East Lane this morning. 

Felixstowe - Pied Flycatcher still at LBO.

Stour Estuary - Opsrey still present on the estuary viewed from Stutton ness.

Thursday 10th.

Benacre - Single juvenile Curlew Sand on the broad + Caspian Gull & 6 YL Gulls, also Great Egret south. Merlin seen by Beach Farm

Southwold - Short-eared Owl in of this morning at Easton Bavents.

Blythburgh - 2 Osprey still on the estuary.

Minsmere - 2 Curlew Sands on south scrape + Great Egret. Pied Fly in the sluice bushes & Whinchat in the dunes.

Thorpeness - 2 Tree Sparrows seen briefly at the old caravan park before flying off south.

Alde Estuary - 27 Spoonbill seen on Hazelwood Marshes.

Hollesley - A HONEY BUZZARD was seen south over the village at 08:48hrs.

Felixstowe - 2 Common Redstart & 2 Spot Flys at LBO.

Lakenheath - 2 Great Egrets Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Wednesday 9th.

Waveney Area - Pied Flycatcher along Gunton disused railtrack.

Blyth Estuary - 5+ Curlew Sands + Osprey viewable from Wolsey Creek.

Minsmere - 2 Great Egrets on Island Mere.

Alde Estuary - 31 Spoonbill at Hazelwood Marsh + Osprey.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat by the martello tower.

Bawdsey - The confiding 1st winter Red-backed Shrike was again present and showing well north of the lagoons at East Lane + 2 Whinchat.

Felixstowe - Pied Flycatcher still present at LBO.

Stour Estuary - Osprey still present 

Lakenheath - 3 Great Egret Lakenheath Fen RSPB.

Tuesday 8th.

Waveney Area - A BARRED WARBLER was this afternoon in brambles in the NE corner of North Denes though generally elusive.

Benacre - Raven circled the broad then headed north at 11:02hrs.

Covehithe - Large Shearwater sp seen north close offshore at 09:56hrs.

Southwold - 1w Caspian Gull seen in pigfields at Easton Bavents.

Blyth Estuary - 2 Osprey still on the estuary viewable from Wolsey Creek + 8 Curlew Sands. A Great Egret was noted roosting at high tide with 8 Little Egrets from Blythburgh road-bridge.

Minsmere - 6+ Whinchat along the dunes.

Alde Estuary - 29 Spoonbill again at Hazelwood Marsh + Osprey still.

Bawdsey - A BALEARIC SHEARWATER was seen close north offshore at 09:05hrs. The confiding juvenile Red-backed Shrike and Lapland Bunting seen between East Lane - Shingle Street (photo James Kennerley).

Burgh - 2 Ravens south over the village at 09:30hrs.

Hadleigh - 2+ Whinchat still present Raydon airfield.

Monday 7th.

Blyth Estuary - 2 Osprey seen from Hen Reedbeds.

Minsmere - 2 Great Egret on Island Mere + 3 Curlew Sand on south scrape.

Alde Estuary - No sign of the Pectoral Sandpiper at Hazelwood Marsh high tide, but 30 Spoonbill noted + Osprey & 2 Curlew Sand

Havergate - Wood Warbler present on the RSPB reserve this morning.

Boyton - The Spotted Redshank was again on the flash at Boyton Marshes.

Bawdsey - The confiding Red-backed Shrike continued to show well North of East Lane by the martello tower.

Deben Estuary - 2 Curlew Sand at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - Pied Flycatcher at LBO.

Sunday 6th.

Waveney Area - 3 1st winter Caspian Gulls along Lowestoft North Beach this morning.

Southwold - Purple Sand on sea defences north of the pier.

Blyth Estuary - 2 Osprey & 2 Curlew Sands on the estuary viewable from Hen Reedbeds with the Osprey being seen from the A12 road-bridge late afternoon.

Minsmere - 2 juvenile Curlew Sands on east scrape though no sign of the juvenile Little Stint. Great Egret on the reserve.

Alde Estuary - A Pectoral Sandpiper was seen in the NE corner of Hazelwood Marshes between 14:22 - 14:33hrs + 26 Spoonbill still & juv Little Stint, also Osprey seen fishing on the estuary at 11:00hrs, also LRP & 2 Whinchat noted.

Bawdsey - A confiding juvenile Red-backed Shrike was seen by the martello tower north of the lagoons at East Lane early afternoon and remained until early evening at least (photo Gi Gireco).

Deben Estuary - 2 Curlew Sand still on the meadow at Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Trimley Marshes - Highlights from the SWT reserve today included 3 juvenile Curlew Sand, 2 juvenile Little Stint, juvenile Wood Sandpiper, LRP & Great Egret.

