Friday 30th

Benacre - A RADDE'S WARBLER was found in the NE edge of the copse east of Beach Farm, also Yellow-browed Warbler, Hawfinch & Common Redstart noted.

Southwold - Ring Ouzel in the hedgerow west of Buss Creek.

Minsmere - 2 Pom Skua + probable Black-throated Diver noted north offshore.

North Warren - 1st winter Grey Phalarope continues to show on South Marsh.

Orford - Ring Ouzel present.

Hollesley - 1+ Little Stint still present on the scrape.

Orwell Estuary - Moulting adult Black-necked Grebe seen from Levington Creek at 12:45hrs.

Thursday 29th

Waveney Area - A RADDE'S WARBLER was trapped at Kessingland sewage works this morning + Whinchat by the sluice (photo c/o Brian Small).

Benacre - 1st winter Grey Phalarope on the sea at c16:30hrs then flew south towards Covehithe and landed on the sea.

North Warren - The 1w Grey Phalarope was again present and showing on South Marsh though mobile.

Alde Estuary - Little Stint still on Town Marsh.

Orford - Yellow-browed Warbler present in the car park by the sailing club though elusive.

Hollesley - Yellow-browed Warbler heard calling along the access track to the viewing platform late morning + 3 Little Stint on the scrape.

Felixstowe - Pied Flycatcher trapped at LBO + Ring Ouzel.


Wednesday 28th

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler still in the west shelter at Corton Old Sewage Works.

Minsmere - Short-eared Owl seen from Bittern hide + Whinchat south of the sluice + 2 Arctic Tern

North Warren - The 1st winter Grey Phalarope was again present on south marsh

Felixstowe - Dartford Warbler at the Ferry.

Trimley Marshes - A Pectoral Sandpiper was present on the reservoir at the SWT reserve.

Tuesday 27th

Waveney Area - 4 HONEY BUZZARDS Carlton Coville shortly after 14:00hrs this afternoon. Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Old Sewage Works at Corton.

North Warren - Grey Phalarope present on south marsh this afternoon/evening viewed from the viewing platform + Snow Bunting, Whinchat & Great Egret noted (photo c/o Andrew Moon).

Monday 26th

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbers seen at Corton Sewage Works and Kirkley Cemetery.

Benacre - 2 Yellow-browed Warblers see in small copse just east of Beach Farm.

Sunday 25th

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warblers were seen along the western hedge line at Corton Old Sewage Works & Kessingland sewage works (trapped). Purple Sand seen at Ness Point. Long-tailed Skua present on the sea off Corton at 10:42hrs + possible HONEY BUZZARD seen near-by over the holiday park.

Benacre - Yellow-browed Warbler seen in the copse at Beach Farm

Southwold - Yellow-browed Warbler seen in the church yard adjacent to the school playing ground.

Walberswick - A CORNCRAKE was seen and flushed along the footpath at Tinkers Marsh at 12:39hrs.

Blyth Estuary - 4 Spotted Redshank on the estuary this evening.

Alde Estuary - Osprey seen over the estuary viewed from Iken Church + 6 juvenile Curlew Sands seen from Iken Cliffs. Juvenile Little Stint still on Town Marshes.

Boyton Marshes - Osprey flew upriver at 09:00hrs.

Hollesley - 1+ Little Stint on the scrape at Hollesley Marshes.

Stour Estuary - Little Stint present on the marshes west of Brantham white bridge.

Saturday 24th

Waveney Area - Long-tailed Skua north off Ness Point at 06:43hrs. Snow Bunting by the shore pools at Kessingland.

Easton Bavents - Whinchat noted.

Blyth Estuary - Spotted Redshank seen from Hen Reedbeds.

Minsmere - Close Arctic Skua north at 08:14hrs.

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Little Stint on Town Marshes still.

Holesley - 2 juvenile Little Stint at the north end of the scrape.

Bawdsey (East Lane) - Long-tailed skua (dark phase juvenile) north at 08:34hrs + 7 Spoonbill south at 08:18hrs.

Lakenheath - Osprey over Joist Fen early afternoon.

Friday 23rd

Walberswick - 1w Caspian Gull seen along the harbour wall.

Alde Estuary Spoonbill + Spotted Redshank seen at Hazelwood Marshes. Juvenile Little Stint & Curlew Sand both seen on Town Marshes.

Snape - 5 Spoonbill at Botany Marshes + Curlew Sand & Whooper Swan noted.

Hollesley - 8 Pink-footed Geese still present in field beyond Hollesley Marshes

Shingle Street - Common Redstart seen by Lavendar Cottage

Deben Estuary - 6 juvenile Curlew Sands seen by the houseboats at Felixstowe Ferry.

Trimley Marshes - Juvenile Little Stint on the SWT reserve

Thursday 22nd

Benacre - Osprey over the Broad.

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike remains just south of the Bailey Bridge. 4 Snow Bunting remain on the beach in front of the beach huts.

Sizewell - 4+ Black Redstart in front of the power station + 3 Little Gull off the outfall.

Alde Estuary - No sign today of the Pec Sand but Curlew Sand, Whinchat, Spot Fly and Merlin noted around Town Marsh.

Hollesley RSPB - 8 Pink-footed Geese on the scrape.

Deben Estuary - 2 juvenile Curlew Sands at Felixstowe Ferry.

Wednesday 21st

Waveney Area - Yellow-browed Warbler seen at Corton New Sewage Works this morning. Great Northern Diver north off Kessingland this morning.

Southwold - Pied Fly in the campsite this afternoon + 1w Caspian Gull in the harbour mouth

Blyth Estuary - 3 Spotted Redshank from the A12 road-bridge + Osprey viewable from Hen Reedbeds.

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike still remain south of the Bailey Bridge. 4 Snow Bunting on the beach this evening by the beach huts.

Sizewell - 6 Black Redstart by Sizewell A.

Thorpeness - Female Common Redstart at the north end of the OCP

North Warren - Cattle Egret still amongst the cattle on South Marsh.

Alde Estuary - The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper continues to show well on Town Marsh + Curlew Sand.

Snape - 9 Spoonbill on Botany Marsh + Whooper Swan.

Tuesday 20th

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike still south of the Bailey Bridge. Snow Bunting present on the beach.

Minsmere - Garganey & Whooper Swan on Island mere + Little Gull Nth

North Warren - Cattle Egret still on South Marsh

Alde Estuary - Pectoral Sandpiper still present on Town Marshes + Wood Sand.

Slaughden - Sooty Shearwater N at 1120hrs.

Snape - 9 Spoonbill remain at Botany Marsh.

Trimley Marshes - Wryneck still present by the Longhurst Hide + 2 Little Stint on the reserve.

Monday 19th

Waveney Area - A EUROPEAN STORM PETREL flew N past Corton 0733 - 0736hrs. Long-tailed Skua south off North Denes/Ness Point at 1020hrs, also Pom Skua, Arctic Skua and Manx Shearwater noted by 0930hrs.

Blyth Estuary - 8 Spotted Redshanks from the A12 road-bridge + Curlew Sand from Hen Reedbeds.

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike still south of the Bailey Bridge.

Minsmere - Wryneck again on the beach in scrub 200 yards south of North Wall. 8 Little Gull on the sea behind East Hide.

Sizewell - The first Yellow-browed Warbler of the autumn was present in birches just west of Sizewell Hall at 11:34hrs. 6 Black Redstart opposite Sizewell A + 6 Little Gull off the outfalls.

North Warren - Cattle Egret again on South Marsh along the western edge hedge.

Slaughden - Long-tailed Skua offshore 08:20 - 08:35hrs + Great Northern Diver S

Alde Estuary - 2 juvenile Pectoral Sandpipers remain on Town Marshes though mobile. 2 juvenile Curlew Sand + Spotted Redshank at Hazelwood Marshes.

Snape - 9 Spoonbill on Botany Marsh + Whooper Swan.

Hollesley - 8 Pink-footed Geese on the RSPB reserve.