Stour Estuary - Osprey still on the estuary today viewed from Manningtree.

Stowmarket - Raven north over the town at 11:58hrs.

Saturday 5th.

Waveney Area - Osprey south over North Lowestoft at 09:15hrs. Common Redstart Gunton Warren & 3 Spotted Flycatcher just north of Links Hill.

Benacre - Juvenile Curlew Sand & Wood Sands on the broad.

Covehithe - 2 juvenile Curlew Sands on the broad + 2 Whinchat.

Southwold - Purple Sand on groynes north of the pier.

Walberswick - Juvenile Caspian Gull in field near beach car park.

Minsmere - 2 juvenile Curlew Sand + juvenile Little Stint on East scrape + 2 Great Egret Island Mere & 7 Whinchat south of the sluice bushes.

Snape - Highlights from Botany Marshes included Wood Sandpiper, Little-ringed Plover & Garganey.

Alde Estuary - 2 Osprey still Hazelwood Marshes + 20 Spoonbill & 6 Whinchat from around the estuary.

Orford - 3 Whinchat.

Boyton - Great Egret seen by Boyton Dock then flew upriver towards Butley.

Hollesley - Short-eared Owl flushed by Simpsons salting's.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat.

Deben Estuary - 3 Curlew Sand Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Friday 4th.

Waveney Area - Great Egret Carlton Marshes.

Covehithe - 3 juvenile Curlew Sand on the broad.

Southwold - Purple Sand on groynes north of the pier.

Minsmere - 2 Raven seen over the reserve this morning + 4 Curlew Sands, Little Stint & Short-eared Owl in off.

Alde Estuary - 20 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + 2 juvenile Curlew Sand & Spotted Redshank noted. 17 Whinchat seen around the marshes + 2 Short-eared Owl.

Boyton - Great Egret Boyton Marshes + Spotted Redshank.

Deben Estuary - 2 juvenile Curlew Sands Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - Pied Fly still at LBO.

Trimley Marshes - Great Egret, Spot Redshank, Wood Sand (juv), Curlew Sand (juv), Garganey (juv) & 2 Little Stints (both juvs) the highlights from the SWT reserve.

Badingham - Osprey seen at 15:40hrs flying east/southeast over arable field (liberally spread with chicken manure). Rested for 5-7 minutes then continued eastwards. Junction Old Hall and Pound Green Roads towards Badingham High Road A1120.

Thursday 3rd.

Waveney Area - Great Egret on the old scrape at Carlton Marshes.

Covehithe - 3 juv Curlew Sand on the broad.

Minsmere - 2 Curlew Sand & Little Stint on the scrape. Whinchat, Redstart & 2 Spotted Flycatcher along north wall.

Felixstowe - A Ruddy Shelduck was seen to come in off at LBO just prior to 07:00hrs which was then re-located later along the Stour Estuary off Mistley, also 4 Arctic Tern south afternoon of LBO + Spotted Flycatcher.

Hadleigh - Still 2 Whinchat on the disused airfield at Raydon.

Wednesday 2nd.

Waveney Area - Osprey seen over Burgh Castle.

Covehithe - 5 juv Curlew Sands on the broad.

Southwold - 2 juv Caspian Gull along the harbour wall.

Blyth Estuary - 3 juv Curlew Sands seen along Wolsey Creek from Hen Reedbeds.

Dunwich - 3 Great Egret seen on pools at Dingle Marshes.

Minsmere - Curlew Sand, Little Stint & Great Egret seen on the scrape this morning.

Tuesday 1st.

Lowestoft Area - 2 Pied Fly Corton Woods + Great Egret Carlton Marsh.

Benacre - Firecrest in copse east of Beach Farm.

Southwold - Raven high south over the town at 15:45hrs. Juvenile Caspian Gull + 2cy YL Gull at the harbour mouth.

Blyth Est - 4 Curlew Sands viewable from Wolsey Creek.

Minsmere - Little Stint & Curlew Sand on East scrape + Caspian & YL Gull on south scrape.

Thorpeness - Pied Fly at the northern end of the old caravan park.

Alde Estuary - Merlin & 7 Whinchat seen around the estuary.

Snape - Juvenile SPOTTED CRAKE still on Botany Marsh though remains distant and elusive.

Boyton - Spotted Redshank on the flash.

Shingle Street - Shag sitting on the beach opposite the martello tower + Whinchat.

Deben Estuary - Little Stint, 2 Wood Sands & 5 Curlew Sand Ramsholt Lodge Marsh.

Felixstowe - 2 Pied Fly still LBO + Whinchat.