Shingle Street - Whinchat by the tennis courts.

Lakenheath - Osprey over Joist Fen at 12:20hrs.

Sunday 18th

Waveney Area - Pom Skua seen distantly off Lowestoft. Snow Bunting north over Flycatcher Alley.

Blyth Estuary - Curlew Sand & Little Stint off Hen Reedbeds early morning + 27 Pink-footed Geese high N.

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike still present in gorse 200yards south of the Bailey Bridge. 1w Caspian Gull at the harbour mouth.

Saturday 17th

Waveney Area - 2 Long-tailed & 2 Pom Skua off Ness Point prior to 0900hrs + Black Redstart nearby in the wind turbine yard.

Southwold Great Northern Diver S offshore at 0742hrs.

Blythburgh - Curlew Sand + Spot Red viewable on the estuary from the A12 road-bridge

Walberswick - 1w Red-backed Shrike still in gorse 200 yards S of the Bailey Bridge

Minsmere - 15 Pink-footed Geese on Lucky Pool early morning + Snow Bunting on the beach by E hide.

Sizewell - 3+ Black Redstart in dunes opposite Sizewell A (photo c/o Peter Lakey)

Thorpeness - Osprey S + 1w male Common Redstart at the OCP.

Alde Estuary - The 2 juvenile Pectoral Sandpipers were again present on Town Marsh flash this afternoon + Jack Snipe flushed from the footpath this morning + 2 Raven over the west side of the marsh

Havergate - Osprey S over the RSPB reserve.

Deben Estuary - Osprey flew upriver viewed from Felixstowe Ferry

Friday 16th

Waveney Area - Snow Bunting on the beach at Kessingland this evening.

Southwold - Sooty Shearwater N at 07:48hrs

Walberswick - 1st winter Red-backed Shrike 200m south of the Bailey Bridge + Osprey N at 08:20hrs.

Minsmere - Wryneck again in the dunes just south of the North Wall.

Sizewell - 3 Black Redstart in dunes in front of Sizewell A.

Thorpeness - Common Redstart at the OCP

North Warren - Cattle Egret still on South Marsh + Garganey viewable from the platform in the SE corner

Alde Estuary - No sign of the Pec Sands today, 8 Pink-footed Geese were briefly seen before heading N.

Deben Estuary - Osprey along the estuary at Felixstowe Ferry this morning.

Trimley Marshes - 3 Little Stint on the SWT reserve.

Thursday 15th

Walberswick - 1st winter Red-backed Shrike still 100 yards south of the Bailey Bridge in gorse + male Common Redstart.

Blythburgh - 4 Spot Reds on the estuary at high tide roost

Dunwich - 5 Spot Reds on the shore pools.

Sizewell - 7 Black Redstart by the power station complex + Common Redstart & Little Gull noted

North Warren - Cattle Egret close to the footpath by sluice cottage (Halfway House)

Alde Estuary - A BEE-EATER was seen West over Town Marshes before drifting off South at 08:29hrs, also 2 Pectoral Sandpipers now present on the flash (photo Mark Cornish & Andrew Moon below + 2 Wood Sand, 5 Whinchat and Osprey fishing over the river.

Shingle Street - 1st winter Red-backed Shrike still present by the Beacons car park.

Bawdsey - 2 Merlin seen to come in off prior to 08:06hrs

Wednesday 14th

Walberswick - HOOPOE 300 yards south of B1387 The Street / Leverett's Lane junction in stubble field until 08:30hrs then flew north. Wryneck seen along the tarmac track leading to the Bailey Bridge at 07:50hrs + 1w Red-backed Shrike seen south of the Bailey Bridge early afternoon.

Minsmere - Little Stint on the scrape.

North Warren - Cattle Egret still present at the extreme southern end of South Marsh

Alde Estuary - Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper present on Town Marshes early afternoon on main flash.

Shingle Street - 1st winter Red-backed Shrike in scrub by the first car park. + female Common Redstart by Battery Cottage.

Raydon - Whinchat on the disused airfield near the war memorial.

Tuesday 13th

Benacre - Juvenile Little Stint still on the Broad + Whinchat north of the sluice.

Minsmere - The Wryneck continues to show well on occasions on the beach south of the North wall.

North Warren - Wryneck is scrub south of Sluice Cottage. A Cattle Egret was seen amongst the cattle on south marsh this afternoon.

Alde Estuary - Curlew Sand on Town Marshes

Shingle Street - 5 Whinchat present in the baled field + single Whinchat along coastal footpath to East Lane

Melton - 2 Raven calling and soaring over Leeks Hill

Lakenheath - Osprey over the RSPB reserve.

Monday 12th

Benacre - No sign today of the 1w Red-backed Shrike but 3 Spoonbill south.

Southwold - Black Tern south offshore at 0705hrs + Corn Bunting low south 0753hrs.

Blythburgh - Osprey viewable from the A12 road-bridge c1530hrs.

Minsmere - The Wryneck was once again present on the beach 200 yards south of the North wall + 3 Spoonbill south.

Westleton -Pied Fly still on the heath.

Alde Estuary - Little Stint, Wood Sand, Spot Red & Whinchat on Town Marshes.

Trimley Marshes - Little Stint, 3 Curlew Sand & 2 Spot Reds on the SWT reserve.

Lakenheath - Osprey Lakenheath Fen RSPB

Sunday 11th

Benacre - The 1st winter Red-backed Shrike continues to show by the sluice + 2 Raven NE at 1145hrs. Osprey seen heading N just inland of Beach Farm

Southwold - Pied Fly in the churchyard + 2 Common Redstart in the town

Minsmere - Wryneck still present 100 yards south of North Wall on the beach (photo c/o Gary Mowles). Wood Sand on South scrape early afternoon

Westleton - Pied Fly on the heath.

Shingle Street - 2 Pied Fly by the allotments + 8 Whinchat.

Felixstowe - 2 Pied Fly at LBO. Pied Fly + Whinchat this evening along the Tomline Wall.

Stour Estuary - Short-eared Owl seen from Holbrook heading south at 1315hrs.

Saturday 10th

Waveney Area - Osprey over Peto's Marsh Carlton Marshes c1345hrs heading towards Oulton Church.

Benacre - A 1st winter Red-backed Shrike was found by the sluice at 0820hrs and remained until early afternoon at least though elusive at times + Little Stint still on the Broad.

Southwold - Manx Shearwater offshore early morning + Tree Pipit & Common Redstart in scrub by Buss Creek.

Minsmere - Wryneck briefly on the beach 50 yards SE of North Wall + Osprey over the visitor centre.

Aldeburgh - Pied Fly in gardens on Fawcett Road

Alde Estuary (Town Marshes): 5 Little Stint, 2 Curlew Sand, Wood Sand, 2 Spoonbill and juvenile Black Tern the highlights noted up to 0945hrs.

Hollesley - Osprey over the RSPB reserve at 1750hrs.

Shingle Street - HONEY BUZZARD seen south at 1132hrs.

Deben Estuary - HONEY BUZZARD seen from the river mouth at Felixstowe Ferry at 1150hrs then drifted back along river towards Ramsholt.

Felixstowe - A sub-adult male Hen Harrier was noted south through LBO this morning + 2 Whinchat.

Friday 9th

Benacre - Little Stint on the Broad.

Southwold - 4 Pied Fly, Common Redstart and Ring Ouzel around the town.

Blythburgh - 2 Osprey seen on the estuary + Spotted Redshank.

Minsmere - 8 BEE-EATERS S over West Hide at 1042hrs then watched over the levels and headed off SW.

Sizewell - Black Tern + 5 Little Gull off the outfall + Black Redstart by the power station.

Alde Estuary - Highlights from Town Marshes today; 5 Little Stint, 4 Curlew Sand, Wood Sand, 3 LRP, Spoonbill, 11 Whinchat and a male Common Redstart. 11 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes.

Hollesley - 7 Spoonbill over the RSPB reserve heading towards the Deben Estuary.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly still by the allotments.

Bawdsey - Pom Skua S at 0807hrs.

Long Melford - Ring-necked Parakeet seen perched in trees at the junction of Cordell Road and Woolards Gardens at 0650hrs.

Thursday 8th

Benacre - 2 Common Swift.

Sizewell - 9 Little Gull off the outfalls + Black Tern. 2 Black Redstart on the perimeter fence of the power station.

Thorpeness - Short-eared Owl in off at 0735hrs then flew south.

North Warren - Common Swift over North Marsh this afternoon + 3 Whinchat on landward side of South Marsh

Alde Estuary - 4 Little Stint on Town Marshes + 9 Curlew Sand, 2 LRP, Merlin & 5 Whinchat.

Hollesley Marshes - 4 Whinchat + a single Common Swift

Shingle Street - Pied Fly still by the allotments + 5 Whinchat.

Deben Estuary - 3 juvenile Curlew Sands at Felixstowe Ferry.


Wednesday 6th.

Benacre - Juvenile Curlew Sand on the broad this evening.

Minsmere - 2 Curlew Sand on West Scrape + Common Redstart in the dunes.

North Warren - Little Stint on South Marsh

Alde Estuary - 12+ Curlew Sands on Town Marshes + 2 Little Stint.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly seen along the track by the allotments.

Bawdsey (East Lane) - 5 Long-tailed Skuas S at 0800hrs + juvenile Long-tailed Skua feeding close inshore at 0955hrs then headed S.

Tuesday 5th

Benacre - Common Redstart and Whinchat along track in hedgerow south of Beach Farm.

Southwold = A CORY'S SHEARWATER was noted south at 0753hrs, prior to this both singles of Pomarine and Long-tailed Skuas noted south. 2 Pied Fly & single Whinchat seen around the town.

Blythburgh - 5 juvenile Curlew Sands on the estuary viewed from the A12 road-bridge.

Minsmere - 2 Little Stint on the scrape.

Westleton - A Wryneck was found early morning along the Minsmere approach road in gorse east of the common, though was generally elusive throughout the day.

Slaughden - 2 Long-tailed Skua south between 1220 - 1230hrs + Little Gull.

Alde Estuary - 15 Curlew Sand (2 ad + 13 juv)still on Town Marsh flash + Wood Sand and the mobile juvenile Merlin present (2nd day). Juvenile Curlew Sand on the south side of the estuary roosting on grazing marsh at Sudbourne early evening.

Monday 5th

Thorpeness - The male Common Redstart was again present at the OCP.

Alde Estuary - A moulting adult LESSER GOLDEN PLOVER (PACIFIC or AMERICAN) was present distantly on Town Marshes this morning. Please only view from Public Rights of Way. Also noted early morning; 11 Curlew Sands, single Spot Red and 9 Whinchat. Black Tern seen flying east along the river adjacent to the west side of Town Marshes at 1155hrs8 Spoonbill & the Osprey were seen from Hazelwood Marshes. Juvenile Merlin, Common Redstart +Whinchat on Sudbourne Marshes this evening.

Butley - 20 Spoonbill on the river viewed from Chillesford.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly south of the Martello Tower.

Sunday 4th

Waveney Area - Wryneck west of Link's Hill car park + Redstart & Pied Fly by the net posts. A Quail was flushed from coastal weeds at Potters Hopton then flew inland and landed by road.

Benacre - Wryneck still present along the track south Beach Farm though remains elusive + 1st summer Spoonbill still on the broad. A possible RED-BREATSED FLY was seen this evening in the failing light in hedgerow south of Beach Farm

Southwold - 5 Pied Fly around the town + Common Redstart by the car park north of the pier & 2 further Common Redstart along Easton Bavents footpath

Blythburgh - Osprey viewable from the A12 just after midday.

Alde Estuary - A minimum of 16 juvenile Curlew Sands + Wood Sand on Town Marsh flash, also single Spoonbill & 7 Whinchat. 7 Spoonbill Hazelwood Marshes + Osprey.

Hollesley - Osprey south at 1035hrs.

Shingle Street - Pied Fly + 7 Whinchat.

Bawdsey - Pied Fly along Ferry Road in sallows 1/4ml S of Bawdsey Hall.

Trimley Marshes - Temminck's Stint again on the reservoir at the SWT reserve

Huntingfield - A HONEY BUZZARD being mobbed by Covids was seen to fly south at 1000hrs.

Saturday 3rd

Waveney Area - Long-tailed Skua south off Ness Point at 0743hrs. Pied Flys seen at Corton 2 at the Radar Lodge, 1 at Warren Lane and 1 at Ness Point.

Benacre - Wryneck still present along the footpath south of Beach Farm though very elusive + Pied Fly in the north side of the copse east of Beach Farm. Spoonbill on the broad.

Covehithe - Juvenile Arctic Tern offshore

Blythburgh - Osprey seen on the estuary viewed from Hen Reedbeds

Minsmere - Osprey west over the visitor centre mid-morning + Pied Fly in the sluice bushes and north bushes

Thorpeness - Possible Icterine Warbler seen briefly at the Old Caravan Park 0945hrs, also 2 Common Redstart (1 male) and 5 Little Gull on the sea.

Alde Estuary - 7 Curlew Sand (all juveniles), Wood Sand & Spoonbill on Town Marshes.

Shingle Street - 5 Whinchat in baled field.

Deben Estuary - Osprey seen from Kyson Point at 1245hrs.

Trimley Marshes - Temminck's Stint again on the reservoir at the SWT reserve.

Lakenheath - Juvenile PURPLE HERON west of Lakenheath Fen along Little Ouse River between Botany Bay & Redmere this evening

Friday 2nd

Waveney Area - Common Redstart at the net posts + 2 Whinchat, near-by, Common Redstart at Ness Point.

Benacre - A Wryneck was discovered along the track south of Beach Farm just beyond the pillbox though generally elusive throughout + Common Redstart.

Southwold - Long-tailed Skua south at 0700hrs

Dunwich - Pied Fly seen on the heath along Docwra's Dyke approx. 100yards SW of Heath Barn at 1155hes

Minsmere - A HONEY BUZZARD was seen over the levels and Kenton Hill at 1057hrs then lost to view as it drifted south.

Sizewell - Long-tailed Skua south at 0740 + 4 Arctic Skua south & 6 Little Gull feeding off the outfalls.

Leiston - Pied Fly in brambles along road north of Hill Farm.

Alde Estuary - No sign of the Red-necked Phalarope but 2 Curlew Sands still present on Town Marshes. Osprey again seen from Hazelwood Marshes + 9 Spoonbill.

Bawdsey - Little Stint at East Lane.

Felixstowe - A RED-FOOTED FALCON was seen to fly south over the point at LBO at 1215hrs.

Trimley (Stratton Hall Farm) - A pale phase HONEY BUZZARD was sat in harvested potato field just beyond the level crossing then flew towards Morston Hall with 2 Common Buzzards.

Thursday 1st

Waveney Area - Long-tailed Skua S off Ness Point at 1840 + 2 Arctic Skua.

Covehithe - Long-tailed Skua S + Sooty Shearwater N (both prior to 0915)

Southwold - Long-tailed Skua S prior to 0700 + 3 Sooty Shearwater N. Long-tailed Skua S at 1900 + 2 Arctic Skua. 7 Whinchat + Common Redstart around the sheep paddocks at Easton Bavents

Sizewell - Long-tailed Skua seen S at 0615, 0710 & 1758 + Sooty Shearwater N at 0735. 10 Little Gull (6 ad, 1 x 1st sum & 3 juveniles) off the outfalls

Alde Estuary - The RED-NECKED PHALAROPE continued to show well on the flash on Town Marshes, also 3 Curlew Sand present & 5 Whinchat. Osprey seen from Hazelwood Marshes.

Shingle Street - 2 Whinchat south of Battery Cottage

Bawdsey (East Lane) - Long-tailed Skuas were noted S at 0745 & 2 S 1030 + Manx Shearwater S at 0652.
